The Drake diss would’ve hit harder if Rick Ross hadn’t released champagne moments. Releasing that within a couple hours with the French Montana and cosmetic surgery allegations was awesome. It made me remember that Kendrick barely even had to get specific in his verse, but it still got drake to run to the studio. Then Drake waits a couple weeks to release a pretty solid track, but then leaks it on purpose for some reason, but it’s probably related to marketing. Ross listens to it, takes 2 hours and came back with receipts, so imagine what Kendrick is holding back. Drake made a full length song and still couldn’t come up with anything on anybody outside of billboard numbers and publicly available information. Then he’s got the audacity to end his song by threatening to dig up the dirt. HE SHOULD HAVE SHOWN UP WITH THE SAUCE! This battle is about going after your opponent’s character and rap persona, Ross was locked in on that while drake was shielding himself behind album sales.

I feel the leak was intentional. Either because Drake didn’t know if it would be well received or if his ego is too far gone that he thinks they’re actually beneath him. I don’t know which but pride is a strong factor. Leaking is generally, to my understanding, frown upon and if it was a leak, I could see Metro, Future, Kendrick, and Ross using “leaks” to make him insecure. But listening to Drake’s diss a couple of times and seeing this Easter egg video, I can see how it feels like were at game 7 finals with drake up by 3 pts in the last quarter. P.s.
