As a sole film, Hera Pheri definitely is better than its successor..It has a great screenplay, we get introduced to these characters and the soul is present... But for me personally as bizarre Phir Hera Pheri is, its comedy for me is heads and shoulders above its predecessor!! It is a very uneven film, Songs pop out of nowhere.. They simply didn't have an ending it just ends abruptly..So yeah my 2 cents on the discussion..

Its just a case of Sahil Shah having a bad choice in movies. Andaaz Apna Apna is a landmark. Everyone remembers every scene, every character for a reason. Even side artists like Robert are memorable. hera Pheri 1 is a 100 times better than the sequel. Next Sahil Shah will say Mohra is a classic and better than Udaan or Godfather or something. i agree with abbas because in terms of the emotional arcs for the characters, Hera Pheri is a stronger film. The story, the screenplay, the characters are so well-written. It has meaningful moments and you form a genuine connection with the characters. The sequel is just...jokes. At the end, it boils down to what you prefer. For pure comedy fans, maybe the sequel is more enjoyable, but as a cohesive film, Hera Phera is superior.

Rewatched Phir Hera Pheri after listening to this episode. Sorry guys but the movie is not as funny as it has been made out to be. I would still watch the original ( & Andaz Apna Apna) over the sequel. Having said that, I love your show and looking forward to more episodes :) Good Luck!

This is like when Americans tell other people they have an accent, and think they don’t have one. The ironic thing about most people who hate on Andaz Apna Apna is that they usually hype a different comedy movie which is equally contextual, and as much an acquired taste. There is no doubt that it’s a generational thing plus a question of when you watched Andaz Apna Apna the first time and if you appreciated comedy of that type back in the day - but that’s absolutely true for Phir Hera Pheri too.

Andaz Apna Apna discussion has led me to unsubscribe...Ok this is the most pretentious bullshit I've come across on the Internet. I used to recommend this podcast cause I thought it was common folk who love movies discussing movies. While this film is funny, one thing I feel that it severely lacks is the repeat value of the first. the first one still is quite funny on rewatches, this film fails to capture that because it repeats some of the same gags from the first. One more thing is this film has too many characters which takes away focus from the main trio and the film largely goes downhill after the large cast of characters is introduced.

The story copied from 'The Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels', the ending circus scene were copied from Charlie Chaplin movie 'The Circus' and original movies were more engaging as per th story, whereas comedy scenes and dialogues in Phir Hera Pheri are good.
