My experience with switching to AMD from nVidia has so far been absolutely perfect. I got an RX 6650 XT thinking of it as a temporary GPU, but have had zero issues whatsoever with the drivers (or anything really) and I love AMD's Adrenalin Software even more especially with the minimal install option as it contains everything I need with pretty much zero bloatware running in the background - a stark contrast in comparison to GeForce Experience. The only thing I miss is nVidia TXAA in some older titles, which otherwise have some rather bad anti-aliasing options (Assasisn's Creed Unity/Syndicate, Rise of the Tomb Raider to name a few), but that's pretty much it. Sure, nVidia is better at ray tracing, but it's not like I can just set ray tracing to ultra with an nVidia GPU and get high FPS either way, so, to a high refresh rate gamer such as myself, nVidia is as useless in ray tracing as is AMD. I used to be someone who was hoping AMD would succeed, so nVidia would lower their prices, but now I'm actually looking towards AMD's new GPUs way more than nVidia's as, to me, they've proven themselves to be a fantastic choice.

Hi mate, when testing video encoders you could try 2 things: 1) setting a fixed bitrate and doing multiple recordings with different bitrates (but always the same on both gpus) going down with numbers. In the end the best encoder will be obvious because at lower bitrates it'll simply have better quality. 2) you could set the same quality factors (for example crf or qp) and see which GPU recorded the heaviest video, a heavier video for the same quality is usually due to less efficient compression. Keep in mind that you should record the same scene if possibile or something that's reproducible, also it is better not to record almost static scenes because most likely you would not see the difference.

You are cpu bound in all games, especially on rx 6900 xt at 1080p.Raster performance ,the 6900 xt should be around 35-45% faster. You should try undervolting, had a rx 6800xt, undervolted to 1050mv at 2200mhz with fast memory timings it was faster than AMD stock while drawing 184w, the 6900xt should be capable of similar results.

I actually own an RX 6950 XT and an RTX 3070, for most things the 6950 performs a bit better, and I prefer to not use upscaling, if I have to DLSS is better, bot FSR isn't as terrible as many reviewers claim. On newer games that use a lot of VRAM the 6950 works much better. Honestly, if the prices were similar I would got with the 6900. Keep in mind I don't stream or do any sort of productivity work, so to me I just want a gaming card, and if I wanted to try a little video editing or streaming, even an RX 6600 would be sufficient for that at a hobbyist level, as a matter of fact my brother streams Rust for several hours per day, and is very happy with his RX 6600.

I hope you see this comment as I have a few questions... What is your CPU? What is the tier/Wattage of the PSU? What case are you using? These are all things that could affect jumping from a mid-range GPU to a high-end GPU. One other question I have is what model did you buy, and if it was used. Not all companies that make AMD cards do it well, I'd love to say that there is a lot of competition in the GPU market but there really isn't. Many fibs that make both nVidia and AMD usually care for nVidia way more, making way better model and such, whilst not giving a shit with AMD. One thing that may be affecting you performance would be you drivers, most people recommend resetting windows you you get a new CPU or GPU. One other thing to consider as well is that the games you had shown are quite easy to run, and some even rely more on you CPU than GPU, and when it comes to Minecraft, in my experience, with mods not matter the system, the frame time will be shit.

The reason fans don't spin is usually because the GPU passively is cooled enough. Literally all the good new games don't need/have ray tracing. God of war: None, looks like it does. Black myth Wukong: added after the fact by nvidia, devs said the artistic vision was built without raytracing, and it looks way better without imo. Lego star wars the skywalker saga: None, but looks like it does. Stray: None, looks like it does. Warhammer space marine 2: None There's more, but usually the only games that get good raytracing are AAA slop, I'll stick to my 7900XTX.
@GodKitty677Күн бұрын
Black myth Wukong doesn't have raster support in DX12. Lumen is the software RT method used in DX12 mode, its designed for AMD cards. Full RT is better than Lumen for graphics quality. Warhammer space marine 2 is a different game with lumen support as its UE5.
@prem354821 сағат бұрын
Actually Black Myth Wukong uses RT by default. In lower settings, it uses software RT for performance that sacrifices accuracy. In higher settings, it uses hardware RT and increases accuracy. Even then 7900 XTX matches the RTX 4080.
@GodKitty67717 сағат бұрын
@@prem3548 7900xtx doesnt match a rtx 4080 using lumen source techspot. Doesn't match a 4060 ti with hardware RT in Black Myth Wukong. The RTX 3090ti is FAR ahead of the 7900xtx. Remember a 4060 has frame generation.
@prem354815 сағат бұрын
@@GodKitty677 Yea your right, the 4080 is 4 FPS faster, but it is very close. As for hardware RT, I think you are confusing it with Nvidia's Path Tracing. If you run the game with Very high or Cinematic Preset, then you are using lumen's hardware RT. Nvidia Full Ray-Tracing is the new Path Tracing mode they made for their 40-series GPUs. And you are correct, in this mode 4060 Ti is faster but, does it really matter when even the RTX 4090 can't maintain a stable 60 FPS at DLSS performance mode on 4k? This setting basically adds better shadows and reflections and kills the performance on everything. When hardware gets cheaper and faster, that's when this mode will matter.
@GodKitty6779 сағат бұрын
@@prem3548 There is no such thing as Nvidia path tracing. Also RT requires pure processing power, path tracing which is RT requires the most. As we can see Nvidia cards like the 3090 ti have 60fps averages which is playable and the 4080 has 100's fps. UE5 was designed from the ground up for amd cards. There is an option for path tracing under the lumen settings. The only reason for poor performance for amd cards is weaker RT hardware. AMD state that they will improve their RT hardware in the next series of gpus they release. AMD are now going to copy nvidias method because it gives the best performance. Also gpus have been always tested at maximum settings in benchmarks.

There is a big problem with your thinking. Majority of people build an entire PC for the price of your GPU. Right now you can build an entire PC with the 7900 XTX for the price of an RTX 4090. You burn cash all you want but, if we talk about long term, tell the people who bought a 3060 Ti, 3070, and a 3080 over 6700 XT, 6800, and 6800 XT, they made good long-term investments. Those people got screwed out of DLSS 3 Frame-Gen, and games were unplayable at launch because Nvidia gimped the VRAM.

@@prem3548 This comment wasn't really supposed to be debated but I'm guessing the amd ego is real Nvidia has undoubtably better build quality durability for gpu and better looks while also having better performance, the rtx 4090 will be almost the same performance as the next best amd gpu coming next year theyre either gonna be the same or similar like always, amd guys always say the argument oh theres more vram but why is it so important most amd gpus cant run 4k to even use up that vram, Vram doesn't equal performance it equals to how much a game can process, even the best amd gpu dosent do as well at 4k as for example a 4080, personally the 4080 for me is cheaper then the 7900 xtx. And how is it my fault that amd people cant afford nvidia cards? 2k isnt a lot for me and i spend another 2k for components, and my pc gets +100% performance compared to even one of the best 7900 xtx builds. And people who bought nvidia cards at that time are more lucky then the amd consumer since theyre being supported for longer and also after drivers updates its better then all of those mentions amd cards in most games no dlss. My thinking isnt a problem its just factual and also for a few of those mentions gpus broke after everyday use, and i haven't seen a broken nvidia gpu that's been used everyday. Also there was never an incident were nvidia gpus were unusable youre just coping at that point

Im a 3d modeler for some video games and i just need that performance i know amd made some changes to make it atleast bearable but compared to a 4090 its literally a joke its almost like a 2 thousand dollar difference in performance even tho the 7900 xtx is 900. @@cacadrink 1. I have never seen anybody care about the build quality of a GPU because there isn't any difference to talk about. What matters are the temps, fan noise, and looks. The only decent point you made here is that you think Nvidia cards look better. That's your opinion and I disagree because the Nitro+ model this year is the best-looking GPU in my opinion. As for temps and fan noise, they are a non-issue now that AMD is not longer using crappy blower cards. 2. No one is saying "more VRAM=more performance". Everyone is sick and tired of paying $500+ on a GPU and then get a objectively worse experience than a $400 console where the textures disappear and the game is a stuttery mess. You with your 24 GB of VRAM won't notice it of course but, the reality is that people with the 3070s and 3080s were experiencing that with newer games. Nvidia could have given them more VRAM like AMD to avoid this issue but, they didn't. Also, even if the GPUs can't play at max settings or 4k, it doesn't mean the extra VRAM is useless. VRAM isn't just used more at higher resolution. There are many cases where excess VRAM is useful to have and I would rather have more VRAM than I need than VRAM that is just about enough to get by. I can just turn up the texture quality to the max without worrying about running out of VRAM, I can download an high-res texture pack mod and improve the games visuals, Features like Ray-Tracing and Frame-Gen increase VRAM usage, and recording in OBS increases VRAM usage. 3. I don't know what fanboy channels you have been watching but, the 7900 XTX is a 4K high-refresh GPU. Techpowerup found that the 7900 XTX gets an average fps of 93 at 4K native while the RTX 4090 gets 114. Their average includes a bunch of Unreal Engine 5 games and Avatar that use RT by default. That's only a 22.6% increase even when the RTX 4090 has an advantage. I have no clue where the "AMD cards can't do 4K" came from but that's not true. In fact, to get a budget 4K 60 FPS experience on AMD you just need spend less $500 with the 7800 XT while with Nvidia you need to spend more than $600 to get the same experience. 4. You are getting an 100% increase in performance with the 4090 over 7900 XTX in three Nvidia-sponsored games. Lets be honest with ourself here. Majority of the time you are playing at a 22.5% high frame-rate. The 2x performance is not normal and only happens when you barely make it run on a GPU. In Cyberpunk you will get 2x the performance but, did you really spend $2k to play at 40 FPS? I mean yea its twice as fast but, it's still only 40 FPS. If the 4090 is getting 40 FPS, that mean the rest of the lineup is trash too. 5. The last arguments are so dumb that they gave me legit brain damage. People who bought 3070 and 3080 will be glad that they will be supported for longer than AMD? No, dudes that bought those cards and now selling them off for $200 and $350 respectly to move on because they can't play the latest games without textures disappearing. They are not lucky by any means. Sure, they will have more driver support but, let be real here, you didn't buy a $500 or $800 GPU for longer driver support. You bought it as a 5 year GPU and it failed on that. 2 grand is not a lot for you huh? Great bro. How many 4090s are you donating then? None. Lets be real here $2K is a lot. $2k is what most peoples build cost. $2k is the price of most 7900 XTX builds and those guys are getting 80% of your experience. This "AMD guys poor" is the dumbesting thing ever. I can't wait until waste $3K on a 5090 or 6090 and get conned because at that price you used get the Quadro GPU drivers and support. Now you don't get either of those.

If you are just gaming AMD in every second hand market is better value cuz they sell less compared to nvidia, like even me i bought an nvidia card second hand just to make videos and work and it was expensive still, and with a similar amount of money i could have gotten a 20% better AMD card(cant work on it tho so yeah..). amd is indeed not bad at all but nvidia is just superior to many things the reason nvidia is overpriced because they have more features that amd/intel doesn't have yet. hence, amd can sell it cheaper because they knew they will screwed up if they try to keep up with nvidia gpu price for about same raw performance, but that one has more features. but i can tell many people don't really need nvidia features actually (I'm saying this because i currently using rtx 2060 super, yes old card 😔) nvidia broadcast is the only thing nice here, and i used it everyday and i can't seperate my self from it. but yeah definitely go amd if you don't care those stuff and just go straight gaming, btw rx 7900 gre with that price stomps every gpu 🤫🧏♂
