James hall would have been much better because he looked the part, he was younger and much cuter, a real blonde punk, I know you're all used to our Willie but he was such a Ham, he over did his scenes. @nassauguy487 ай бұрын
Had the character of Willie not been mellowed down, James Hall would likely have been kept. But after coming under the spell of Barnabas, Willie became tentative and timid, and James was simply too rough and rugged looking to fill that role.

@BethHarmon-uv7tlАй бұрын
@@marilynwillett804 Have to disagree (espcially about James Hall being cuter than John Karlen...not in my book!). I don't think Hall would have brought 1/10th of the complexity that Karlen did as Willie the vampire slave. Not saying John couldn't be hammy on occasion (especially when he had the dream), but he made Willie so much more likable and sympathetic, I just don't think James Hall would have been able to pull off. Hall was fired because there were problems with him on the set, so if you want to blame anyone for him not being allowed to continue in the role as Willie blame him. The show must go on, as they say. I'll be forever grateful that Dan Curtis hired a far more competent actor in Karlen. Just because an actor 'looks the part' doesn't necessarily mean they're the right guy for the role. Hall has proven that.

Maybe in the later episodes Sarah wasn't shown anymore, because she was growing bigger and taller? And Sarah died as a child, so even many years later the writers want her to STAY as a child.
@greenbrown77763 жыл бұрын
I think there were two issues and reasons why Sarah got dropped post-seance. 1. Ghosts can't age but little girls who play them do. You couldn't have utilized the same actress so much longer. 2. Probably more importantly, after the 1795 storyline, I'm not sure a nice little girl ghost was off the hook enough for them anymore. 1795 brought us a witch, a zombie, a fanatical preacher, a nefarious Naval officer in revealing tight pants and more. The audience loved 1795 and just going back to a vampire and his little sister ghost wasn't going to have enough wow factor after the wild ride in 1795. So that's why instead of Sarah, we got Dr. Lang, Adam, Cassandra, Nicolas Blair, Eve, Chris the werewolf, Quentin, etc.

@marilynwillett804 Sometimes we can look for love everywhere else and it can be right in under our nose and we don't even realize it. Which is why everywhere else he looked never worked out.

This a trivial matter but I have noticed there were a fair share of actors and actresses with overbites. 😆 strange...

Maggie had protruding front teeth and also Vickie or I guess it is called over bites, not sure what it is called,

Barnbabas being a Vampire was the main reason Julia didn't want him involved in any type relationship be it Vicki or Maggie she didn't want to see them become like him...............the first time I saw this show in Reruns I thought Julia was a spoil sport..thinking Barnabas has a right to be happy and have a women in his life......yes he was a Vampire but he shouldn't be lonely LOL

At 3:35, there's an audible cough from one the crew. What is it with this show that refused to ever do a reshoot, regardless of whether they forget their lines, call characters by the wrong names, obviously look up to read the cue cards as Johnathan Frid did even as he was choking Hoffman, have a boom mic enter the frame, or have a beer bottle roll into the frame in the middle of a scene?? Ok, I made that last part up, the but the rest are almost as bad.....

Video tape was still quite expensive back then, they would run through the scene once, then tape the performance and broadcast the recording.

Check the decades channel at 11-4, tomorrow at 9 P.M., PCT; they've been showing "Dark Shadows" episodes once a day, 5 days a week. No, this isn't a cable channel. They are showing them in 1966, and Maggie was recently kidnapped. At 8:P.M., they also showed two "Honeymooners " episodes I never saw before...

I realize that Sharon Smyth could not have gone on playing Sarah in the later years of DS, as ghosts do not age or mature. However, I wish that she had been kept on for some other role.

He also deeply loved his mother and Josette and Kitty Soames and he was attracted to Roxanne Drew, the writers added her in all of sudden.

He never loved her enough to actually move his butt and run after her when she ran out into the storm afraid of him in the mausoleum ,he stands there calling Sara Sara then Joshua said he wouldn't allow Sarah to visit Barnabas and Angelique in the old house anymore Barnabas never once protested.
@marilynwillett8049 ай бұрын
People project ''love'' from one character on to another but I never witnessed great love displayed I saw him give her a cup of tea. I saw her die in his arms and he din't shed a tear, but I guess he tried. He certainly looked more broken than Joshua ever did over Sarah's demise.

I never saw great love from Josette to Barnabas, I saw a silly rich girl interested in gifts and not wanting to be kissed by her fiance [under no curse at that time].
