IXION Lets Play - Chapter 4 Start - I broke the game economy? - PSR B1257 - EP25

IXION Chapter 4 Part 1. Time to get ready for the Piranesi. Arriving in PSR B1257 I immediately start scouting the system, and do several of the POIs. I continue to focus heavily on tech upgrades and new researches. Also, given the sheer volume of resources I have collected, I really don't see much need for collecting more in this chapter, but will mine some just for safety's sake if I see something running a bit low. I kind of feel I have broken the game economy, as at this point the amount of resources I produce is just ridiculous.
IXION is finally here, and I am more than a little bit in love with this game. Describing the game genre is a bit difficult, since it combines so much from so many games - but one quick summary would be that this is a Sci-Fi Space game similar to Frostpunk, but with a lot of aspects leaning on logistics, grid city builder games, factory and production games, and so much more. The storyline is simply awe-inspiring, and the soundtrack is one of the best soundtracks I have heard in a game.
I hope you will enjoy the series as we explore the story of the Tiqqun, as I try to guide it through space with presumably the last remnants of humanity, in the hopes of finding a colonisable exo-planet that we can colonise.

About the Game

IXION combines city building, survival elements and exploration, into a thrilling space opera as you explore the stars. Propelled onwards through a perilous journey, you are the Administrator of the Tiqqun space station, charged with finding a new home for humanity.

I've done a close flyby of the pulsar your not missing much lol. In a game rich with great graphics its probably the only time i thought they could have done better.

Thank you! I do use it occasionally, but for the LP series I've mostly avoided it so people see each and every tech I do research. But from EP26 and onwards I believe I'm using it as I'm just researching the rest of the stuff in the tech tree by then. 😊

Not using water treatment plant still. So much ice around that I don't need it. But if I start backing up on waste, I might have to build one just to deal with the waste. I don't think it will be needed though 😊

You do not have the Exoskeletons yet, unless with the commentary at around 44:20 you meant that even with the Exoskeletons the expeditions do not go well

He does have the exoskeletons. He researched them back in Chapter 2 for a mission that only had a good result available if Exoskeletons were unlocked. The game has just had an update in between episodes and they've changed the interface so options that are available thanks to technologies stand apart more than they used from the options that are available by default.

I did indeed mean that even with the technology, the expeditions are doomed if you want the science from the POIs. I researched it back in Ch2, as Marten mentioned. 😊

@@Caledorn i sent many probes through this storm. Never lost any. Pretty much probed the whole system before moving from arrival location. I also had a miner go sailing through the storm when it chased after a resource I missed when I was marking the avoids. It got about halfway through before I noticed it and marked it avoid. it retreated back but was not destroyed. I suspect this storm is not as bad as the others, but don't plan to test it. :D

Doing a great job! You're series on this is the one I am consistently most looking forward to viewing. Given the state of your economy, isn't resource hoarding a bit of a concern? Since there is no way to get rid of undesired resources, it may devolve into having to really micro manage sectors to clear docking ports and facilitate layout changes.

Thank you so much for the nice feedback! 😀I am carefully managing any cargo vessels on my ship, only sending them out for one resource at a time, stopping them before a docking bay is full, just because of that reason. I'm done with my layouts - there's nothing I need to build, except maybe for visual/showing the buildings I haven't built off. So that's also not a concern I have. Alloys can always be "sunk", given a bit of time, into the EVA Airlocks too. 😊

31:25 I don't think moving to the pulsar would be very good for the health of everyone on board the Tiqqun, in fairness. You do have to wonder how you're supposed to find the PoIs that are on the other side of the space storm. Probes and shisp can't survive it, and there's no landing point for the Tiqqun.
