The end of Love In Paradise always makes me so sad. Being held hostage by a crazy lady that swears they're in love with you when you sacrificed everything including friends to go back home. Then we get a glimpse of his state of mind of how everything is haunting him, so he calls on the friend he hopes still cares to save him. BRINGS ME TO TEARS!!!!

To be honest, this saga has a lot of things going on so It's a little confusing if you don't watch the animatics that J had made. You can watch those on his channel in the "live" section. But for now, I can explain what happens in each song. Song 26: "Legendary": - There is a 7-year time skip from the last we saw our cast in the "Thunder Saga". The "Wisdom Saga" starts with the perspective of Telemachus, the son of Odysseus. Currently in his early 20's he is longing to meet his father who he hasn't seen in 20 years. During this time 108 suitors have invaded Odysseus' palace and are trying to force Penelope to marry them. Telemachus would do anything to find his dad (He sings he'd fight mythical monsters), and he wishes he'd be even half as strong as Odysseus so that he could protect his mom from these men. At the end of the song, Antinous cuts in and edges Telemachus into a fight. Song 27: "Little wolf" - Telemachus gets into a physical fight with Antinous. Due to his lack of experience, he's completely losing to Antinous, who surpasses him in age, strength, and power. The whole time Antinous and the suitors taunt and bully him which leads to Athena's intervention. In the middle of the fight, Athena makes Telemachus' thoughts quicker and teaches him how to fight back. Even with her help Telemachus still loses but for the first time, he was able to fight and more importantly it shows the suitors that Telemachus isn't a complete pushover so they leave him for now. Song 28 - "We'll be fine" - Athena talks about the guilt she feels for abandoning Odysseus 10 years ago. Telemachus doesn't know who she is talking about(she never tells him the "friend's" name) but he comforts her and tells her how grateful he is for her help today. So in this song, Athena becomes friends with Telemachus. Song 29 - "Love in Paradise" - After her conversation with Telemachus, Athena decides to look for Odysseus as no one knows where he is. She does this thing called "time dive" meaning that she goes through the memories of Odyssues to locate where he is. That is why in this song we get flashbacks of the previous sagas. Eventaully we transition to the memory where he had washed up on the island of Calypso (this is presumably after the encounter with Zues in Thunder Bringer). Calypso instantly fell in love with Odyssues and because of that she has been holding him captive on her Island for 7 years. So the last part of the song is a more recent memory. It's not stated, but it is implied that for 7 years Ody has been SA'd by Calypso and on top of that he is filled with the guilt and trauma of his past. So Calypso is trying to stop him from jumping. And as he is whaling he makes a final and desperate call to Athena. Athena decides she needs to save him. Song 30 - "God Games" - Athena pleads to her father Zues. She wants to directly intervene into Odyssues situation but she needs Zues' permission. Zues says he'll let her if she is able to convince the 5 olypians he chooses. So he calls upon Apollo, Hephestus, Aphrodite, Ares, and Hera. Athena is able to convince each of them and Zues was indignated by this so he attacks Athena. Athena nearly dies from his but she has a flashback to 20 years ago when Odysseus brought the newly born Telemachus. Remebering that she has more motivation to fight against her father's wrath. But in the end Zues overpowers her so in her dying breath she begs him to release and save odyssues (In this moment the gods that she convinced are all watching and they are all in shock realizing Zues killed Athena)

Athena is immortal. She can’t die even from Zeus’ attacks, but she can feel pain (I think, the gods are immortal and can’t but I don’t think their immune to pain). She was just knocked out from the pain and her injuries.

It’s like she remembered “I owe this family. I’ll fight for them until the end.” (Also, know where Athena said “Let’s see where you’ve been.” and those different songs played? Those are all times a piano has played- her instrument. She can see everything that happened, not just those events in the song).

So, Calypso. She was banished to an island all alone. Girl’s a bit crazy. Odysseus is the first person she’s seen in forever. She clung to him like a kid with a new puppy. Girl doesn’t care that he’s married. With God Games, Athena played into everything each god loves. Apollo is the god of music, so he was upset about the sirens. She argued that they could learn from Odysseus’ attack and be more cautious. Hephaestus is the god of building, so she worded her argument about him rebuilding relationships. Aphrodite is the goddess of love. She was upset about Odysseus being the reason his mom died. Athena argued that a broken heart can mend. Obviously, with Ares, she says that he’ll cause even more death and war for getting back home, which we know he will. Now, Hera, the goddess of family, ironically. She is Zeus’ wife. A man who’s literally known for sleeping around. That’s one of the reasons she brought up how he’s been faithful to Penelope. People who know Greek mythology, like myself, were probably dying laughing. I know I was. Also, Hephaestus is voiced by Jorge’s dad, which is fun because he helped him _build_ the vocal booth they use. Hope that helped 🩵

Funny u mentioned Athena being a lawyer, there was a whole myth dedicated to Athena forming the law system of Ancient Greece. Also fun fact, God Games is based on the Elite Four from Pokemon (Jorge's own words). So Athena, the player, has to fight through the Elite Four, namely Apollo, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Ares, surprise challenger (which sometimes happens in Pokemon) Hera, and finally the champion Zeus. Another fun fact, in the Illiad, aka the story before the Odyssey, Zeus, Apollo, Ares, and Aphrodite are on the Trojans side opposite Odysseus in the Trojan War, while Athena and Hera are on Odysseus's side on the war. And finally the Gods are on top of the skies, looking over the world, so of course they know everything.

You know I still find it odd to realize the “reason odysseus started to hear the voices” was because Calypso had said and I quote “stay in my open arms” which were the last things politics had said in the underworld, but that was also what he was thinking when he died

Just so you know who everyone is the god of: Calypso- renowed beauty nymph Apollo- sun and music Hephaestus- of fire, volcanoes, forges, and blacksmithing (canonically has a leg injury which at the time was an allegory for 🍆 injury also married to Aphrodite) Aphrodite- sexual love and beauty Ares- war (banging Aphrodite despite her being married to Hephaestus) Athena- war battle tactics often gets into conflict with Ares (battle tactics vs thirst for murder bloodlust) Hera- Marriage, women, childbirth (thats why she is impressed by Ody not cheating also Zeus's wife) Zeus- sky (leader father of basically everyone here except calypso lots of thunder and lightning imagery)

Some extra information: Calypso is a goddess of beauty, but also of the sea, hence why she can keep Odysseus there. She was banished to her island because she originally sided with the titans in the battle between them and the Olympians. Apollo is a god of many things, including the sun and light, but I think it's important to differentiate him from Helios for Epic specifically, who IS the sun and the one that Eurylochus angered in Mutiny. Jorge is pushing Apollo's music domain more here, but he also reigns over poetry, healing, prophecy, the list truly goes on. Hephaestus absolutely knows about Ares and Aphrodite. He captured them under a net while they made love and called all the other Olympians in an attempt to shame them for their infidelity. Instead they just laughed at him. I'm glad they showed him having devoted fans in the animation, cause this dude seriously deserves a break. Hera tossed him off Olympus when she saw he was born lame. Poor dude. While it's obvious considering she says it herself, Athena is also the goddess of wisdom, not just strategic war. She's also Zeus' favorite child while Ares is probably the most hated of the Olympians. Makes it all the more shocking he acted so harshly against her in the end. And despite how much they butt heads, I think it says something that Ares is the one that asks "is she dead?" Hera's "Release him." Gets me to laugh every time, which is so needed before that finale 🥺

I’m really starting to think Jorge should have added in Telemachus’ name somewhere in the first or second song because quite a few people are getting confused between him and Odysseus. It makes sense, we’ve been following Odysseus for so long, why would he suddenly disappear? I just feel bad for all the people without prior knowledge on the musical who are hella confused. Maybe Jorge could’ve used the little motif that we’ve had going on throughout the rest of the musical, or have someone address him by name in one of the earlier conversations he has (either with Antinous or Athena). It could have helped clear some stuff up lol

Calypso isn’t really a goddess with an aspect. During the titan war, she sided with the titans. Her punishment wasn’t as severe as the titans, but she was still forced to live on an island called Ogygia alone. However, there are a couple of cases in which a hero washed up on Ogygia after an event that definitely should have killed them. Odysseus was one of them. Since Calypso lives in isolation, when Odysseus washed up on her island, she wanted him to stay for the rest of eternity, but Odysseus obviously wanted to get back to Penelope. I hope that gives you context for Love in Paradise. I’ve seen a lot of other comments talking about Telemachus, so I won’t pester you about that. Odysseus is only actually seen in Love in Paradise in this saga.

I'll give you some past on Calypso (i know thanks to pjo) She was daughter of a titan and when the gods were overthrowing the titans she supported the titans in the war so after Zeus and everyone overthrow the titans they punished Calypso to be trapped in an island I think it was ogyia or something and no one can leave or go she Also had been cursed that whoever comes on shore she falls in love with that person and then that person has to leave at some point :) also In little wolf the Guy who said "watcha gonna do about it champ" was Antinous one of Penelope's suitors also The guy he was bulling the one who wants to be legendary is "Telemachus"(Ody's son) and the friend Athena was talking about was Odysseus Also can i be on the board you can write missdoesalot!

I wasn't planning on commenting but I have to say this but some people here in the comments, are try to be informative but are honestly just being straight up rude, he made a mistake. 1) He thought that Telemachus was Odysseus when he was younger that's understandable without the visuals and their slightly similar voices, but that doesn't give any of you the right to complain and say such rude things. 2) Him reacting to the songs without the visual aid of the livestream because he didn't know it was still up. It's not right on the front page of the channel when you click into it so how would he know that 🤔, you literally have to go into the livestream section to find it. He made mistakes, that what makes us human and some of y'all need to learn so basic decency. Betrayed love. - Ares is the easiest: Ody's tactics are Athena's style (self protecting and wits, little losses) Ares loves a bloodbath and straight froward striding into a fight. - Hera is Zeus only official wife. And also the Goddess of marriage and vows...Zeus sleeps with anything and anyone if you didn’t know. A faithful husband doesn't exist in her books, so Ody it a total win. - Zeus. He is the king. His ego and pride are unimaginable. Winning his game when he bets against you is certain death or loooong torture.
