@@Marcell0Bass Nothing in his voice says bass. Anyone can develop a strong strohbass extension. I’ve seen similar low notes produced by TENORS. Jeremy Peace who’s a high tenor can produce similar low notes with strohbass. On top of that, Ivan’s passaggi and timbre very clearly are a baritone voice. He has talked previously in interviews about being a ‘dramatischer bariton’. I have also consulted on this with several people in the classical field, both teachers and opera singers and they agreed on him being a natural baritone. Not a bass.

@@Marcell0Bass The lowest pitch he sang in M1 (chest/modal voice) in this video is a B-flat 1. All below is a quite audible strohbass to my ears. That being said, I hear him go into strohbass as 'high' as Eb2. But generally moreso around C#2. Which is a fairly common switching point.
@faouziahuangxiaoyunbrandyn18143 жыл бұрын
@Kaji Actually his timbre is even quite bright in baritonse, a lot of tenors are darker than him such as Joshua Henry. But the density and passaggio speaks dramatic baritone.

@@bradycall1889 I just think chest fry should be distinguished from other strohbass (if it’s in that category) since it’s still accomplished by lowering the voice (as opposed to controlling the speed of airflow like with just fry or using any kind of overtone singing). Went into a little chest-fry below F1... but that is still pretty damn impressive. My vocal range is considerably larger (Eb0 using subharmonics, C1 in chest-fry, D1 in full chest, to C6 in falsetto), but his ability to manipulate his falsetto and to have a chest voice that extends all the way to A4 (all while being a legitimate basso profondo) is beyond most mortals, and better than I can do.
@bradycall1889 Жыл бұрын
The interesting thing about him is that he's got both bass and baritone-like properties to his voice. His passaggio and his high notes seem to be that of a baritone, while his low notes seem to be that of a bass. Some people out there say he was a baritone, and others a bass, though the sources calling him a "baritone" are mostly composed of crazy people who love to troll, but there is a slight chance that they could actually be right. I am not 100% sure what I believe about it. If I had to guess he is probably a bass-baritone, leaning more bass than baritone. Basically, he was probably a high bass though I am not quite sure. Now if you want to get mad at me and call me a troll, that's understandable. I used to fight internally at the idea that he might have perhaps been a baritone. I used to have trouble getting my mind around it as well.
