Kendrick is HIM. the rapping was impeccable. breath control crazy. clarity crazy. crowd management crazy. the inflections. the adlibs. no backing track. not a sip of water as far as we know and the ability to put up so many new acts. pay homage to his OGs and celebrate his contemporaries. i teared up at the Black Hippy set ngl. Kendrick really was the only one except Snoop who can push the button. the Pop Out was the real red button

Going by what I've heard from people from Toronto, both those I know and folks online: Toronto isn't getting behind Drake. That man's a menace and the people who actually live there have been waiting for someone to take him down a peg for *years.* Anyway, even as a painfully white nerd from the East Coast, I immediately grasped the significance of having those three groups onstage together and getting along like that. I was honestly stunned.

Kendrick Lamar is a real man. You can just see by the way he carries himself. The way he has kept same relationships.. the friendships that might have fallen off that you won’t see people online clout chasing on him.. the way he stayed loyal to the mother of his children despite the flaws he admitted to.. the way everyone else gives him back that same energy of RESPECT !! People need to give him his flowers now.. that man is good! He’s a good man.

The moments of "The Pop Up" that got me the most dewy-eyed were 1) Tommy The Clown re-emerging on a major stage for the first time in a while with the unbelievably talented new lineup of "Battle Zone", 2) the unification of Black Hippy on stage and 3) the Nipsey Hussle tribute. 🥲 Meanwhile, Drizzy appears to be in the early stages of plotting his country music side quest: hoping to replicate Post Malone's breakout success there. I can already see him sneak-dissing three dozen current country stars and legends in his first three songs and thus uniting the whole country music community against him much like the West Coast here, hahahahaha! It’s the south up north but at the same time so south Florida is its own thing and not southern for the most part outside of like areas in between central and south. And then central Florida is like a big mixed bag because it’s southern but then there’s so many people from all over including so many from NY that it’s just a melting pot. Like I lived in central Florida and my next door neighbor was the biggest red neck. But mad cool like he would take me fishing. But then like my other next door neighbor but Jamaican and the other was newyorican and another was just from Minnesota.

3:32 Hyup, you're pretty much spot on. DJ Hed interviewed with XXL the morning after the show (it's on their YT channel) where he said what you're essentially saying. It was beyond the beef. And another YT CC thinks this concert was what Dot's real goal was after hearing his mention of Nipsey and Kobe. And man how he united the West Coast at that moment. It was moving and spectacularly spiritual, imo. The concert also laid to rest the "he was buying bots to spike up 'Not Like Us' numbers." (Drake stans are really grasping at straws; it's funny but sad at the same time lol) I saw and felt only love for K-Dot from that crowd. The significance of Juneteenth 2024 in that relatively tiny corner of the country is really one for the history books.
