this is group is awsome, you think they will ever travel to the Netherlands? Our best vocal group singing songs like this stopped last year sniff sniff, it was called Montezuma's Revenge, they were awsome as well. I hope SNC will come over here soon. I will buy a ticket for sure, and Im sure loads of people with me.

The thing with Vocal Jazz groups that change members year by year, is difficult to keep consistency. I still commend them for performing this song, it is so much fun! Congrats!

Very cool! I sang in choirs all through high school. Out here in the big world, I notice that vocalists always seems to find each other, whether it's in the subway in NYC or on a street corner in Mexico City. It's such a cool thing! A'capella singing HAS ALWAYS BEEN UNPLUGGED, YO!
@WFtootsie13 жыл бұрын
My choir is doing this next year because my director loves SNC and they inspired him to teach us this! :D

it may be a refernce to the SNC "12 Days" where they end up doing a christmas carol version of Africa
@karmickoala17 жыл бұрын
If you haven't already, check out the 12 days video by SNC. They incorporate this song at the end and it's flawless. :)

I just love it when people feel the need to write under every cover/remix how "the original is better". Guess what, different versions aren't always supposed to be better than the original. They're supposed to be interesting, different and a fresh take on a well known melody. Original song is great. These guys are great also. I like it.

u'r rite, this is true. i dono why everyone feels like they hav to be such a hardcore critic, geez they did a good job! leav it at that!
@okonh0wp11 жыл бұрын
I don't know, I think that's part of the fun and what makes someone really appreciate a capella music. I know I started loving listening to the genre when I saw the Sing Off and saw the judges pick apart the differences between good and truly great groups. I would think the critique motivates these guys to get better

Sure there are some slips but that was I believe in the late 1990's years ago and early in their career. Singing A Capella is tough and these guys have aged and perfected their craft to a very high standard. If any of you can do better then as other posters have said, "Record your best shot and wait for the reviews!"
@blueraven16614 жыл бұрын
to any1 who doesnt know this or notice it, this isnt the original group that has a cd; these are the "desendents" (new guys/the a cappella group @ the university) of the original. otherwise, they wuldnt b sounding like this

No, blueraven166's got it right. While this is the same band name and the same university, this is not the group that we all know and love that is on tour.
after listeing to unc and snc versions of Africa many times... I still think SNC's version is more enjoyable. I think it might have to do with their sound. It's a much fuller sound, maybe because they all have their own mics??? I also think the SNC soloist has a better sound than UNC's. UNC might put on a better live performance though... I just discovered both groups recently.

@PollockQT15 жыл бұрын
I love the singer's style and voice, but I think it doesn't give the 80's rock touch that I love so much about the song, but still, I believe he made that song his and sang it his way, and that was works even better ^ ^ Also the other guy is funny, you know who I'm talking about lol
@cidspimms12 жыл бұрын
All those complaining about pitch, rushing or singing flat, break out your camera; and record your version of "Africa", then post it, and the rest of us will judge you as you have judged SNC.

ive seen it. i liked it. but those were the guys in '98. and they were a lot better than these ones. the new ones have a hard time shifting keys and getting those harmonies

It might not be the same guys, but it certainly is the same group.
@jacobsky1815 жыл бұрын
beautiful, but i still like the original group is better no necessarily because of pure vocal talent or sound but they put their SOULS into it, they didnt just sing it they SANG IT if you know what i mean but great job :)
@georgebaggy17 жыл бұрын
the difference between you guys and the original is that they were more connected to the music. they just had better stage presence.

the problem is that they only have better than average singers. and lack a few exceptional ones such as jerome back in the original group. its obvious when the tenors have to go and octave higher the spirit of the song is not there.

Not my favorite arrangement of this song, and expectations are always so high with Toto. Sometimes the blend is off, which just shouldn't happen when everyone has a mic. Overall, though, this is an exceptional live performance, and was well worth the watching.
