@@ijl-cy9pp would love a different option. Unfortuntely Southgate isn’t known for having a plan b. That was proven in the friendlies Watkins was ineffective and didn’t look comfortable. Toney on the other hand had a certain swagger about him, he looked comfortable. I completely get your point, in an idealistic world it would be lovely to have Ollie Watkins come in and switch it up, Southgate has proven over and over again he will stubbornly stick to his guns. On that basis I’ll have Toney

Gareth Southgate will know only too well, from personal experience when he was a player, how important it is to have someone on the team who never fails when taking penalties. The Sun reveals that Toney has scored 28 of his 30 career penalties which it says is an astonishing record. For that reason alone he should make the England Euros squad, though he has many other excellent qualities too. Make sure he's on the plane, Gareth!

This reminds me of the Owen/Shearer debate, they are both great, but they are very different players who have only one thing in common, they are good footballers. I thought that the job of a manager/coach was to take the best out of the staff at his disposal I was wrong. England has never had so much talent at its disposal, when are the excuses for managerial failures going to stop? At this time, England might as well appoint Steve Bruce. So much talent and they are going to have nothing to show for it.

What a 🤡. Watkins had just over 10mins on the pitch and kept the ball alive for the equalizer. Konsa was arguably the best defender on the night and qith a passing accuracy of 98%.

You should just delete this comment. Actually you should probably consider not commenting on football again. Konsa didn't put a foot wrong from what I saw. Was not at fault for either goal and had Vini Junior in his pocket the previous game. Watkins had 10 mins and was the only reason the ball was alive for an equaliser. Dunk had a shocker TBF.
