If Utd were selling Branthwaite right now they’d be asking £100 million and if no-one was prepared to pay it then he be staying. He should be starting for England in the Euros and Southgate missed a trick there. Utd can’t expect to get him on the cheap and Everton board should not allow themselves to get bullied. Also if it were City or Arsenal coming in for him you could understand the player wanting to play for Arteta or Guardiola who would improve him but not Ten Haag or a struggling Utd team.

Why I crack up when people claim friendlies and pre-seasons don't matter. These people have zero ball knowledge. Maybe not in terms of the overall scoresheet, however they absolutely do because someone who used to play football I know it can hurt a teams confidence, have an emotional toll and make a team feel as if they have gone backwards in some aspect, or that they have not gotten something right before hand. When a team is mentally and emotionally rattled it can linger. It also exploits a teams weaknesses for other teams to try and exploit to push for mistakes and critical errors.
