45:37 First, this movie was a remake of a 1974 movie with the same title. In that movie the lead role (Paul Crewe) was played by Burt Reynolds. Same guy who came back to play the coach in this movie. This movie was also still really early in Terry Crews's and Tracy Morgan's film careers. They were just starting to get into movies. This is also one of only a very few movies that Nelly was ever in. And they ended up with four different wrestlers in this movie (Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Great Khali, Goldberg, and Kevin Nash), mainly because they were looking for big guys and for most of them it was either one of their first movies, or at least one of the first ones they did outside of WWE Films. I'm sure they were looking for the opportunity to do something different. They also had help from veteran actors like William Fichtner (head of the guards), James Cromwell (warden), and Cloris Leachman (warden's secretary). It was also a different kind of movie for Sandler. He was funny, but not in the ridiculous and over-the-top way he is in his other movies. Seems like it all came together to make a better movie than they likely expected at the time. Still holds up.

You can never go wrong with The Longest Yard. And yes, they have EVERYBODY in this movie. The older actor, the “coach” was Burt Reynolds. If you love Stone Cold keep loving him. I hate when people get hate just for roles they portray in movies when in reality they should be receiving praise for roles like these because they are very hard to play and they do help bring light to these situations. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I just think that it's important to show that these things happen and the movie clearly shows you they're wrong for using slurs and hate speech. Also that play where they move the offensive line is legal, you can find teams doing it on youtube. I'd say more often in college than the NFL
@TheMikeMase2 жыл бұрын
similarly to this, topher grace talked about how hard it was for him to play David Duke head of the KKK in blackkklansman. Apparently after it premiered at cannes film festival the movie got a 10 minte standing ovation and the screen was panning to all the actors and showing them on the screen in the theatre. they panned to topher and he said you could feel the crowd pull back a bit on the applause - he was so despicable in the film that the audience had a hard time differentiating his role in the movie with him. which is both an incredible compliment to his acting but also must have been surreal and hard to swallow in the moment.

Just so you know, the guy who played Adam Sandler 1on1, is Michael Irvin. Hof receiver and super bowl champion with the Dallas Cowboys. Edit: commenting as I watch, yes, that line flip is legal. You only need to have 7 men on the line of scrimmage, and it doesn’t matter where they line up. It’s rather common for teams (in my experience at least in high school and JC) to quite literally run that exact play for two point conversions, or other small yardage plays. My Varsity team almost went a full season running these style of plays after touchdowns bc of an injured kicker.

The playing on the drenched field scene is something all America needs to see. We can all be on the same team and have a good time.

This movie was great, a big lesson to teach about having honor and humility and having your friends backs.

I miss Burt Reynolds... Unfortunately he passed in 2018. I remeber when a was a child on the 80's and he gave me a lot of laughs on his "Bandit" movies. ... Hugs from Brazil!

ISTG, Tracy Morgan is the best part of every movie he’s in. I CAN NOT take my eyes off him. 🤣🤣🤣 Also, not Randy Moss but MICHAEL IRVIN. A 🐐!

This movie is fun. You need to see the original, though. Also: “Smokey and the Bandit” (Burt Reynolds) “Major League” (baseball) “The Replacements” (Keanu Reeves in another football movie. It’s actually one of my favorite movies ever.)

12:28 That actor is Burt Reynolds. Probably most famous for Smokey And The Bandit but he also starred in the original version of The Longest Yard back in 1974.
