Nvidia completely cheaped out on the 4060. That is why it gets lots of criticism and hate. The 4060 is based on the AD107 chip, and if you were to go by previous generation Nvidia GPUs, the 07 chip is normally used for the 50 class GPUs. This is the first time Nvidia has used an 07 chip for a 60-class GPU. The 60-class GPUs normally use the 06 chip. For example, the 3060 was on GA106, the 2060 on TU106, the 1060 on GP106, and now, all of a sudden, the 4060 uses AD107 instead of the AD106 chip it was expected to use. It makes no sense. This is just a shady marketing tactic that Nvidia used to try and trick gamers into thinking it's a 4060 when it's a rebranded 4050 in disguise. Nvidia is ripping off gamers in the low-end and midrange segments.

Love NVIDIA GPUs! The 4060 is a great value, but tons of people hate on it. The power efficiency, compact size, temperatures, and quietness of the 4060 are all great reasons to get the RTX 4060. Obviously it's not a great GPU for 4k gaming, but if anyone is playing at 1080p or 1440p, it would be a decent budget GPU!

I think its still decent if you also play older games too, but then a 7600 or 7600xt would just be better value. If you have the money to buy only new AAA releases then you probably also have the money for a 7800xt/4070 minimum. Or you can get last gen games for dirt cheap and run those at 4k max settings.

I can see 1440p becoming mainstream, as those monitors are finally available at a price point attractive enough to make people skip 1080p. However, 4K is still many years away from reaching the same status. More than 5.

Judging by the RTX 50 leaks, it seems that the RTX 5090 and 5080 will offer a significant performance uplift. If you have a decent GPU that can get you through this year, it might be worth waiting to see what NVIDIA reveals at CES 2025 in early January. However, if you’re looking to enjoy your favorite games this holiday season, I believe that purchasing a 4070 Ti SUPER or a 4070 SUPER is still a solid option.

It’s not that bad. You can get a 4070 SUPER and play any game without RT enabled, using either DLSS Quality or Balanced. That’s what I’ve been using since March, and it’s been a pleasant experience.

4K 60 - yes. But you'll have to use DLSS resolution upscaling in the latest games. Also, ray tracing is usually too much for the 4070 SUPER to handle. Don’t change the resolution. Instead, use DLSS upscaling to achieve your preferred balance of performance and image quality.

4060 is a beast on a laptop. Nowadays you can get 4060 with 12450HX, 24GB DDR5 with 1TB NVME Gen 4 for the same price as my 3060 in 3 years ago. Times changed. 🤧🥲

That kind of upgrade would feel insignificant to me. You'll be getting ~30% uplift on average if you switch to the 4070 Ti SUPER. I don't think it's worth it. Might as well just wait for the RTX 50-series and build a new PC then. The next-gen GPUs should launch in a matter of months. First half of 2025.

I never use dlss, I don't like how blurry makes everything and the artifacts. That card can maybe get playable framerates for skyrim.... For newer games I would rather grab an rx 6800 used for the same price.

It's simple if your happy with 1080p gaming the 4060 GC is perfect, but so are the PS4 and xbox one.....If you need a pc just for windows apps you can get a laptop for $200-$500

If you set 4K, I think it's not necessary to reach the high setting in-game. The resolution carries the graphics very well. So 4060 is pretty good

Goodluck to you then, with games releasing in the future using unreal engine 5, and raytracing is automatically enforced with no option to turn off like avatar, i doubt you will not care about ray tracing.

I have a 4080S. I enjoy it and I do care about RT for sure. I play single player games for environmental immersion, and it does make a huge difference with 4k/RT/ FG/DLSS and it is amazing. But… I do not like to hold on to GPUs for more than 3-4 years. They appreciate quickly and just eventually turn to fancy paper weights. (For me) I went from 780 to 1080ti >2080ti > 4080S. I always just trade them in and update my PC because I think staying up with the tech is fun and it’s my primary be hobby. I’m married with no kids. I’m an amateur body builder and a personal trainer. So my money won’t be going to anything else that I _need_ If I just played cod/madden/console port type games of yearly releases I’d buy a 7900xtx keep it for 10 years and call it a decade. I kept my 1080ti 3700x combo but I’m shipping that off to my bff tonight for free. I used it for BF4 multiplayer @4k low graphics preset around 132 fps. Which is fine, but it’s hard to go back to no RT after using it for thousands of hours. I think the 7900xtx would be my option if I was a multiplayer gamer. But 4080s is perfect for my niche library. And I honestly might get the 5080 if they add more VRAM. Keeping the 4080s will depend on how much better the 5080 is. I never pay for titan/90 cards.

Sharpness? Like I play Wukong at 4K DLSS just for not getting a smudgy image at 1440p and lower. Some games just really suck at lower image sizes. Even with performance mode 4K it looks better than native 1440p with that title. There are use cases; of course if you can go all the way up to a 4090 or -80 go for it. The lower settings are going to be tied to vram tbh-Ti version can stay at high or above.

But honestly average consumers don't really notice a difference, like how many people used the Wii AV cables on big screen TVs back in the day for example?

I’d go with the 4060 VENTUS 2X. The 3060 is outdated and less powerful, and the Gaming X isn’t worth it if you’re prioritising value.

4060 is at best 1080p card, below 4070 Super, amd cards are better, and that card is 7900 gre alternative, that if you ask me is better buy, but in realistic scenario 4070S is better. just my preference... best deal is probably 4080 Super for now and if you are on budget, 6600 or 3060TI or 3070Ti or 6700xt or 6800

RTX 4060 is not a 4K card. even with scaling it will never shine through and show the true 4K beauty. so never , ever try to play 4K in this shit card. 4K is exclusively for 80's and 90's when it comes to the green team. will add 4070 super since that and 3080 are equal more or less when it comes to 4K with max settings.

Dlss must be always on quality and of course WITHOUT Fg!😜. If you can't achieve the desired fps,then it's better to lowering instead the game's settings!😜. 4060 is an overpriced 1080p card lol😂🤣,on 1440p and 4k,with only 8gb vram,low raw performance and dlss needed to be on performance to ultra performance..., stutterings and artifacts ruined the fun!😜. What a joke of a card for the price!(at the same price you can get a used 3070ti 12 gb or a brand new 6750xt 12gb with the same and even better performance of 4060ti), I'm very happy to play everything on 1440p ULTRA(Dlss quality) with my 4070 super😜.
