11 comments in 4 years? This is some of the greatest playing on earth. Maybe it takes a performer to understand that. I don’t know. I’ve been a performer of Bach for over 50 years, but on other instruments. I only began playing Bach on the piano about 4 years ago. In that time I’ve come to hear subtle differences in touch, in addition to phrasing and devotion to the line. This man does it all. Line, phrase, touch, voices & voicing. He always knows where the music is going, and he takes us there by becoming the music in its own era and giving us the tastes of Bach himself. My only complaint about videos such as this one is not about the artist or composer, but the video itself being interrupted in the worst of places by loud, obnoxious advertising that spoils the meditative, prayerful aura of he music and mood of the listener every time it happens. This music deserves to be heard uninterrupted. These compositions are among the greatest artworks ever produced by mankind, and they deserve that level of respect. Of course, to top it off, Pogorelich is one of the greatest pianists ever to play these. Argerich calls him a genius, and she herself is one of the greatest. Listen to these, people! Here are the products of humanity at its absolute best. Don’t miss them.

With ivo all is clear ! What a wonderful man/musician/pianiste, above all the others, ho yes, because he goes very deeply in the score, to the essence of Music : over the only beauty, there where Liberty is. With him it's always a great gift, i eat each notes with my soul, thank U Maestro ivo 🕊💓🙏

My perspective (from a non musician) is that Pogorelich's Bach is nothing short of divine. I can't help myself, I am a Bach addict, especially his keyboard works. My collection is rather excessively vast, Gould, Argerich, Richter, Perahia, and others. All have unique approaches, and I do have preferences. Trouble is they change from time to time as I catch things I may have missed before.

Grandissimo pianista ma fortunatamente Bach non sciveva per queste velocità ed interpretetzioni....

Would that not be the 1985/86 recording and release ? I think the thumbnail should, perhaps, reflect the artist at the age of the recording.

Only in Bach do I see Pogorelich avoiding his usual expressive devices and affectations. I can listen to his Bach all day...

IMO Pogo's "expressive devices and affectations" are actually an authentic part of who he is. Do you have the same dismissive opinion of Lang Lang?

Bach had in possession one of the first made hammer claviers and improved them, sold and promoted over harpsichords. The evidence of this had been suppressed, by under publicizing and resentment to change

I always appreciate the performances of Ivo Pogorelich if we talk about Johann Sebastian Bach. Ivo recorded not that much Bach but the audios her left to the world are full of inspiration and he understands the structure of each suite. I heard him after a very long brake playing Chopin piano concerto in f-minor in November 2021 and I must say that he played better than he was young because now it sounds always matured and experienced wich a young performer could never show!
