But to be honest, usually not in such tight spaces. Also, kind of as a courtesy, in most places people try to leave at least something between 50 and 80 cm in front and back between cars, so all cars have plenty of space to leave their space as well. Well, in some places it doesn´t work. That parking in Brighton, that must have followed a desperate search for a parking spot. Most people would rarely try to get into such a tight spot. Would have been fine for an even smaller car like a Smart though. For parking in France it was jokingly said in the past, never apply your parking brakes, otherwise it causes more damage when the other cars push vehcles around when parking.

This habit of just pushing other cars seems to be, or at least have been, pretty common in Paris. Here in Germany the first slight touch, even without damage would already be a traffic violation. And if you did that and the car owner sees you, that is very likely going to end up as a fight.
@strunz5787Ай бұрын
Based on the first example of parking a 'Seat' in reverse: position yourself at a half-meter distance from the vehicle in front; reverse until your rear axle is aligned with the rear of the adjacent vehicle- you can tell this because the rear axle is at the level of the backrest of the rear seat; now turn the steering wheel fully towards the direction you want to park; drive the rear of your vehicle into the parking space until your rearview mirror, extended, aligns with the rear of the vehicle in front; now turn the steering wheel fully in the opposite direction to complete the reverse parking maneuver. Best regards.

So pretty much all town houses had these cute little garages so we see an old beater of a car driving up to one. Isn’t, these would be illegal parking in Australia, because you need at least two feet in front and two feet in back after you’ve parked, otherwise you’ll have a ticket when you return.

Portuguese here I was just starting my driving lesson today when both me and my instructor saw an accident happen: there's a small roundabout right by my driving school with 5 exits. Somehow, a black car that was going on the left lane crashed on to an eletric scooter and my teacher believes the scooter was circulating on the right lane...needless to say that our driving lessons are great to experience the jungle, even if we are not intervening😂

Gas here in Prague is about $7/gallon equivalent and the registration tax on a huge truck for personal use would be around $10k per year. It would also not be allowed to park on most streets in the center as it would be too wide and wouldn’t fit in parking garages.

Video no. 1 reminded me of driving school. We peacticed this so often, that parking in tight spaces was the one thing that i was most confident in after i got my licence and was allowed to drive on my own. Mind you, that was before parking sensors. We just had the mirrors and technique. Of course we were not taught to bump into anything. 😂

I was taught how to parallel park in the Netherlands, first one should have started closer to car in front 😂. As for the one in Brighton, she definitely was determined to get it in there. Good luck getting out though if neither car moves. I have seen French park in 1989, and they basically used other cars to tell them when to stop... hitting car in front and one in back a heck of a lot harder than just a tap. That German one trying into the garage ouch! My mom asked me to park her Capture in the garage and close to the side... I had told her I was pretty darn close, but she said I could move a little closer... usually she can pull out of the garage in one go, that time it took her 6 times😂

And the first video shows several station wagons - we love them in Europe! Even though I never had a car and did everything with bike + public transport (first in my small 20k hometown, after that in Berlin and now again in a small town) they're the all-purpose car :)

We were once in Belgium, my mother set her car tight to the car in front of her but that car had good space in front of it. Later we came back, and another car was even tigher in the rear, while that place had enough space to not do that. So my mother very carefully pushed the other car back, since we could literally not move otherwise In the Netherlands it can also be tight, but there is space for movement in general. But sometimes you see people with bigger imported American cars, those are cool, but do not fit in lots of spaces. But there are still plenty of spaces with just enough room where most bigger cars can just fit

Once in Italy I have seen a driver approaching his tiny Fiat 126, which had about 1 cm of maneuvering space at the front and at the rear. He asked three young men who were walking down the street, and using the power of four men they lifted the car sideways out of the the spot. The driver thanked them and drove off, the three helpers walked their way in the other direction. (edit for typos)

The one in the parking garage, it doesn't matter that it's on older person. Being older you should have more experience... that was just a shitty driver, age had nothing to do with it. The person in the Ferrari was also a crap parker because that was a big parking spot. That was big enough to get out of there in 2 moves. I have a Renault Modus and I choose to go for a smaller car instead of the longer station wagons that are more common in my street because with my smaller car I can squeeze into the parking spots that are too small for those station wagons.

Rule in Paris for parking when on a level street. Do not put in a gear and the handbrake, when parking because other cars will push your car to fit in the spot. It's possible your car will be a few car lengths away from the spot you originally parked. That is the reason why French cars in Paris have special bumpers to cover the lights, so the don't get broken.

Idk if you do this in the US, but in certain residential parking places, people leave their cars in neutral, without a handbrake, so that others can push it if they need. It makes life easier, people block each other, but the other guy can push it in the morning when going to work.

I'm way younger than my siblings, but we all grew up in a very old European town, so I spend a good part of my childhood driving round and round and round while the womenfolks were looking for a "drive in" parking spot. When 6-8 years old I SWORE that when I grew up and got a licence, I'd learn to park "like a man" (Sorry Girls, I'm a true old fashioned feminist - we call a spade a spade) I was in my mid 30'es when I felt the need for a driver licence - but I kept my promise to my self. And good for me - as we now lived in the center of the town where I'd spent half of my childhood looking for a parking spaces 🙄 My licence was one week old, when I - with older sister as passenger - "swung" the car in to a "You'll NEVER get the car in there" space in 3 "wrings" Sister was FURIOUS: You little 🤬🤬 I've been driving for 28 year... haven't performed a parallel parking since the test - and YOU😡little🤬🤬 just like that... How did you do it? TEACH ME! Now she throws her car into parking spaces so gracefully, grown men can become impotent for days after seing it 😱😱 And no, I didn't "teach" her! She had passed her test - I just told her some feministic yada-yada psycology, and it worked 🤣🤣🤣 Peace, love and easy parking to y'all

seems like most these do not deserve right to drive. uk if you parked up like this you could get towed id be pis*ed i take good care my car. and if the park by bumpers and walk away that hit and run so police issue and expect insurance to rise a lot and even get sued by drivers because any claim even not at fault yours still go up so driver doing damage could also be taken to court after dealing with insurance. when i park i do my best to park away from most like right at back places people tend avoid because extra walk or no option try end of a row so very least if get damage just one side. but my dashcams rec 24/7 as turned off parking mode so they miss nothing

The Chevy's we get here in Europe are rebranded Daewoo's which is probably why you don't recognise them. And also yes, when you're parking in Italy, Spain and France using the bumpers is a sign of affection.

Years ago, a friend had a small but powerful British sports car. He parked near a corner, close to a car behind him. When he returned to his car, he found a van driver had parked right up against his front bumper. He didn't bother manoeuvering - he just pushed the van in front forwards out of his way with his car with the van now partly blocking the road to the right. I would have loved to see the van driver's face when he got back!

7:30 actually this Ferrari has more than enough of room to get out of this spot. The problem about this car may be a lack of oversight - you will have a hard time seeing how much space exactly you have, especially behind. This can be a bit of a challenge if you don't have parking sensors. But this is much more of a problem when trying to get INTO a parking space, than when getting out of it. Getting out is easy even with just 20 cm of room in front of you and behind you. Reverse a bit, then advance a bit, then reverse a bit, turning the steering wheel full circle every time, and you well get out of it eventually without hitting anything. Works with every car. Just make sure not to release the clutch too quickly or the Ferrari will make an expensive jump start (or the brake, if the car doesn't have a manual transmission)

Yes, in Paris you need to park with no gear engaged - it's common sense to bump cautiously into the car before/after your spot to make enough room for your car. So it might happen, returning to your parked car after some hours or even days, your car is quite a few meters far away from where you left it :-)

For anyone hwo has trouble with this, here's how I was taught how to do it and it never fails: 1 stop next to the car infront of the space 2 turn the wheel fully, so that your rear turns towards the spot 3 turn like that until you see both headlights of the car behind you, in your left mirror 4 straighten the wheels and reverse backwards until you're at a good distance from the curb (this is the only step that requires skill) 5 turn the wheel fully, so you swing the nose of the car into the spot 6 profit

I'm so annoyed my current car has a non-removable towbar; it makes tight parking so much more awkward - UK numberplates are made of plastic and crack if you back into them. Bump-parking, which I've experienced many times in Spain and France is just not possible if you've got a piece of metal sticking out of the back of your car. And also, it's a shin-killer.

When parking I always use windows at the shops. Because 9 out of 10 times they reflect. Also the shadow lines in the sun give you an indication of how much space there is between the car behind your car. Once I had parked my extra long van and just came back from the parking meter where I had paid. A pedestrian said to me; you will never get that out! I said to him, I just parked that one there.
