This music by Mrs.Mills brings back memories of a bygone era. I still enjoy this style of music. There were others who belonged to this period to name a few. Russ Conway and Winifred Atwell. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Another medley of great tunes from yesteryear played for us by wonderful Mrs Mills. They don't compose, arrange, sing or play them like this anymore. Great melodies are strokes of genius and, like great paintings, if you don't preserve them, you lose them forever. Were it not for the wonder of KZbin and dedication of Uploaders like Ivoriesman, we who are of an age able to remember the wonderful melodies of yesteryear and know what to look for on KZbin would have virtually no music at all, as it disappeared from Radio Station airwaves decades ago.

You Ivoriesman, Sir, are a champion. Love this music so much. The Piano is the best instrument. If I am feeling "down", which is thankfully not often, all I need is Mrs. Mills, Charlie Kunz, Bobby Crush or any of the other Pianists you list in your profile page, and I am back to being HAPPY. Thank you so much for SHARING. TAKE CARE, cheers.

Hi Stephen - yes, two settings for 33rpm - one for 12", one for 7" - unusual at the time. The only 7" 33rpm I have is a maxi-single from the 70s by Mungo Jerry. (In The Summertime). Garrard - still the best, 48 years and counting.

I see good old Mr Kunz's spirit overseeing this one... Great upload Jo. That little coda thing at the end was interesting - it seemed to me (although I may well be mistaken) that it didn't get more "popular / used til after that late 1967 hit about Bobbie & Clyde (Georgie Fame). Maybe she pioneered it a bit...? (Just a random thought!)
@IVORIESMAN9 жыл бұрын
wordsmith52 ...ooh don't get all technical on me Steve - I take it by 'coda' you mean 'twiddly bit' at the end...:-) Tell you the truth these bits and pieces have been around for as long as I can remember. I spose it's highly likely that Glad 'invented' her fair share - it would be nice to think so - after all she was known for her 'twiddly bits' (her phrase).
@wordsmith529 жыл бұрын
***** yes I expect it was around already but she seemed to use a lot after the late 60s I think. Moi tecknikal?

She was great,not up herself like Liberace,she played what we all liked,she was not doing it for show,like a gay parade,but from the heart.!
@IVORIESMAN4 жыл бұрын
...yes, well said. Glad was always hugely underestimated in my opinion. The type of tunes she played unfairly gave her the 'pub thumper' label by the masses but a closer listen revealed an intricate knowledge of the tunes she was playing with subtle chord formations and her ingenious 'twiddly bits' - a joy to the ear. For me it was almost irrelevant what she was playing - more so how she was playing it.

Love Mrs Mills, god how underrated these players were, this where i started playing, trying to work out what these players were doing, i had a mate who used to play all of these and sounded like the records, god the work he put in, it was a style i learnt to play but never mastered it like he did.
@MarcusTomatos6 жыл бұрын
Nicely played, but the tempo needs a kick up the bottom. Way too slow for my taste, and I bet Charlie would have given it a bit more leather!
