Well in their best teams(vape) childe is still better in both f2p and whale version. And despite not having good constellations childe is like a favorite character for whale speedrunners. He's 80-90% of the times included in speedrunning teams.

Both of them are so good especially for F2P, though im a welkin player. For international team, I would prefer Childe as double swirl and hydro application is lot easier. As for Ayato, literally you can build any teamcomps on him to tackle the abyss. I have no cryo main dps, but finally able to use frozen ayato team to fight the 2 abyss herald on 12-3-2 using rosaria diona and venti. It is so fun to run both Childe and Ayato in abyss, they shines at their own roles.

@@blankness8 Tartaglia isn't exactly genocidal lol! He disliked that plan since what's the point of harming civilians or to him, weaklings that wouldn't make him stronger. That was Tsaritsa, Signora, and Zhongli. Ever wonder why Zhongli was criticized (lore wise) when he was released? Because other than his lackluster dmg and gameplay that plan was still too much for an ideal Chinese Emperor. Of course, tough love but still too risky. I thought that was clear with the corrected translation. Anyways, more like Ayato has less of a chance if you look at the overall scheme/endgame to do such things or go down that path. Just don't pose a threat to the clan, family and Inazuma and Ayato will leave you alone. I guess you can say Childe is similar but if only Childe isn't part of the overall/endgame lore. Only time will tell if the form thought by Skirk would have an effect to Childe's mental state and his mental state is already something else. You just gotta thank his military time to at least snapped him back. His form, pretty much his fighting style is already abyss like (compare how he moves and the hydro slashes he does with the lector and his form as well) and if it turns out it's the way how the royal guards of Khaenri'ah fight then a potential clash between Dain, Childe and Skirk will be a sight to behold.

I think the main differences are that Ayato is able to buff himself (and others) + his constellations are purely dmg focused, while Childe has no buff implemented in his kit and the constellations are more focused on hydro application and CD reduction. They're still both great and got me the win in abyss.

@@Narennn69 nope not really. Childe raises your team's normal attacks talent by 1lvl which is mostly like 5% more dmg, while Ayato's ult gives, at lvl 8, 18% dmg buff so nearly 4 times the amount. In both cases many characters don't even benefit from it, but if we just compare those two than Ayato benefits from his buff while Childe doesn't, as his main dmg ability, his E, doesn't benefit from it, cause it doesn't work the same as Ayato's E.

I would rather have a flexible team that does well in any situation like International team rather than a flexible character that can fit in any team but doesn't do better than the teams original counterpart(kokomi/mona for freeze, childe in vape). But Ayato is definitely the best choice in electro-charged, now it depends on you if you consider electro charged meta or not.

Most of his "losses" here are in situations that aren't even favored towards his kit design. Any AoE based content Childe pulls way ahead to the point of absurdity. But most of these were against big single target enemies where Childe isnt as good. It's like using Beidou against a single enemy and using that as a comparison to fischl against a single target lol

As Ayato & Childe mains their difference are.. Ayato: more comfy to play, flexible, relatively strong in all kind of teams Childe: more risky but more rewarding, niche in low to mid investment but also getting more flexible in higher invesment, VERY STRONK in Vape team, and imho the most fun character ever (riptide goes brr) Edit: check out TenTen's channel about Childe Riptide, and his best party International team (one of the strongest and most versatile team rn). Ayato's best team is yet to be discovered, but I think he will have a good place in meta.

here's my personal summary as a childe and ayato main: for reference my childe is c6 r1 and triple crowned, while my ayato is c2 r1 and triple crowned too. ayato: super easy to use and very flexible in his team comps and roles. short skill CD and good energy generation for burst uptime. but, if you don't kill the enemies in a single skill, it hurts quite a bit. ayato's constellations are also direct dps increases. childe: very aggressive playstyle and insane hydro application so you almost always should play him in reaction teams. very high dps if done right but it requires set up and the CD is a pain in the ass. childe's constellations aren't dps increases but quality of life/smoother gameplay increases. in that way, i gain more dps but it's very expensive

The difference between these two is that, Childe needs a full team to maximize his damage. So he's glued to his team. Ayato on the other hand has his own decent damage that can be better with supports but you can slap him with any teams without worrying about his damage. That's why he's an all-rounder.

Truthfully the difference in dmg potential when they’re both played to their strong suits is minimal. What is to be considered is fun factor. In that regard for me, childe delivers that in spades with his snappy moveset and rewarding mechanics.

None of them are better than the other it just depends on the situation Ayato Pros:- Easy to play, good in freeze and taser teams,good uptime on skill, great constellations(whales) Ayato cons:- low individual DMG (compared to other top tier 5*dps),not the best in vape teams, long burst animation, high energy burst, has really good constellations (f2p), *can't plunge in skill* Childe Pros:one of the best aoe in game, fastest hydro application by far, has big nukes, has one of thes best teams (International), bad constellations(f2p), low energy requirements. Childe cons:- low individual DMG (compared to other top tier 5*dps), very team dependent(early-mid game), weak constellations (whales) ,very technical, need to learn cooldown management , is more of an enabler instead of dps because of his high hydro application supports can't enable him, *can't plunge in melee* So it just depends on the player and his or hers desired gameplay style (if i missed anything be sure to tell me and I add it to the list if I approve of it)

Also as for childe being team dependent, that's really not the case because Ayato legit only has one team where he outperforms other hydro options and that is tazer combined with the fact that while tazer is a strong team it's definitely not a top meta team. As for Childe, the characters he synergizes well with are characters everyone builds already, Bennett is the best character in the game, Xiangling is probably the best pyro dps in the game and everyone needs an anemo unit because viridescent is Overpowered.

@@RafaelBanks69 Fixed the low DMG one for the both of them but as for the team one he really is team dependent he can't really be played solo whereas characters like ayato can be played hypercarry and still get good results only upgrading ayato but childe if you only upgrade him he isn't good as good compared to other significantly this is mainly a problem for newer players but it is still something to consider but I've fixed the wording on it

Huh! Considering IWTL relationship with Childe especially his lore which was mistranslated, this was positive. I have both and I can't exactly say that it's like the Venti and Kazuha relationship but Ayato is a solid character! Very easy to play and build so it's not shocking people would prefer him and some might even bring the CD problem of Ajax. As for Ajax, he is a high risk-high reward character so pulling some work or brain juice into managing his CD and team rotation is rewarding. Ayato feels complete at C0 and Childe too if you don't always go CD statement. Only thing worth in Childe's cons are the skill + levels. I feel just the burst since his burst multiplier is really good! If you just want it easy then Ayato is great for you! If you want to challenge yourself, go for Childe.

I disagree with the stance on constellations. Having strong damage boosting constellations doesn’t take away from how F2P friendly or not F2P friendly a character is. IMO what decides how F2P friendly a character is going to be their weapons, teams, and power at C0 relative to other characters in the same category. None of the buffs of Ayato’s constellations are really needed in his base kit. They just increase his damage which is already satisfactory at C0 with 4 star weapons. I believe a better example of someone who isn’t quite as F2P friendly is Yae. Yae can struggle with er at C0, but her C1 essentially fixes that energy recharge problem which is an attribute that’s very much desired in her base kit. Raiden for instance has a very strong C2, but is also strong at C0. Do you mean to say that a character like that isn’t as F2P friendly as another character just because her constellations give her a big boost in damage even when she’s very capable without them? These constellations don’t make them any weaker at their base form which is why I don’t necessarily believe that stance makes sense. I think because Childe gets a smaller boost in damage across in constellations it’s giving you the perception that he’s stronger in his base form, and that his constellations are less “needed.” The reality is that Ayato and Childe in terms of power are comparable in their base forms, and none of their constellations are “needed.” Both are strong at C0, and are F2P friendly in the sense that none of them have constellations that are truly needed as additions to their base kit. It’s just that Ayato has a higher damage ceiling with his constellations.

There are 2 cool-downs that occur with Ayato and most characters. One is every 3 hits an element can be applied, and the other is every 2.5 seconds an elemental is applied. Because Ayato attacks so quickly these cool-downs overlap so his elemental application isn’t too shabby. So he might end up applying hydro on the 3rd and 5th hit, as 2.5 seconds elapses on his 5th attack.

@ca5 Technically yes, Sucrose provides more buffs to One character than Kazuha but that's c6 sucrose , since she gives EM sharing , elemental dmg bonus 20% , 48% TTDS buff and 40% VV shred. While c0 Kazuha is giving around 35% elemental dmg bonus and 40% VV shred only. But sucrose buffs has significant downtime while Kazuha's doesn't and Kazuha can provide equal buff to both Childe and Xiangling with relatively flexible rotations , that's why Kazuha is preferred over sucrose and also same reason why Sucrose is a god tier support.

Yeah, they definitely got better at making early constellations more appealing. Older characters often have the “issue” of their only good constellation being C6, but Mihoyoversity realized they could tempt a lot of low spenders into going for C1 or C2 if they were appealing enough. I’d say it worked well for them, financially. C2 Raiden, C2 Kazuha and even C2 Ayaka could be used as examples.

Not sure how IWTL is calculating them, but here are what I believe are more accurate DMG potential figures: Childe Optimized (R5 Polar @ full stacks): 1 ATK%, 16 CR, 21 CD Final Stats: ~2569 ATK, 100CR%/275.4CD%, DPS "Score": ~9644 IWTL Stats: ~2702 ATK, 78.5CR%/186.0CD%, DPS "Score": ~6647 (~68.9% potential) IWTL w/CR food Score: ~7652 (~79.3% potential) (ATK values count Polar Star's passive) Ayato Getting a "precise" calculation for this guy is WAY more complicated than with Childe, solely because his skill damage scales partly off of max HP. Means I pretty much need to crunch the numbers all the way to the actual outgoing damage. Anyways... Assumptions: 100% uptime on full Namisen stacks, 15 slashes, full stacks on R5 HGF, 50% C1 uptime, 100% C2 uptime, 100% burst uptime (not counting actual damage, just buff). For "optimized" build, will use 4pc Echoes at "expected" ~50.2% proc chance. C6 considered but does not trigger Echoes. NO team buffs considered. I wish you add Xinqiu as a comparison, especially on the F2P single target comparison I don't have Childe or Ayato so I can't compare them myself. If you know anyone who make a video about that I would be interested to see it edit: So I did my own test and try to compare C6 Xinqiu with IWTL F2P Ayato and Childe My Xingqiu national (Sucrose, Xiangling, Bennett) kills it in 5-8 seconds depending on my weapon, my XL should have the same investment as he did as she deals 54k vape while F2P IWTL deal 56k. I kill it in 5 seconds using Jade cutter by somehow reverse vaping both of his attacks dealing 130+150 and then each sword rain deal 13k per hit. Using sacrificial my damage drop significantly but I can do his E twice each dealing 35-40x2 so150k total and each rain sword hit deal 10k but I still kill vishap in 8 seconds Do note that my Jade cutter has 90/185 crit while sac sword has 66/145 crit, also Jade cutter test was done when Vishap has hydro resistance, while not having hydro resistance I deal 15k instead of 13k so that reverse vape damage is 10-15% lower than it should. The damage jump is huge but honestly, Sac sword is good enough in most cases Xingqiu solo with Zhongli no resonance took 32 sec with Jade cutter and 43 with Sac sword. No retry yet so the time is not optimized so prob could reduce 2-5 sec maybe. Conclusion XQ at C6 VS C0 Childe and Ayato: XQ single target is still great especially since he doesn't need to be on the field and has very high hydro application making him perfect for Rational, national, or Hu tao, etc while Childe is much better for burst and AOE situation while Ayato is a middle ground that can do everything but not a master of anything particular. I'm really curious about C0 Yelan, will she be any better than Xingqiu I wonder. Oh and a side note, Childe give +1 in NA, Ayato give 20% NA bonus and XQ give 43% damage reduction and slight poise buff which honestly is much better IMHO. Yelan will give up to 50% damage bonus but on average she will give 25% so that's that

@@reelan1036 I know, I'm fortunate enough to have C6 XQ but I'm just curious if he could compete in AOE and single target compared to ayato and Childe in F2P and whale level Right now I'm doing Primo Geovishap testing on XQ solo/team with different weapons to see how he competes in this particular setting since IWTL alrd did the Ayato and Childe test, I'm not a whale so I can't do R5 5 star weapon with top tier artifact comparison but I can do the F2P one at least

Comparing them without teams makes zero sense tbh. Childe’s damage is very reliant on his nuke which has to be properly set up. Moreover, he’s not even meant to be played as a hypercarry like in this showcase. He’s an enabler and a nuker. His cons suck as well

@@Sami-dy8lk If you compare characters without teams, the results will be better 1- If your characters is a Phys damage dealer like eula since they don't rely on reactions or 2- Your character doesn't have an elemental nuke that can largely benefit from a teammate which is Tartaglias case. There are characters that benneffit more from having a team like Tartaglia, Ganyu, HuTao since they have easy acess to multiplictive reactions. The fact that ayato attacks fast with low atk multipliers makes him fall into this 2nd less team dependent scenario Good cause less dependent Bad cause not much unlockable potential trough a team If you do abyss with 1 character, Ayato will surelly be better. But who's doing abyss with 1 character?

Love your vids! Detailed as always. If I may add and I just discovered it a week after getting the polar star way back, Tartaglia doesn't need to do the normal attack then charged attack thing with the bow to get 2 stacks of the weapons passive. I was doing that same method before until I discovered that Tartaglia's auto attacks and charged attacks while in melee mode still gives 3 stacks of the polar star (1 stack for the normal auto attack, 1 stack for the charged attack and another 1 stack for simply normal attacking in melee form since it counts as elemental skill damage)

I've had to rely on Mona and Xinqiu since the beginning of the game for hydro application. Never cared for Childe and was tempted to pull for Kokomi, but I'm glad I held out for Ayato. In any situation where Childe or Kokomi would be better for hydro application (national/vapes), I can still rely on Xinqiu, but I'm more than happy to replace Mona. I'm thrilled to see he's at least matching Childe in damage. Makes those 150+ wishes feel more worthwhile.

@@Hencid c0 is purely sub dps/support since you have to be off field to get the decreased time for the charge shot,if you meant c6 then yeah she definitely gonna be broken. At c0 a good universal support/sub dps but if they decided to buff her before release then i guess she can be dps.

I think Ayato is nice for single target fights, that's a good thing because what Childe lacks he makes up for it vice versa I honestly prefer Ayato for EC or Freeze support due to his long burst duration, Ayato Vape comps just feels meh to me. Childe is still the king of vape and hydro aoe applicator, plus the riptide slashes are pretty much a drug you just get addicted to it.

I'd say they are Both about as good as each other. Childe is a very flexible DPS and has slightly stronger full teams as a main dps. Ayato on the other hand, is ever more flexible as a support, sub dps, and main dps, but none of his teams quite reach the level of childe's.

that's it basically. Childe is slightly behind dps wise (I have both at similar investment at c0, their damage difference isn't that big imo) but Ayato falls behind team-wise. His kit is easy but hard to match with the current meta, Childe is trickier but fits perfectly in his own meta teams.

are you looking to set a speedrun record in Abyss? yes? then go for Childe. Are you looking to own a great hydro dps to have fun with AND clear Abyss? Then legit, just go for whoever you want to actually play and love to look at or interact with. The point is they’re both fun and competitive and worst case scenario u have 2 tall hydro dudes to play with!

While Ayato can't compete with Childe for F2P national it should be stressed that not everyone can spare their Bennett, Xiangling, or Kazuha. If you're having to build a 2nd team Tazer can be an attractive option and I think Ayato is strong in that team, particularly when you're talking single target boss scenarios. Not to mention that Ayato has much better potential for expansion if in a year or so you end up getting some constellations on him. So let's say hypothetically they were perfectly tied for Tazer at C0 in every other respect, I would still give the edge to Ayato for being able to upgrade better.
