Home Free was on the “Sing Off “, an a cappella competition. They won it in the season that was in 2013(I think that’s correct). As far as I’m aware they were never on AGT. There is a newer video (Feb 2022 tour) that shows how he keeps improving. Now he has a looper. HF calls him the heartbeat of the band…truth.

Love Adam Rupp & his insane talent. He is the best out there in my opinion. He simulates the sounds of a drum perfectly. Many drummers have commented on how good he is. He sounds so realistic. His breath control must be crazy. I heard he makes the sounds both while inhaling & exhaling. This was a few years ago & hard to believe but he is even better now. Adam is the glue that holds Home Free together. He is their secret weapon which other a cappella groups can't match.

unbelievable talent....Home Free *DID* win the NBC tv show called *THE SING-OFF* a show about acapella groups, Home Free won it in Dec 2013...they won $100,000 + a recording contract with Sony records (worth suppsedly not sure on this) $500,000. All of their performances on the show are available on KZbin

He's been world champion at least once, possibly more. He is trained as a drummer, and also plays (I believe) the trumpet. His understanding of traditional music composition is why is vocal percussion is so realistic sounding. Drummers have reacted to him and commented on how he's not doing things that a real drummer couldn't reproduce. And that is timing is impeccable. He is the foundation of the entire group. On top of all of that, he is an incredible tenor that is slowly getting more comfortable singing. The few songs that he sings in, are some of their best. 4 part harmonies are super cool and all, but 5 part harmonies are even better.

Adam and his brother Chris Rupp came up with the idea of making Home Free and he is so versatile with extraordinary talents in music and arrangments. This guy's brother was the force behind the group and got Adam into doing this in middle school. The brother (Chris) left the group in 2016 after they had made it. Adam has been world champ three times if I'm not mistaken. On top of this, his singing voice is wonderful.

Another incredible beatboxer is Kevin Olusola of Pentatonix (another a cappella rabbit hole for you do go down - more pop, techno, rap). They won The Sing-Off the year before Home Free (both groups are friends). Check out some of their older ones first and you'll appreciate how much they've matured over the years. DaftPunk Medley is a good place to start.

Home Free was on The Sing Off, not America's Got Talent. I'm sure Adam would've impressed even Simon Cowell tho *lol*! He won back to back world beat boxing championships and just keeps improving his craft. He's the most realistic sounding drums, harmonica and other instruments and sounds out there. He's damn near a one man symphony lol. One reactor said there's no way he's making the harmonica music because he himself (the reactor) was a four time beat box champion and he couldn't do it. I was nice and didn't point it's a good thing he was competing against Adam

This drum solo alone shows his huge vocal range. When he sings with the group, it's usually tenor, but you can hear how low his voice can get with some of these instrument sounds.

Thank you for this reaction to Adam's drum solo. However this is very old, about 8 years old. Adam is so much more evolved as a percussionist now, Give a listen to one of the fan videos posted from their current tour or even their early 2020 tour, pre-pandemic.

If you think this is good..look up his most recent solos!! He is definitely a Master of his craft and has been doing it since he was like 12. He is a 2X World Champion Beatboxer. There would be no Home Free without Mr. Rupp. He and his brother Chris Rupp (Seen in Pre-2016 videos) are the founding members. Probably the only Beatboxer on the entire planet that could make me wish I could hear 90 minutes of just him. I was late to the party on Home Free. They certainly bring it in every show. There's some really cool live stuff out there of them..the whole group and individually. Each one of them is massively talented and could do a solo thing but together ...They are Home Free and I am so glad they are. 🏠🍟♾ They just get better it seems like. There is a a "History of Home Free" series out now that Chris Rupp is making. It's interesting to hear how it all began and from the first members where it all came from.

It's my understanding that Home Free auditioned for the Sing Off the first three seasons, but were not accepted. Keep in mind that Tim Foust and Austin Brown were not yet with Home Free. When the fourth season rolled around, Tim and Austin were now members of the group and they did in fact win that season. In the same season Home Free competed against Voice Play and a collegiate group that included Peter Hollens (Home Free has several music videos with Peter Hollens). Tim and Peter have a few videos with just the two of them, including Misty Mountain. Trust me when I say "you haven't even scratched the surface when it come to Home Free." As for me, Home Free is untouchable. Enjoy the journey!

Part of the reason why they were chosen for the fourth season was because of the country sound Tim and Austin brought with them, and the production team liked it, thought it was unique and suggested they'd genre themselves country. The audience used to always love when they did country so they jumped on it and the rest is history. Personally I also think it was partly due to the star quality Austin naturally has in combination with all the talents they possess together and their country sound.

Doing some checking, I found an Audition tape that they turned in to AGT and it was a song by Train not a country song. They did win the Sing Off in 2013.

You should watch their Home Free History videos. Adam and his brother, Chris, signed up for a talent show and decided to do an a capella number. They both tried to learn beat boxing, but Adam was better and has been doing it with the group since they formed in 2000.

Adam is a Freak of Nature. That’s what Home Free calls him. I like the solo from 2015. It’s a longer drum solo and the sound is better than this one. He uses a looper in their shows now and I know it saves his voice but I don’t like it as much but that’s me. Home Free was not on AGT but on the NBC show the Sing Off which was short lived for about 4 or 5 years. They won the show in 2013. It was a show for “a cappella” singers. It was a fun show. You don’t need instruments when you have Adam, that’s for sure. Try the Butts Medley for fun. It’s crazy fun. Good reaction.
