About Ivory Layne:
Ivory Layne started songwriting at age six and by her teenage years had taught herself music production, working from her bedroom and posting demos online until she caught the attention of Grammy award-winning producer, Ed Cash (Dolly Parton, Amy Grant). The two wrote, produced, and released her first EP, Volume One.
The critical acclaim and industry buzz following Ivory’s debut EP led to her move to Music City to begin her professional songwriting career, joining a stellar cast of Nashville’s finest writers and producers in the studio (from Jimmy Robbins and Shane McAnally to Lori McKenna). From there, she also began traveling and collaborating with London based writers and producers Liam Howe, Eg White, Cam Blackwood, Ashe Howes and Ian Archer. Her sharpness in the writer's room in turn landed her global ad campaigns, including prestigious jewelry house Swarovski, international retailer Claire’s Accessories and cable giant, HBO. It also gave her opportunities to collaborate with artists such as Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness and Needtobreathe and write for other artists such as Tom Grennan (“Being Angry”) and Cory Asbury as well as rising stars Belot, Grayson Lane and Maya Lane. While the likes of Matt Nathanson, Andy Grammar, Ben Rector, and The Script enlisted her to support them on tour.
Last year, Ivory released her much anticipated EP, Confetti with production duo Nick Atkinson and Edd Holloway (Lewis Capaldi, James Bay). Her single Lonely Hearts secured a highly coveted spot on BBC Radio 2’s A playlist. Her following singles God Save the Queens, Celebrate, and It Was You were also playlisted for several weeks on BBC Radio 2. This year, Ivory is set to release the highest volume of tracks to date with four EP’s over the course of 6 months. Her latest single, “Algorhythm,” speaks of her journey as an artist in the age of social media. She has selected songs from her popular “Track Tuesday” series on Instagram, along with original, newly penned tracks to comprise the EPs. All are written and produced by Layne, from her home studio in Nashville.
Algorhythm Lyrics
Written by Ivory Layne
Baby wanna dance to the algorhythm
I’ll go first then you join with em
Baby wanna dance to the algorhythm
I’ll go first then you join with em
Baby wanna dance to the algorhythm
I’ll go first then you join with em
Baby wanna dance to the algorhythm
Algorhythm
Do you like me
I really hope that you like me
Because I need you to like me
If I wanna do what I wanna do
And there are rules
In these two by twos
I gotta formulate my everything to play for you
So throw a fake nice in the morning
Tease a cute spice in the evening
Give em some dumb to believe in
Numb a numb numb numb
Run from your feelings
Baby wanna dance to the algorhythm
I’ll go first then you join with em
Baby wanna dance to the algorhythm
I’ll go first then you join with em
Baby wanna dance to the algorhythm
I’ll go first then you join with em
Baby wanna dance to the algorhythm
Algorhythm
The ending is the beginning
We’re starting but not finishing
All of our children’s children
inheriting narcissism
Defending the minimum
Of a human connection when
We give and we give and we give
Addiction and influence
Loading
Where did the time go now
You can’t hold it
Starting to freak me out
So control it
I kinda love it hate it
It’s taking all my energy
So like it save it
Baby wanna dance to the algorhythm
I’ll go first then you join with em
Baby wanna dance to the algorhythm
I’ll go first then you join with em
Baby wanna dance to the algorhythm
I’ll go first then you join with em
Baby wanna dance to the algorhythm
Algorhythm
And I got a fear of missing out everyday
I got a fear, I got a fear
And I got a fear of missing out everyday
I got a fear, I got a fear
And I don’t wanna stop
If you wanna dance to the algorhythm
I’ll go first then you join with em
If you wanna dance to the algorhythm
I’ll go first then you join with em
If you wanna dance to the algorhythm
I’ll go first then you join with em
If you wanna dance to the algorhythm
I’ll go first then you die with us
Baby wanna dance to the algorhythm
I’ll go first then you die with us
Baby wanna dance to the algorhythm
Algorhythm, then you die with us
