He's not talking about you. He's talking about rappers and people that popped based on meme or hype music when they were young, and now they have nothing to show for it, because rhey disn't actuallt take the craft seriously. Compare this to guys like Tyler the Creator, Joey Badass, JID, Earl Sweatshirt, Denzel Curry, Smino, Kenny Mason, Migos, Baby Keem, Lil Baby, Don Toliver, Noname, Lil Simz, Tierra Whack, etc who all started rapping very young teens, but took it seriously. Now, they all have literally massive, critical acclaim and die-hard fanbases that will support and buy their music until they die. They focused on actually and genuinely caring about the craft, constantly improving and putting out quality music. They're basically set for life, have massive amounts of respect from the hip hop community and culture, and are supported by all the legends and pillars of hip hop. At the time thq5 they were teens, they weren't as popping as other acts who chased trends, but they didn't succumb to just dropping music for the sake of trends and compromising their sound. They stayed true to the craft, took it seriously, constantly improved, and continued to put out quality music. Now, years later all of the "popping" artists who were popular and chasing trends at that time have all fallen off, are nowhere to be found, and no one cares about their music. Meanwhile, the above artists and others who took it seriously are now outselling all of them, have critical acclaim, hav3 massive diehard and supporting fanbases that will support them to the end, and some even have made it to the all time/legendary list.
@myjciskate417 күн бұрын
@@micho3444He's not stating starting before 25 is bad. Its actually a good thing. You shoild be starting before 25 and taking things seriously. Most successfull artists, even ones who started popping much later, were still taking it very seriously as teens and were committed to the craft. 2pac, Biggie, Nas, Jay, Em, Snoop, Rakim, Ice Cube, Lauryn hill, Missy Elliot, Mos def, Black Thought, Pharell, Lil Wayne, Tech N9ne, Kendrick, Cole, Travis Scott, Chance the rapper, Tyler the Creator, Joey Badass, Vince Staples, xxtentacion, Juice Wrld, Lil Peep, Skii Mask the Slump God, Lil Uzi Vert, playboi carti, JID, Denzel Curry, 21 Savage, Lil Yachty, Meg tha Stallion, NLE Choppa, Cordae, Ken Carson, Yeat, Kenny Mason, etc. all started extremely young and in their teens, but decided to actually take or start taking their careers and/or music seriously. Notice how all of those names are from a bunch of different generations. The key factor is tha5 they all took their careers abd judic seriously. Even goofy ass Soulja boy was grinding on the marketing and early internet side of things for years as a young teen. Thats the point. The guys who take it seriously and think long term are the guys that maintain longevity and success long term. The guys that chase trends abd dont take their careers and music seriously largely fall off or become irrelevant because no cares or toom thrm seriously.

New artist, especially rappers, don’t make any money. They sign usury contacts, spend their advance on depreciating assets and have kids that they don’t see and can’t afford. The SoundCloud Rap Era of 2017-2019 always reminded me of late 70s disco. Both genres were super dominant, both were dance genres with a focus on high fashion and status, both only lasted 3 years, there was a backlash against disco and Rock replaced it (Hair Metal) there was a backlash against SoundCloud rap and Rock replaced it (Emo pop punk revival) I don’t think SoundCloud rap will ever have a big mainstream revival in the 2030s or anything like that. Artists like lil pump seem too much like the 2010s to fit in any other context. SoundCloud rap will probably be viciously mocked in 10 years by Gen alpha
@harvest4449215 күн бұрын
The shittiest iterations will get mocked for sure, but the songs from that wave that actually blew up will be fondly remembered for a long time. There is an advent of cultural cannibalism though, songs become momentarily famous, for like a week and then they're discarded. The most recent example I can think of is Let Me Know with Tamar Braxton and Future.

You bring up a really good point about some of these other rappers blowing up from some of the very first songs they ever released. With artists of the past, because they had that period of time where they honed in their sound through trial & error, not only were artists of the past able to have an easier time maintaining a position within the mainstream spotlight, but some of them had enough experience to keep an ear to the ground, look for new & upcoming artists to prospect, and elevate their own careers by jumpstarting the careers of upcoming talented artists who are more in touch with what’s trending within music. You don’t really get that with a lot of the Soundcloud rappers that were popping off around the late 2010’s/early 2020’s because of how young they were when their careers popped off, as well as how as you said, a lot of these artists popped off from some of their earliest material, so they didn’t really have a lot of time to listen in and see what worked and didn’t work. A phenomenon like this almost makes me wonder if the industry is purposefully set up like this to keep mainstream artists from being able to maintain a position in the spotlight so that said artists don’t wind up gaining influence within the industry, allowing this cycle to continue or even evolve into a business that’s even more ruthless than what we’re seeing now.

He also had shows here several times. The founder of F*ck Them named YakSha said that when Tekashi flew to Slovakia for the show, he came in only one outfit, he had to give him his clothes and underwear as well. He has one song featuring slovak rappers Dalyb and Zayo called "Jaguare". Not long after that, GUMMO was recorded, which released F*ck Them, and that's when 6ix9ine expanded in the US.

They're blowing up before they can even get organic fans because it's not organic. Their initial comeup is real but then they'll cut off all momentum. It's working just how it's supposed to be so the money stays in the industry. Fame is finite

Young man, they’re grifters. They are not real rappers or artists, they are business men, and very bad ones in fact. These aren’t talented men, they are good marketers.

Honestly, I blame the fans, and this throw away, disposable culture we live in. Fans aren't taking the time to help these artists longterm build a career and grow and develop. Its just cheap and fast, 'gimme something I can do a tick tock dance to and I'm out' so these rappers give the fans what they want and its 1 hit wonders all around. Sad.
