I would like to point out to you something that just became very clear to me period in the opening of this video the first part of the talk it was said that we need to start making things that last and not just things for now that are throwaway things period and then and when the Alistair started to discuss the microscopic image of the polyester he pointed out that you could see the indestructible plastic fibers period well those indestructible plastic fibers are things that last a long time period I don't know if that matters but it just seems contradictory period maybe there's something there

I get the confusion but the first part about making durable things is in reference to putting an end to ‘planned obsolescence’ (a.k.a. when products are designed to only last a short while so the consumer has to purchase again, which produces excessive waste), and designing not based on fads/trends, so that consumers keep products instead of disposing. The issue of micro-plastics never breaking down is a separate issue altogether. Although, it can be connected since much of the micro-plastics from clothing is due to companies producing cheap polyester garments to keep up with the changing trends, which in the end leads to a lot more clothing than anyone needs. Hope that clears up any confusion ✌🏼
