Thanks for the video. Interesting information. Chewing gum is.a bit distracting I guess.

I have the exact same oscilloscope!

Thank you so much for this. I already have a function generator and this makes putting together a curve tracer stupidly easy and accessible. Two components and some connectors.

thanks for this video.i have been trying to learn how to do this to test components and learned their properties..like the idea of the pot to adjust resistance. would like to know why is it necessary for two resistors in circuit, since only one channel will show current.I am sure I am missing some basic concept re that.i will try to build on a breadboard.have a cooertrohn 30 mgr function gen. You can do this with just 10 ohm current sense resistor, which is what w2aew does in his video. I added the 10K pot to allow limiting the current *through* the DUT, which allows you to test with currents down to about 2mA.

Ive tried many solutions to build a curve tracer , none of them worked fine , or because the voltage adjust , or because the frequency adjust . Your solution is the best and more flexible (needs a good FG, with "high" voltage, and offset) . Thank you very much to help others .

Thank you so much for the great Video, I just came across your channel I am very new to electronics Can you share the detailed diagrams and schematics of the wiring of the IV tracer box? Thanks again

Hi - full schematic is at 2:55 in the video. Construction is non-critical and can be in any enclosure, or just on a breadboard.

@@GaryLaRocco Hi Gary, Thank you for your prompt reply. I hoped to get the wiring diagram in your IV curve tracer box. I got the same box with a 10K pot I am unsure about the wiring connections in the box. Thanks

Hello, I have a 3-in-1 device with Owon HDS2102s model oscilloscope and functional features. Is there any harm in using this project on the same device? I mean, can I send signal through signal generator first and watch the curves on oscilloscope?
@GaryLaRocco7 ай бұрын
if your scope has a built in function generator, you can absolutely use that.

Great video. I love old tek gear as well. Im going hunting for a signal tracer on ebay once i sell a piece of gear

amazing. exactly what I was trying to do

I love the neatness of everything you do. I set up the same thing, but I was undecided, so I put several resistors connected with microswitches to set different current steps. The result was not as pretty as yours 😅

I used fixed resistors for the octopus I built. There aren't too many rules for making these - most are made with whatever bits you have on hand, and that works for you. 🙂

I suck at drawing man and I've been doing it for years but I find hobbyist people like myself rarely as neat as a person who plays an engineer in real life haha
