You don't have to understand, it's subjetive and not a hive mind. People are so weird. I like this movie a lot but let's not pretend that people can't have their own experience. Although I do believe that when this came out people started judging movies based on the actors in it. Meaning that their initial opinion mixed with their stubbornes and inability to change makes the movie drift away as a whole. A lot of people seem to dislike Adam Sandler because of the newer movies he has made at the time. Which is hilarious becaue he has NEVER changed his movie style. He has NOT become less funny. It's just he caters to a younger demographic. Whenever people tell me he is a sellout or lost his touch I always just say that he didn't change, we just grew up. Went with my nephew to one of his recent comedies and they were dying laughing. Just like I was when I watched waterboy. It's hard to see when one self grows and changes, easier to blame the world and it's elements that it stayed the same.

This film struck a chord with me when I first watched it back in 2010. I grew up surrounded by family and let's just say that "We were always outside" line is very true. From the grandpas to the uncles, even my father said that they were always outside playing as kids. I love this film's celebration of family, friendship, fatherhood, and even childhood. Plus, to have these comedians (and Rob Schnieder) in a single movie is something that should be cherished. This may not be Adam Sandler's best film, but it's one that probably has the most heart and nostalgia to it.
