Brian Bosworth that hit him was honored to hit him. He said “Who else can say they were ran over by Burt Reynolds”. Reynolds didn’t get hurt on the play but had to be helped off. They weren’t acting when they were carrying him to the sideline. He really needed the help.

To this day, I’m still impressed by Adam Sandler’s commitment to this role. At the beginning of the movie, he’s his usual pot-bellied, out-of-shape, self.
