i never comment on youtube videos, but i just wanted to say this was the most lovely video. i grew up in canada but spent a lot of time in beijing as a kid, and my grandparents (who are all born and raised in beijing) have all passed away in the last few years. from bei hai, to the olympic oval, to beef noodle soup, and lamb skewers, this video had me bawling by the end because you helped unlock so many memories that i haven't experienced in a while. i can barely look through photo albums at this point because i miss my grandparents so much, but i knew they lived long, fulfilling lives. it looks like you are doing exactly what you should do, which is to cherish all your time with your grandparents and family. time flies and you're no longer the little girl playing with little critters in her grandma's house, but instead a wonderful, grown woman that lives in new york city. thank you so so much for this video, i've been a long time sub and i really, really loved this video. i'd love to go back to beijing in the next year or so. thank you for representing beijing in the most beautiful way

hi! this comment really resonated with me. i lived in china for 5 years before coming back to america and all of my grandparents live in china. because of the pandemic, i haven't been back to china in 5 years and i really miss them. i made so many happy memories in china. my favorite grandma passed away last year and this comment reflected what i was thinking the entire time

This is so true. China has beautiful places and cultures but that’s often undermined by the politics and brief interactions with the people.

The sad part is that China is the core of other east asian cultures. But keep in mind that the laws in China hardly allows to show it to the world.
I can’t wait to go back to Beijing, this was so heart warming to watch 😭🤍

It hits me so much. As a Chinese, i can really feel the special bound between family members especially with the older genetation like grandparents. When your grandma took out the doll you make for 25 year, this kind of treasure and attention equals to the love she gives you. Thanks for your sharing.

The moment you wrote that you were seeing your grandparents I knew I was going to get emotional. I have a soft spot for grandparents, they love us so much and they only want the best for us. I lost my grandpa last year, it's not easy, but I'm definitely blessed with the best grandma 💓 how lovely that you got to spend time with your loved ones and explore Beijing ✨️
@A88-p5e Жыл бұрын
you interacting with your grandparents had me with tears in my eyes. My nai nai passed away when I was 17 and my yeye only last year when I was 23. I felt like I never got to learn enough about their childhood and before I knew it, they were gone along with all their stories. I never got to visit where they were from and they were not from anywhere near Beijing, but somehow your vlog still feels nostalgic to me. For anyone reading this, please please treasure your time with family and do all you can to learn things from them. Life is too short to get caught up in the trivial things like school and work 🤍

This video gives me all the feels. My extended family is also in Beijing. I only get the chance to go back every few 6-7 years, but always love it when I do. The warmth of my family and of course, the amazing food are all memories that I cherish. Unfortunately, my last living grandparent passed away 4 years ago. Grandparents are the bond that holds the whole family together - without them, it’s just not the same anymore. I hope you get to keep creating memories with your loved ones ❤

i also went back to china this summer after 4 years, and it felt so surreal seeing everything and reuniting with family for the first time in such a long time. the whole trip was so bittersweet, i felt the immense changes that were happening in the world around me and the people around me and it really made me feel the passage of time. seeing this vlog really touched me to see someone who's had such a similar experience as me. i really wish i could have spent more time with them and enjoy our memories. this is such a touching vlog!!!

I have now lost all 4 of my grandparents and also my Dad and it is heavy on the heart, it goes so much faster than you think, it's so good that you appreciate these moments, just visit as often as you can and of course, it makes great content for us all to enjoy as well!

This video is so special. I lived in Beijing for ten years. Married a Chinese man. All four of my children were born in Beijing and they spent a lot of their childhood there. Nainai and yeye are still in Beijing. This is like a window into the future for my babies when they grow up and revisit Beijing and their family. Even for me, going to Beijing is like going home.

This was literally me a couple weeks ago! I finally had the chance to go visit my family in China after 4 years (2019 before college was my last trip before covid) and I nearly cried from how grateful I felt! Seeing my cousins and my grandma again for just a week, after all these years felt so surreal, especially with how hard it has been to travel to China the last few years. I'm also planning on posting a little China vlog. After watching yours, I wish I took some better footage because half the time I was too jetlagged to remember LOL! Anyways, writing this in hopes you know how meaningful vlogs like this are to me and a lot of other Chinese Americans out there! We should show off our culture and family more to a world I feel like has many prejudices :,)

Never thought about leaving a comment to a YT video. As I spend more time in US, I unconsciously hide the true me inside, not feeling comfortable of showing where I am from and who I really am. I so appreciate you sharing your life in China and the roots of yours. Made me proud of who I am again. There aren’t many ABC KZbinrs I follow are brave enough to show their roots and cultures. You are the only one. And your videos are so important to me as I see my people. I feel the belongings. ❤
