This has to be one of, if not the Greatest documentaries of all time. I mean the people who put this together just put together a masterpiece and it shows throughout the whole thing. It did both of them justice in every way.

This is a great sports documentary. I’ve watched it 3 times through now, still shed a manly sports tear each time. Facing Nolan is another great sports documentary Nolan Ryan’s career was insane just unreal. Sports are awesome

During those seasons of pain Larry was still 22pts, 9-10 rbds, 5-7 assists x 2 steals. He did a lot, not nothing.

"When you get paid to go to work, you go to work" those words could not be more true and unfortunately most players if not all players don't believe in that philosophy any more. The athletes in this era were true Warriors of their sport.

@@ItzJustJP they played each other 18 times in the regular season and 19 times in the playoffs over 3 nba finals. Thats 37 times they played each other over a decade. Not too many rivalries can boast that number over that many years while being competitive. During that same decade magic won 5 rings 3 mvps 3 finals mvps and was in 8 finals and bird won 3 rings 3 mvps 2 finals mvps and was in 5 finals now thats domination.

Well you know the saying hindsight is 2020, and history set the story straight. Larry Bird IS one of the GOATS of Major League basketball, and arguably the greatest all-around basketball player of all time!

You just don't see this kind of rivalry and "friends for life" bond today. The 80s and 90s were my favorite years watching the NBA, and Larry, Magic, and Michael were the reason for that. Seeing them all playing on the same team in 1992 (Dream Team), to bring home a Gold medal for the US, was iconic, and seeing Magic feed Larry the ball so he could knock down a three was the best! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.

I quit watching the NBA 95 for political reasons. Todays game would be destroyed by 70's and 80's and early 90's teams

I didn't realize it at the time, as a 15-year-old kid, but it wasn't just a joy to watch these two men play, but it was a privilege. I got to see watch the golden age of professional basketball; I got to see the stars of the 70s NBA give way to the greats of the 80s, and then watch the greats of the 90s blend into the game. It was--the best. And there was no game more highly anticipated than a Celtics-Lakers game. And when these two failed to meet in the finals, you were a bit disappointed.

Being in traction for hours is quite painful but he did it....to be able play! He never took pain medication....he just worked through it. If you've never had back or neck pain like that...its hard to explain what its like to live with. Bird more than anyone else...I think understood what Magic was going through.

Game 4 of the 87 series. Magics baby sky hook. The lakers should never have had the ball with 7 seconds to go. Watch the 2nd free throw that Kareem misses. The ball clearly goes out of bounds off of Magic. It should have been Celtics ball and History would be different . Maybe 4 rings each as it should have been
