girl u have not a never, u have THE never, and the audacity to talk to japanese fans like that. Ryuichi passed away not too long before IVE released this song, and fans have all the right to feel disrespected because of it, since Ryuichi himself didnt like the idea of allowing this song to be sampled. Combine that with a clearly low budget vid and you have all the ingredients to piss off a whole nation. Forget about your favs for one sec and have some damn respect for the memory of Ryuichi.

@andreapalmar244 That's why I asked if people like you who have already informed themselves, yall are so stupid that can't even look and know THAT the permissions were granted for the song, David Guetta has mentioned several times that the original work is by Ryuichi Sakamoto and that pays tribute to him, and that Ryuichi Sakamoto himself was involved. The sample they used for this song is from a piano piece composed by Ryuichi sakamoto called "merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence!" I totally recommend anybody giving it a listen!

I absolutely adore this song, whether it's the original masterpiece or a new version. It's truly amazing to experience a different emotional and creative interpretation of a beloved song. However, it's disheartening to witness the backlash that some people have towards the remake. Let's continue to explore new ideas and embrace change with love and openness.

A quote from Rolling Stone Daniel Kim, who produced the collaboration track “Supernova Love” by K-POP group IVE and world-renowned DJ David Guetta, shared his thoughts: I moved with my family from Korea to Germany when I was five years old, and that’s when I first experienced ‘cultural barriers’ firsthand. The film Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (1983) beautifully captures this theme, showing how love can transcend cultural and social barriers. I was also deeply inspired by the music Ryuichi Sakamoto composed for the film, and I had always wanted to express my admiration for it through a collaboration. So, when we were able to officially incorporate the melody of Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence into Supernova Love-what we in the music industry call ‘securing clearance’-I felt incredibly honored and thrilled. [Omitted] Releasing Supernova Love was a deeply emotional experience for all of us, especially because Mr. Sakamoto passed away just one month after the concept came together. Dedicating Supernova Love to him and sharing his legacy with future generations for years to come is not just an honor but a responsibility we carry with pride.

I am using a translator, so I apologize if the text is incomplete. As a Japanese student who is learning Japanese history, I know firmly that it is important to study carefully the many actions taken by Japan in the 19th - 20th centuries, as well as the many attacks it suffered from other countries. This is why I believe that anyone in any position should be careful in how they handle the subject of "war" in their works.

@@eo0-g9j I am not going to discuss here that Japan invaded Korea. I'm just complaining about Professor Sakamoto's music. In fact, Professor Sakamoto has never invaded South Korea, nor has he distorted or reconstructed Korean music. When I say I want people to respect Japan, I don't mean it in a literal sense, but I want them to consider the feelings of the other country. I think if you confuse the history of different countries with music topics, you'll lose sight of the essence of things. How would you feel if a great composer from your country made a song about war and prayed for peace and an idol from another country turned it into a love song and danced to it, even rapping it? Rather than thinking about the historical backgrounds between countries, I want people to think about the meaning of the music that was created.

this is the official description of the song -'Supernova Love' is The feeling when you first fall in love, Feeling like lightning strikes when the opponent finally shows up when it feels like he's been waiting for someone special for his whole life. The feeling of the world shining like a million shining stars. Feelings that love paints our world, shines a light on - a song that expresses the infinite power that love gives us. Moreover, the song contains an iconic sample of Ryuichi Sakamoto's legendary work, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, to deliver a heartfelt tribute to the late composer. "Supernova Love" perfectly combines the nostalgic beauty of the Ryuichi Sakamoto melody with the addictive beat, David Guetta's signature, to create an irresistible dance track.

Of course, the movie is one of them, but the image of the late Ryuichi Sakamoto playing "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence" on a piano covered by the tsunami in the disaster area of the Great East Japan Earthquake remains in my mind. The song that was sampled is important to Japanese people. There may be young people who learned about it through "Supernova Love," but please pass it on to future generations correctly. I love IVE and K-POP. I want them to make music with love and respect, and I don't want divisions to be created because of things like this.
