I literally cried when I watched, and again rewatching it through reactions. 😭😭 Tae’s acting is incredible (IU’s too)!! Her voice is perfection. In the MV, he’s blind in one eye and she’s deaf. They’re seeing a perfect, imagined world through the camera, letting their love take them through the hard times. Then at the end when she realizes they’re going to die, she covers his one good eye so he doesn’t have to watch, and when it shows a close up of her covering it you see a tear leak out as he accepts his fate. Ugh so good and emotional!

The boxes represent all the prejudices and judgements of the society. And when you don't fit in those boxes society will tear you down. Handicap (IU is deaf or mute and Tae and his blue eye), age gap (woman is older than him that represented by her most of the time dragging him). It's not about the end of the world. But it's them against the whole world. They were happy with their love of each other but people where mocking them, judging them. Their happy times at the restaurant and the wedding party. The anonymous face pointing there fingers. Them alone in the world since they are marginal lovers.

This MV was beautifully portrayed not only with IU’s incredible voice but both of her & V’s acting abilities. Their facial expressions & body language embodied the lyrics of the song. When V was a guest on IU’s Pallet talk show they sang 2 beautiful songs together & at that time V talked about wanting to act in a sci-fi movie. I am so pleased that she & her crew made this happen for V before his enlistment. She & V have been friends for a long time & they have great chemistry together. I knew this mv was going to be excellent, but I didn't expect it to move we all like this. The tenderness (almost innocence?) between them was so disarming. And then the hopelessness of it all... The director said that the cube represents the discrimination people face by society 😢the cube hunts down these people who are considered "faulty" in this society and annihilates them. Here IU is deaf and Taehyung is blind and they love each other, but society won’t let them be happy by discriminating against them. Perhaps the message behind this video is the discrimination people feel and experience. It was so beautiful that they stayed together and comforted each other till the very end. IU was tapping in sign language "I love you" to Tae (on his shoulder) and hiding his good eye so he doesn't have to be face to face with it 🥺It also has to do with the fact that when V went on IU’s pallet talk show he said that someday he would like to act in an apocalyptic drama, and now a few months later IU made his wish come true (sort of)

I was SO close to crying while watching this music video. The song is absolutely gorgeous! Her delicate vocals were attacking my heart and causing me so many emotions..😭😭💕 Seeing tae and iu acting as this adorable couple was TOO! MUCH! 🥺❤ If tae hopped on that song and sang with her.. that would've ended me right there. I would've combusted into a puddle. The MV is basically about two marginalized people (IU is deaf and Tae is blind in one eye) who are persecuted for loving each other. It's basically a metaphor that "different" people can't love each other. At the end, when IU realizes it's the end (because the cube was going to disintegrate them), she covers Tae's one eye so that this won't be the last glimpse of their life together. It's so sad and beautiful at the same time...

the biggest theory right now is that V is blind in that one eye, that's why in the beginning IU touched it when she saw it through the camera for the first time, and IU is deaf ( if you notice she only communicated through sign language), and at the end she covered his non blind eye for him so that he didnt have to see the end. its a truly beautiful video, so well written and directed

The pile of clothes has a deeper meaning. Originally Christian Boltanski built a pile of clothes with small piles of clothes around it and with a crane that would slowly pick up the clothes from the smaller pile and add it to the bigger one. The big pile of clothes illustrates the heaviness of all the hearts now lost. Every article of clothing symbolizes one person who died. So in the music video the clothes represent all the people who have died, that after we are gone we are all just a pile of clothes. Christian says "When the clothes are falling down its very optimistic. Like souls, they are free". So for me that makes the ending so much more profound.

Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful her voice alone and their emotional acting (especially Tae’s). I vaguely remember Tae in an interview just before he left, was asked if he wanted to act again, he said he would like to do a Thriller. I think he’ll for sure be remembered. My theory is because the Cube was hunting them because of their deformities, it’s like criticism and hating on people because they are different in color or gender identity. The Magic camera allowed them to be normal, dreaming and loving as they want, but they forgot about the cube, even though Tae fought to the end LOVE WINS ALL, LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. It’s all we have to stay together. That cube can represent so many things, even you computer screen. (Remember that blueish tint on their faces before the cube sucked them up, it was like when you turn on computer in a dark room) I just loved this MV & song ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Also the song lyrically is dedicated to IU’s fans who have accompanied her through out all the highs and lows according to the letter she released before this release. I’ve included the key points that IU’s agency released this morning from their official MV interpretation guide at the end of my comment (my comment is my initial thoughts and reactions before reading the interpretation guide.) For those who want to know the ‘official’ intended meaning of MV feel free to skip and scroll to the end of my comment. It’s so interesting to see how wrong some of us were… and how right some of us were… and I was pleased that some of the points I was right on but I totally didn’t pick up on the ending being positive actually… and ‘freeing them from oppression and pressure’. I thought it was a sad ending initially. It’s so 8nteresting to rewatch the MV after reading the official interpretation guide too. Personally when I first watched it… the MV moved me to tears. The song was intricately and exquisitely beautiful… IU’s Vocals gave me goosebumps. The subtlety in the acting was perfection and the visuals by both… just wow. Tae in all his sweetness, softness and gentleness was the honestly the definition of prettiness. There was something so beautifully vulnerable and delicate about him, that touched my soul. In terms of the meaning… In the Korean press releases of this song used in all the articles yesterday… IU said that: ‘I want to respect and support everyone who loves and lives in various ways with love rather than hate’ this and the statement before when the song was called Love Wins was released which talked about people who face prejudices and obstacles in love… Personally make me think that it’s showing that many people in love face stigma’s and obstacles for whatever reason in life for things that they are born with and have no control over. Personally I think when they look through the camera they see the perfect world in which everyone can live without the lense of hate where people don’t see you or judge you for your stigma’s or labels but they see the whole you. Another thing that I find beautiful with the sign language involved is that both IU and Tae have a history of sign language. IU with her ear condition and Tae has communicated in official sign language many times (his birthday is even celebrated by some of deaf community in S.K). When it comes to the box I agree with your take, society trying to put us in a box… I also feel the box was representing the hate that tears people down and strips them of their humanity out of predjiduce. Personally I feel there was a wider message in this MV and feel that Tae very specifically chose to appear in this MV because of the message. I’ve lost count of times over the years where he has said he would like to side with the marginalised or the minority in life. From the creation of his drawn characters in numerous content, to his BT21 character, to his fairytale character he chose in the 7th Army Zip content that was tragically killed for being different. I feel like this MV very much fits with that ethos of representing and identifying with the marginalised in society. Also I think the message that love allows us to see the world with a healing and whole lense too. When IU sings ‘all love is love’ in amongst the lyrics I got goosebumps. This MV for me was very much Art. And the song was beautiful. Fantastic job IU and Tae. they're wishing it was real but they both know they are not going to make it much longer and also the vibes I got from this is that she is his guardian angel and he's the only one left so she's trying to protect him and he's imagining all of this and at the end she tries to save him but he decides that there's no hiding from this anymore so he's accepting his fate. I cried so hard during this whole MV. It brought me back to what I felt when I watched Hwarang. Beautiful Masterpiece
