Ok, where to begin? Percy is not an asshole in the books. At the museum he is listening to Chiron as he speaks and even scolds two other kids for talking over him. Chiron does not scare the fury off he throws Percy the sword and he kills it himself. Percy is sent on the quest with Annabeth and Grover because he wants to help the campers and prevent a civil war between the gods. That's who Percy is, he's selfless, he's brave, willing to risk his life for his friends. Grover in the books is shy, reserved, insecure and humble. His goal is not to get horns seeing as satyrs are born with horns but to earn his searchers license to go looking for the god Pan (it's a whole thing no time to go into it now). He is most certainly not a sex pest. And Annabeth, ohhoho wise girl what did they do to you. Annabeth is not a conceited bitch in the books, a bit full of herself but not that much. The first time we see her in the books she is caring for Percy after his scuffle with the minotaur, she is kind, she's the smartest person at camp, daughter of the goddess of wisdom. Luke is supposed to be a cool older guy who Percy sees as a romantic rival for Annabeth even though he isn't interested. Also side note if Luke had that many gadgets he'd be dead by now, broadcasting your voice on a phone or other such device is like sending up a flare to all monsters in the surrounding area. He has a scar in the books from a quest his father once sent him on (again, whole thing, read the book) that's Luke's character, he HATES his father, he hates the gods. Many demigods hate the gods, why, because they don't talk to them. Why is that, we don't know. Maybe they're too busy, maybe they have other agendas, or maybe they just don't care. We don't know, every conflict, every battle and war in the original series occurs because the gods refuse to acknowledge their children and we don't know why. That Zeus forbidding them thing is made up because this movie doesn't want to tackle anything complicated. On top of that Hades is not the villain in the book, we start out thinking he is because he sends monsters after the trio but we later find out that he's doing that because whoever stole the master bolt also stole his helmet of invisibility. The actual villain is later revealed to be Ares, the god of war. He's working with Luke because he wants there to be a civil war among the gods, you know, god of war. The end fight is between Percy and Ares and it's fricken EPIC. Percy and Luke do not fight in the book, Luke is smart, he can't be baited like that. He instead tries to assassinate Percy with a pit scorpion, he's conniving and he's dangerous. The pearls are given to Percy in a single scene in the book, they did not drive the plot. All those monsters just sprung up as they traveled to San Francisco which is how it worked in Greek mythology and it's how it works here. Percy's mum stays behind in the underworld in the books and is later released by Hades. And there was not that much foul language and sexual content in the book, as a matter of fact the author, Rick Riordan read it to his class of 5th graders. There's much more than that but for a full breakdown I recommend movieflames video review of the movie because I've been typing for 30 minutes and I'm low on battery

Rick Riordan, the author of the series, has been on record since the movie came out that it's horrible as an adaptation. There are parts in the second one where they incorporated some details from the book like the oracle, explanation of the mist(bit bland actually), and also Dionysus and of course Clarisse, but still, it was super messy where even Kronos got somewhat resurrected which he was not in book 2. A satyre and a faun are the same créature, but the faun is its name in the Roman mythology. One of my friends invited me at her home for conforting me and we watched it (and three years later, this girl betrayed me) I was happy to see the références of Greek mythology because it was one of my specific interests when I was younger (I'm a girl with ASD). If you didn't get it, the lotus flower is a part of " The Odyssey " where Ulysse stepped on an island but some of his men ate a lotus flower gave by the population and they didn't want to leave the island after that. I was a little upset they made of Annabeth, the daughter of Athena, because according to the mythology, Athena is one of the three virgin goddess (the two others are Artemis and Hestia) so it's impossible she had a daughter.

Here are some examples: Edward Teach (Blackbeard), son of Ares Harriet Tubman, daughter of Hermes Frederic Bartholdi, son of Athena George Washington, son of Athena Harry Houdini (god parent unknown) William Shakespeare, son of Apollo Amelia Earhart, daughter of Zeus Thomas Faynor, son of Hephaestus William H. Seward, son of Hebe William Sherman, son of Ares Wilt Chamberlain, son of Hermes Archimedes, son of Hephaestus Fun fact about Frederic Bartholdi, he was the creator of the Statue of Liberty and he based the statue's appearance off his mother. So basically, in the world of Percy Jackson, the statue looks like Athena.

Preposterous! Even if it were true, beauty cannot help the sick" so she turned her into a gorgon as punishment 2: she was a mortal woman who was the most loyal priest of athena, 1 day, posidon wanted to claim athens as his own so to give Athena some pain, he chased down medusa into athena's temple & sedused her, because sex was illegal in Athena's temple, Athena turned medusa into a gorgon as punishment, medusa came to another Athena temple & remained loyal to her

About that whole thing with Athena and Medusa. In some versions of the myth, Medusa was a priestess of Athena and, as she said in the movies, was desired by many suitors but since she served Athena, Medusa took a vow to remain a virgin. But her beauty caught the attention of Poseidon and he raped her in one of Athena's temples to get pack at the goddess for the whole Athens thing. This act angered Athena so much and seeing Medusa as the cause of this, she turned her priestess into a Gorgon. Mythology fact: Medusa was the daughter of two sea deities and had two sisters, Stheno and Euryale, who were born as Gorgons and were the only ones who didn't have the power to turn people to stone while Medusa was born with a human form.

first of all the Gods do not have DNA and have a different view on family so although in our eyes hades is her uncle to them he isn't. secondly that is not how winter was born or how the four seasons started (that is misinformation). Demeter did not make it snow or anything like that, there already is a Goddess of snow (khione) all Demeter did was refuse to let plants and crops grow during winter (and that is why crops don't really survive in winter) they weren't concerned that the earth was cold they were concerned that no crops would grow and people are starving

Take it from someone who read the 5 books 10 times: Sea of Monsters is so different from the book that they cannot do a third movie without completely changing it, and I mean more than the second one. Important characters missing, important events missing, impossible twists, too much. "My life's work going through a meat grinder" Rick Riordan about Sea of Monsters I can't even imagine what the others ones would have looked like if they continued...

I watched this movie before I read the books and I liked it. Then I read the books and I immediately despised it. I do like the change of having the lotus eaters having the actual lotus flowers instead of a really cool credit cards. But in the books the characters are way more interesting and had a way better story. And the worst part is they cut Ares the god of war out of this movie.

I was really looking forward to seeing the Ares vs Percy battle and then it didn't Hakeem so I was very sad by that.
@ethansolorzano59892 жыл бұрын
not to mention you know Ares, was also the reason the gods were about to go to war, since he was the one who stole it and tried to pin the blame on percy and hades

I actually watched the movies before I read the books. I do agree that the books are a whole lot better and more detailed than these movies were. The movies they were more of a guilty pleasure so they’re OK when you’re not comparing them to the books. However the stage musical The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is on par with the books. I highly recommend you check it out there is a video of it on KZbin at the full production. And I cannot wait for the Disney+ series of this phenomenal story. 💙🔱🐚🌊

Oh gods, I had forgotten how bad this movie was. "Oh-yeah-mom-is-dead-i'm-a-demigod-oh-well-let's-play-capture-of-the-flag 🤦🏼♀️ I can swear the director and writers just read the back cover of the book and went "got it". It’s actually cringing just to think about it

I will give it that the books are much better I grew up reading them and they are what got me into Greek mythology and I personally don't understand all the hate on the movies I honestly enjoyed them but I really don't Hate to many movies I just enjoy any movie for what it is
@mahega1282 жыл бұрын
Well now you need to react to “Troy” (2004). It’s got Brad Pitt and focuses on the Fall of Troy from Greek mythology. It leans more towards the realistic all-out war aspect rather than the mystical nature of the mythology, and it’s not 100% accurate to the mythology but it’s a good retelling and an amazing war movie in itself. Just a suggestion :)

It's a good film by itsself but I wouldn't recommend watching it if you've read the books but still independently it's a good movie

@pyronuke47682 жыл бұрын
I think the biggest way this movie fails is due to its characters. Here they are rather reactive, compared to the very proactive versions in the book. You hear a lot of "you need to __" or "we gotta __", and rarely hear them say "I want __" or "I feel __", and when they do it's usually stock answers. Now It's not a sin to write reactive characters, but if you're going to make them the lead they need to have characterizations and nuances so when they react the way they do it makes sense to the audience. Otherwise they'll just come across as watered down objects that progress the plot.

Personally I like the movies. Books are better obviously. I think of the movies as a different timeline.
@devika25452 жыл бұрын
Yeah the first one was decent. It would have been better if it didn't follow the trope of making hades evil. The second movie however is absolute garbage. It is filled with contradictions and does not make sense on many points. Like seriously. Since when was Luke able to control water?
@ben07892 жыл бұрын
@@devika2545 yea the second movie was worse. Luke water bending didn't make any sense.

I had already read the book LONG before the movie. When I watched it, it was a disappointment compared to the book. Book was a 5 stars while the movie was a 2. Supposedly, they are working on a series. If and/or when it comes out, I hope they do better with it then this disaster.

In GREEK mythology she was BORN a gorgon she was never human or anything like that and Athena had NOTHING to do with her. the version you are talking bout is from roman mythology.

I have some questions about your deleted toy story 4 video-why do you hate toy story 4? What exactly did you say in the video right before, and right after watching it? What exactly did your facial expression look like in the thumbnail, and can you undelete the video, so that I can watch it? I really want to watch that video, because, I never saw it.

I saw this in the theater and thought it was a fun kids movie but nothing memorable. Hadn't read the books and didn't know how much had been changed until some years later. Then a few years ago, I finally read the books and really enjoyed them. I'm not a diehard fan of the books, and I DNF another series I tried to read by the author, but the treatment this series got by the movie studio is atrocious. Imagine if the first HP movie didn't even mention Voldemort. Or if the first LOTR movie didn't mention Sauron. That's essentially what they did here by leaving out the main series villain. It's a terrible way to establish faith with the book fans and destined the movie franchise to fail. Glad to hear Disney+ is doing a new adaptation.

I read the PJ-series and absolutely love them and admittedly kind of like the first film , but there are huge gaps between the books and the films to make me cringe a bit. Even without having read the first one the film leaves plenty of open-ended questions and confusion. Don’t even bother with the second film. Completely strayed away from the source material.

Please read the books- they are SO much better than the movies. Rick Riordan- the author of the series- actually hates to movies too, saying he wouldn't have given the rights to make em if he knew what they were gonna do at least he gets to try again with the tv show they're filming right now-
