There was an interview where iu talked about each of the vocalists coming from diff generations iu in her 30s, hyein in her teens, jo wansun in her 50s, & the special narration patty kim who is a legend herself & retired 10 years ago but did this special feature at the request of a handwritten letter by iu. She said each vocalist was singing about important women in our lives iu = her mom, hyein= her 1st friend, & jo wansun = role model but i think the mv was done focusing primarily on the mother-daughter relationship which is why the mobius strip kept popping up. Its an endless loop where daughters eventually become mothers & begin to understand their mother. In the mv this is why mother & daughter are depicted as being around the same age. The daughter is now at the age of her mother in her childhood memory.
