"People said "where will you be in 10 years" and I never thought I'd say painting a frog's bottom" - not only that, but you have people excited to watch it too! I really love your little crocodile!! The little mushies really added a lot to the base! Also, that "flumph in a minute" is going to be stuck in my head forever now

This kind of thing works great for batch painting, for example I did 33 skeletons in 2 hours, including basing, which comes out to about 4 minutes per mini.... Admittedly skeletons are on the simpler side but batch painting has the added advantage of less pot changing, and time for each coat to dry!

Not going to lie when Dave said man sized frog and man sized fish instead of envisioning a large fish and a large frog, I envisioned a frog man and a fish man...like humanoid versions of fish and frogs standing on two legs

As a man sized frog I would say I would be quite startled to see a man sized fish, but at the same time I would feel hungry.

Beelzebufo is the largest known frog, an extinct 10 lbs, 41cm creature that ate baby dinosaurs! There are several large bony fish the Arapaima from the Amazon comes to mind; which can get as big as 3m and 200kg (440 lbs).

Contrast paints are kinda amazing for speed painting. The results are incredible ^^ You can of course do a lot better with real paints, but as someone that just spent 12h over 3 days on the Gotrek mini, the idea of a totally serviceable mini done in 10 min is quite appealing ^^

Oh, the hot glue gun for individual base resin pours is a great idea. I have some plans for some minis that will feature a lot of water on the bases as was pondering how i'd do that.
@narratordave78313 жыл бұрын
If you're not doing a speedpaint, I recommend using hot glue to affix a nice straight but flexible material to act as your dam/gate - Something like a strip of plastic or plasticard. Use the glue to affix it to the rim of the base and you will have cleaner edge when you remove it - I've also seen people use tape. The hot glue just provides strength then and fills any minor gaps
@GlodansYT3 жыл бұрын
@@narratordave7831 Yeah. I was considering a little strip of plastic or something, but had so far only gotten as far, in theory, of holding it in place with some tape. Hot glue will be much better, especially for the one model I have that's got a foot forward in motion coming off the front of the base where i plan to do a free-form splash of kicked up water.

Have Dave, this is why I use dropper bottles and a wet palette... 1) You don't have to worry about if the lid of a GW pot is closed or not because it's in a dropper bottle! 2) You don't have to worry nearly as much about your paint drying out while painting because it's on a wet palette! 3) If you have an airbrush why would you keep any of your paints in pots anymore?
@narratordave78313 жыл бұрын
Ah! I Also use a wet palette (although not for a contrast paint speedpaint) Honestly, for me I completely get it! I'd prefer my paints in dropper bottles, but the time and effort of transferring citadel paint to dropper bottles is not worth the momentary annoyance and spillages for me personally. I do enjoy those sweet Vallejo droppers though ;p

I struggled with Humbrol Enamel paints when I painted warhammer and figures over 20 years ago. With todays paints and techniques it looks like cheating. So easy with the washes and smooth paints with fast drying times. I had to wait for like 2 days before I could paint the next layer without dissolving the previous one so building up thin layers for a smooth finish was not really an option. Still have my warhammers and would like to get some of these paints and try it again.

I mean, if you'd paint 6 models in an hour, I think you'd probably batch paint them together to cut on the drying time and paint switching. I think that would be more "realistic" when you acutally are in a rush.

@matthewrayner5713 жыл бұрын
Go for it! When they first came out, the initial reaction was very negative - so you won't find too many YT videos singing their praises. While they are ridiculously expensive, they do have a place in the painting process. I just think you shouldn't paint a whole model with them, as the end result is questionable, and it doesn't improve your painting skills in placing light or colour theory.

Why not get a bunch of frogs, do all the green one by one, and when you finish the last one, go back to the first with the next color?
Are those all D&D minis? What are the frog people?

The frog people are called Bullywugs and are indeed D&D models. Specifically a common encounter for low level players in swampy areas. They're basically angry vindictive toads.
