I like both but always thought Gunna was the better overall artist even though lil baby is the better rapper phonetically. I think the issue is there was and kinda is a lull in high quality street rap or trap music. Look at who's come out, and you have those who grow w and serve a particular audience (rylo, moneybagg, etc) but at the next step up the artists that are there, I'm sorry, are plainly lack luster or mediocre. Yes, the sound does sound interesting and unique and if their hand is played correctly they'll be able to take full advantage (gonna, Durk, baby). But it comes w the caveat that there needs to be a big switch, evolution or step up. B/c once they get to their "height" ppl will soon quickly become bored or feel like the sound is too repetitive and they aren't bringing anything new. I feel like this is where lil baby is. He isn't ass he just putting out the same stuff he's been for the last 6 years the issue is if you look from 4 years back to now the step up in music isn't really there.
