Can you give me some tips on the IB application and how to get in?? Did you find sample tests?
@Sophia-hs7et6 жыл бұрын
The absolute biggest pro I have for IB, experience-wise, is the type of students and situations you surround yourself with. I didn't really realize how much nicer my day-to-day experience was until late last semester(before summer break), when my non-IB friends were complaining about how immature some kids in their class were, how nothing got done, how they couldn't learn anything with disruptive classmates. I mean, there were grade 11s, literal 17 year olds, pulling down each other's pants in an english class! On multiple occasions! I'm really fuckin glad I don't have that experience. Also, since I'm surrounded by a ton of people around me who are way better at communicating well and asking questions when it's useful, I learn even more than the teacher usually has to teach because new ideas are brought up by the students. It's not free of some high-school clichés and the feelings that I am literally the worst and suckiest person ever, but my already first-world problems are a little less problematic.

Already did one year of preIB and I did horrible due to procrastination. My grades were good and stuff but my sleep schedule and my life just broke. So how do I not procrastinate
@IvyLilia6 жыл бұрын
Hi! My best advice is to get enough sleep (even if it means putting off some of your work until later) because it will always help you feel more productive and attentive the next day than any finished assignment ever could. Other than that, I found that finding a planner or calendar method helped me stay the most productive. If you find yourself procrastinating, try to break up big assignments into smaller chunks. I'll be posting a video about how to NOT procrastinate soon, so subscribe and look out for it!
@kohlcooke87894 жыл бұрын
I would say you should try to will yourself to get stuff done in advance. Think about how good it feels to get good grades and use that mentality to work. I'm still a freshman, but I've gotten plenty of sleep and good grades by staying ahead and always finishing a day or two before the due date so that I have time to revise. Good luck my friend

I’m really only applying to IB so i can feel smart lol i dont really care much about college credit for myself (tho its Nice to have) Although i’m not really sure because IB doesn’t seem worth the effort. I like creative stuff. Im hella creative, and honestly Idk if Im going to college. I Remember my sister (who has graduated and is now going to college) took the IB program for 3 years, and one night i heard her crying on the phone talking to our mom about how she is so anxious and stressed out about school. Im really proud of her.
@Endellion_The_Hellion5 жыл бұрын
Noirblanque I don’t know what state your IB program is in, but in the city I’m in, I applied for IB because they’re the only program in my city with AP philosophy as an elective and I want to go to major in philosophy in college. They have electives that are very interesting and worth it, from what I’ve heard, that are often exclusive to IB in the area, so you should try it. If you apply for IB, feeling smart most likely won’t work as your success will be drowned out by other kids and you’ll just be normal, most likely. I had a brother who failed out of IB, and so I’m obviously not an expert, but I’m just saying. IB isn’t for feeling smart, I don’t think, but rather to be in smaller groups with hard working individuals. I’m a rising pre-IB (9) student, so I don’t know. If you’re also a rising 9 pre-IB kid, or even just another rising 9th grader, good luck this year!

How hard is it to get into IB?😕 I am going to apply this year and I recently just got a pretty bad mark on a math test (a 3 or B/72%) and I've been stressed that that will lower my chances. On my last and only other test this year, I did get a 92%. I'm also part of many clubs like robotics and I am in the student council in my school. I wanna know if I have a good chance or not cuz it's been rattling around in my head for days now.
@hmmnotsure5 жыл бұрын
@Mai A Nah, the thing is that with math in our school, they mark us with knowledge (if you know the answer), thinking (demonstrating knowledge of math) application (solving) and communication (easy for others to understand) and I basically got a 4/A on thinking (or knowledge, can't remember), a 3/B on knowledge (or thinking, can't remember), a 3/B on application and a 1/D on communication because my teacher said I wrote too much. So I'm thinking that communication mark is gonna drop my chances so I've been stressed. But last time I'm pretty sure I got a 4-/A- on communication but my teacher did say I would get like a 1/D or fail in highschool if I kept writing so much so I've been worried... 😓 By the way, I'm only in grade 8 so a 3 or B/72% is pretty bad, or at least in my opinion.

schools and universities will never appreciate the hard work you put in. I dont get why people say the best bet is getting a formal education and a piece of paper that says youre qualified, where i come from ib schools cost about 18000 dollars a year, ivy league colleges and expenses can cost you up to 100000 a year for foreigners. After adding up by the time you get a bachelors you wouldve been in debt 300000 (if your parents are nice) and wouldve "invested" around 600000 on a piece of paper. All that to end up having a 50% chance of actually using that worthful piece of paper. And when you do get a job, youll stay in debt 15 years. All this doesnt take into account higher educations. P.S. I understand for many uni is the best option and for some prices are significantly lower than what ive mentioned, im just pointing out the bullshit view that many people have on success. Many kids dont even need uni to pursue their interest but their parents force them into it.

Right now, I don't think she has all the information she needs to make her decision. Your thought process is very clear so I thought of asking you this question. Should the students go into IB even if they don't intend to go outside the country and study? Should only high achieving students go into IB or can sincere students also achieve success there? Hola, I'm Japanese but I'm writing my EE in Spanish B HL. Any advice? I'm going to be writing an essay based on a Spanish novel, but in Spanish, and it scares me A LOT.
@heyvalid4 жыл бұрын
Wow! Sounds like a fun challenge. I bet you’ll do great! What Spanish novel will your EE be based on?

@@heyvalid I am writing on novels based on Federico Garcia Lorca: Yerma, La Casa de Bernarda Alba, and Mariana Pineda, and based on themes such as society and roles! Is there any specific advice for me? 🥺
@soooslaaal82044 жыл бұрын
@@amisakaguchi6425 oof, La Casa de Bernarda Alba and Bodas de Sangre are two pretty great García Lorca works. But be sure not to go too deep or too general with your themes. You don't want to just say gender equality as your them nor, the exact role that Bernarda plays as a woman in a masculine household. You want to find a good middle ground between the two in order to have a good EE.

I don’t even want to go into an IB program but I’m moving to Hungary and I have to go to an English speaking school and it’s the only thing I could find I hate this i have good grades but I’m kind of lazy and it doesn’t seem to go together I’m sooo fucking stressed I already have to move to another country and leave everything behind and then I have to be dropped into this weird school I know nothing about that is apparently really really hard when I’m coming from a little high school in the suburbs

Im not a good student at all but there is no other option other than doing IB in my school, Everyone is doing pretty much everything HL and taking extra classes. I cant compete with these smart guys, They have no social life and study all the time, They even study during summer for the next grade.

Don't take ESS, that shit is just bad, like it's not about the course that's easy but it's the communication and making sure you tick the right boxes
