IVF | Can HCG Level Help in Determining Pregnancy Health?

One of the commonest questions which patients ask is about their HCG level.
Now you cannot determine whether the pregnancy is healthy or not based on a single HCG level. We need to measure at least two HCG levels, 2-3 days apart, to see whether it's doubling well or not. If it’s doubling, this is a good sign, which means the embryonic cells are growing well.
However, even this does not tell us if the pregnancy is viable or not, because the HCG is produced by that part of the embryo which is called the trophectoderm, which becomes the future placenta. Watch the video to know more :)

FET done on 11st May 7 PM on 26th May 11 AM UPT was weak positive & HCG was 39.39 , Doctor asked to repeat test after 48 hrs. Note - They also gave HCG injection after 3 days apart in during this time period. It is progressing in good manner ?? What is minimum value of HCG for good 5 weeks pregnancy ?? Dr My wife IVF done on 21st April with 5 days frozen embryo transfer..1st hcg count 2161 2nd hcg after 48hurs 4355 ..on 5th week bleeding started with clotting for 2 days..did again hcg count 5500..we have done utra sound on 10th May sac is seen with irregular margin with subchornic hemorrhage...after this now hcg done count 1250 which is decreased from 5550...Dctr asked to stop all the medicines Pls suggest what to do as bleeding stopped

This is bad news and the drop in HCG confirms you have miscarried, sorry The pregnancy is not viable and the uterus needs to be emptied with medicines ( mifegest and misoprostol)

There's no point in measuring HCG levels once they cross 1000 mIU/ml because ultrasound scans give much better information about the healthy of the fetus after this stage

Hello sir, after Fet 15th day HCG is 387, two days later it is 898. Then went for ultrasound on 6 weeks 3 days gestational age but it showed gestational sac of 7.9mm no yolk sac or fetal pole seen which is of 5 weeks only. Doc suggested Bhcg it shows only 6748.
