I love Victoria and her training methods so much! She's taught me so much about dog training & behaviour, as well as positive reinforcement! Thanks to her I managed to train my first dog with no major issues and maintain a happy relationship between us. I'm so glad to see that Victoria is so willing to help other dog owners across the world with their dogs and educate them on their bond!

My 2 doggies and I are walking 1-2 hours everyday in nature. I’ve been doing that for 6 years. They are such good doggies!!! One was rescued and the other rehomed. I see some owners that almost never take their dogs for walks. Yayks 😪

I am planning to get a dog within the next year.... and I am so happy that Mrs Stilwell proves the dog Trainers wrong that use pain as a method. Consistency is key, I believe it's no different to little kids... if you do not set rules you will suffer the consequences. And I believe there should be a class for people who want to get dogs. Imho the owner/ human is 99% of the time the problem... I mean why is there nothing like a dog licence? (Well a licence for Kids should also be recommemded in my opinion 😂)

What about when other people arent consistent with the training despite you telling them?
@liamparkin3697
@liamparkin3697 Жыл бұрын
There needs to be a primary trainer. For others a) Pick the most important training element you need consistent and ask them to do that, b) give the dog a nickname (puppa, short version etc) that everyone uses but have its real name for you only so they don't wear it out, c) Explain why consistency is important to you and the dog and if a,b,c dont work, go to relationship therapy.

*Sigh* Seriously? Who is this person? 1. You can't build a bond/relationship with a dog without training. Training is an important part of interacting with a dog, teaching it discipline, teaching it to respect and listen to you and seeing you as a leader. You can't build a bond by "doing less". Do more and engage with your dog. Most dogs like similar things - chasing ball, playing tag, learning new commands. 2. Positive training is only appropriate to teach a dog commands. Correction is necessary to get rid of unwanted behavior. 3. A dog won't trust you not because you "suppressed" its behavior but because you did something to hurt it. Unwanted behavior needs to be "suppressed", like leash pulling, jumping, biting. Correcting a dog won't make it less trustful. A simple "no" constitutes as a correction. And it's likely that a dog that is not naturally confident, and, a dog that is genetically nervous won't be fully confident.

You have clearly not watched any of Victoria's videos, because you'd know that Victoria supports CORRECTING bad behaviour, but that is not done with harmful methods! Not to mention all of your points just prove furthermore that you haven't got a clue what you're talking about.
@Yusheesan
@Yusheesan Жыл бұрын
@@f1lthyfangs I've seen many of Victoria's videos. Correction by definition involves punishment. She uses positive reinforcement that has no real consequences. Reinventing words does not introduce anything new or revolutionary. Victoria's definition of "harmful methods" involves the use of prongs and ecollars that are not harmful if used correctly. And this video regurgitates common sense which is neither revolutionary or helpful. She said that bonding with a dog does not involve training. Sounds like it's her and her fan club who are missing all of the clues.

@@Yusheesan There isn't a "right" way to use an electric collar, prong collar, choke collar, or any aversive training method. Dogs are not just pets. You shouldn't put a shock collar or anything for that matter on your dog if you wouldn't do it yourself, experience your dogs' pain and suffering. A prong collar is only acceptable for dogs running at cars or risking it's life, not because you want "better walking". To build a bond, you need love, training, faith, and anything positive. Most dog owners (obviously inexperienced) who use prong collars have them too loose around the trachea and it just causes pain and shows no real correction. Punishment for dogs has been proven ineffective in many trials and "surpressing" is just holding it until they're alone.... Not fixing it. To correct a dog, you simply remove rewards. It's a win/win.
@Yusheesan
@Yusheesan Жыл бұрын
@@Randomratz240 I did use a prong collar and an ecollar on myself. A low setting on an ecollar is barely felt and it feels more like a tick than a shock. There are also different types of ecollars with different types of shocks. A prong collar does not hurt either. Dogs have an extra layer on top of their skin called fur which functions as a buffer. "Punishment has been proven ineffective" that's a lie. Proper use of an ecollar and a prong has been proven very effective. I've been using a prong and ecollar correctly for 3 years (I barely use an ecollar now) and my dog has protection sports titles, has no reactive and nervous behavior and he is a well behaved and balanced dog. And this is the first dog I ever owned in my life. I also know a number of people who titled their dogs in protection sports and who use all of these tools and their dogs are fine. These tools are also used in police k9 training. The fact that inexperienced dog owners use these tools incorrectly is a really weak argument. They absolutely work when used properly, so we should be educating on the correct use because of the benefits to dogs and owners. So, the fact that you don't know anything about aversive tools aside from the old and tired propaganda, what else don't you know? Removing rewards is the dumbest thing you can do in dog training to stop unwanted behavior.

@teagoldleaf4137
@teagoldleaf4137 Жыл бұрын
She uses treats, she doesn't withhold food, but the treats will be based on foods your particular dog loves most. For some it's dog treats, for others it's chicken breast. If you've watched any of her episodes you'd understand what she means. She Never withholds food. But she does put dogs on a regimented eating schedule.

@@uncle_creepy2743 but that’s how they learn. You give them a treat/positive reinforcement when they did the good thing! When they don’t do it they don’t get any. Its latterly how positive reinforcement works, you make learning tricks and basic manners fun. They know you have treats so they will be motivated to work for it. You can’t just give your dog treat 24/7 cuz it needs to be something special that they get for good behavior. I don’t know how it could be negative. Their brain makes dopamine when they get the treat if they do something good so it’s fun, good, positive. And your the source of the fun, you have the treats, you give the pets and cuddles, you give love.

@@imme3958 fine and dandy but you proved my point.. you cant have positive reinforcement without the negative....otherwise it's all positive and the dog doesnt learn anything... the Semantics involved in the positive dog training world are misleading at best and in my opinion purposely so. Lots of weak minded people need to think everything is positive or they are somehow evil... very misleading
