CUTE AGRESSION: It's not about cerebral location, but because we are overwhelmed with so much 'cuteness' but don't know how to express it! We are overcome with these incredibly strong feelings of love and have no physical way of showing them. It's not even so much about the cuteness itself, but rather that it is such a high-positive emotion and our body doesn't know how to handle it, so it creates a behaviour to balance it out. Also why we might sob profusely at something happy and wonderful!

There's a 6 year age gap between me and my sister and when I was little I thought that the sun shone out of her... Everything she did I did and everything she said I repeated (much to my mum's dismay). It's only now however, after all the years of fights and scraps have subsided and she's in her last year of Uni, that I now realise how much she trained me up and how similar we are. We know each other inside out and share a psychological link that no one other than a brother and sister can really have! It's nice that you and Tom are kind of similar and that other people are as well :)

I think part of what you said about being an adult is so true! but would like to add that it isn't the absence of knowing what's popular but rather not spending your time on things you aren't really interested in simply because the are popular that is really tue better marker of adulthood. Realising life is too short and your brain too full to store information for something that you aren't passionate about- that's the good thing about growing up and being an 'adult'. it's hugely freeing to fill your life with what you love and what interests you rather than trying to fit in with the young'uns. I hope you are having a wonderfully splendid day! x

I relate to this so much! I swear I have that cute aggression thing, everytime I cuddle my puppy I sometimes just wanna squish her face (I'm currently making that same noise and face you did when talking about the little kids in Les Mis at my computer screen). And I'm in the (kind of) same boat with the age thing- I should know about the music charts and cinema listings and all that jazz yet I don't (and fashion- just no, never gonna happen), and I'm trying to learn things I'll need in my adult life and I'm almost 21. Gah! Also, I KNEW it was The Great Gatsby! The Book Club Box email didn't mention the title but with the little hints I guessed it correctly! :D

i saw that thing about cuteness on tumblr and could not stop laughing. i think it was something along the lines of when you see something cute, your natural instinct is to squeeze it so hard that it dies, so that it stops being cute and you don't have to deal with the cuteness anymore. i found that slightly morbid and completely hilarious.
@madcherrywood19 жыл бұрын
I have the exacts same problems as the first two you mentioned going on right now.. About the cute-aggresion one: I heard it's because something or someone is quite literally too cute: your brain can't cope with it so it needs to compensate the cuteness by aggression. That explains why seeing a cute lil baby makes you want to take a bite out of their cute lil tummy, their cute lil fingers or their cute lil ears: they're literally TOO CUTE.

I also have the same with my boyfriend (been together for 6 years) we have jokes that no one understands/finds funny. Also I'm 22 and stuck in that middle stage of being a teenager and an adult. I had to sort out my tax rebate recently and had no idea what I was doing.

Random thought: I had a stuffed hare animal since birth named Sebastian and he was literally my "best friend" that id sleep with every night and take with me on EVERY trip no matter how near or far from home, and because he was a stuffed toy (dare I say it), the cute aggression thing wasn't an issue and I'd literally squeeze the thing like crazy. But then when I'd see real life cuteness it made it so much harder!
@ashleyblackburn96309 жыл бұрын
Cute-Aggression also derives from old literature. Terms like "Munch"kin and Sweetie"pie" turned up and that is usually how we describe someone that is cute and or appealing to us. Such an interesting topic.

@blackbird959139 жыл бұрын
omg carrie i looked it up a long while ago, but the "cute aggression" thing is actually scientifically proven that like your body has no idea how to handle something being so cute. like as humans we do not have a proper reaction setting inside of us for cute things. so they only response we have is to just hurt it / kill it so it will stop being so cute its quite graphic but also kinda interesting..?

Well, I suppose it's just normal that there is this "in between-age". I'm 22 as well and apart from the fact that I've never known what's currently in the Top Ten or the cinema or in fashion and I still don't, I know exactly what you mean. It's also what I feel - sometimes so very grown-up and independent, managing my own life pretty well and sometimes being a foolish, giggling teenager again, not caring about anything and life's so simple. It's really good to still have that, happens especially when I'm around my brothers who are all younger than me - but they're the perfect excuse for behaviour that's not very grown-up ;) But I quite like this, this "in between" thing - sometimes I think it's when you get the best of both worlds ;) Xx
