Worth noting, Star Trek also did the "make up swear words" bit, with one scene in TNG having a Romulan Admiral using Klingon profanity to insult Worf, and Riker using Romulan profanity to insult the Admiral in exchange. Other times they'd just have Picard swear in French, which is of course no more a real language than Klingon is.

I agree, that’s one reason I find it so insulting when the left pushes the idea that there haven’t been any strong female characters in movies and in science fiction, as by doing so they completely discount Ivanova, Delenn, Ripley, Leila, Sara Conner and countless other amazing strong female characters over the years. The problem rises when you don't think of the female characters as more than just being female... For a great majority of all the scenes in B5 you could gender reverse the rolls, and it still makes sense as there is no gender propaganda being pushed... Even from the most sexist species ,the centauri, there was still plenty of scenes showing strong powerful women that wasn't just hating men because they were men...

Ivanova kinda reminds me of Major (later Colonel) Kira Nerys from Star Trek: Deep Space 9. They're both great at their shared job, that being the long-suffering but well-respected second-in-command of a massive space station populated by aliens from all across the galaxy (and when I say aliens I am including Humanity in that list as we are all aliens to each other). Which makes me think what a crossover between DS9 and B5 would look like. I'd imagine Londo would automatically be on Odo's radar for all the nonsense he causes, and Sisko would probably ask G'Kar to stop singing after he receives a petition (led by Quark) for G'Kar to stop singing

I saw Claudia Christian once in a store at JFK or LaGuardia in 2007. She was in line to check out, and I was a couple people behind her. She looked back and we had eye contact. I just smiled and she went on about her business. I just really wanted to go up to her and ask "Boom today?", but I know from living in L.A. you just leave actors alone in public and give them their privacy. She still looked great then as well. One of the best characters on B5. She typically got the snappiest lines.

I loved Ivanova. Claudia owned this. She terrifies everyone, and I think she is at least 50% of the reason why the Shadow War was successful.

She was named as one of the people who could replace Sheridan a couple different times. And of course she did a pretty good job when she did replace him toward the end of the Earth Civil War. The Shadows probably should have been more afraid of her than Sheridan to be honest.

To preface, B5 is my top favorite TV series ever. The Shadows ship is the scariest alien space craft in all of Sci-fi. With that, Buffy the Vampire Slayer has a good, strong female lead and some very witty dialog. Look up the episodes "Hush" and "Once More With Feeling" Buffy: "I get nervous and I start babbling ... and he starts babbling ... and it's a babble fest." I briefly met Claudia Christian once at a Renaissance Pleasure Faire. Very lovely lady.

Babylon 5 is also my number 1 favorite series. It is a big inspiration to me in my own writing in all areas, but especially when it comes to character development and light-hearted humor.

Babylon 5 knew how to do strong female characters right. Lucasfilm and Marvel could learn a lot from this show. But they won't...😞
