The thing is that, the participants of the produce series join the program already being trainees of different agencies, so these kind of programs and the groups that result from them are kind of a way to promote every agency's future groups. For example, Wonyoung and Yujin joined Produce 48 as trainees under Starship entertainment, they got to be known by the public and that helped Starship to have people anticipating IVE before their debut, Yena participated under Yuehua entertainment but her fellow company trainees didn't make it to the final ranking but later debuted as Everglow as the program still helped to build anticipation towards them (if Yena didn't make it to Iz*one she would be part of Everglow right now) so yeah every agency also decides if it's better to debut them again on a new group or as soloists

The reason survival show groups have limited shelf lives is that in order to get companies to agree to send talented trainees, they have to know they will get the trainee back in a year or two. What the companies get as a fee for their trainee making such a project group doesn't come close to what that same company would get if that trainee debuted successfully at a group under under the company. While some companies fail debuting a former member of a survival show group, most companies have to believe that they can do well on their own, or they are in the wrong line of business to start with.

For what you said at 23:47, izone was indeed a very successful produce group but they were also very controversial due to rigged lineup so they couldn’t make their contract permanent or longer. By the way, to make their contract longer, all the girls companies need to agree and as you can see for example yujin and Wonyoung were from starship and they had other plans for them (IVE). Agencies benefits a lot from this survival show popularity so they want their idols back unfortunately…

one thing about izone is that they were declared by the computer analysis as the #1 most synchronized girl group. synchronization was owned by them thats why no one dared to come when it comes to their dances, vocals as well. popularity? not a problem, they were the KING OF 4TH GEN (sales, charts, and digitals were also owned by them in their time). THEY WERE ALSO ALWAYS MISTAKEN AS 3RD GEN GROUP BECAUSE THEY WERE ALWAYS BESIDE OR AGAINST THE BIG GROUPS LIKE BTS/BP/TWICE/RV even a second gen group like SNSD. not surprised post izone groups like ive and le sserafim were so anticipated and popular when they debuted because some members already settled down their own fanbases. Aaah, I love their dance practices. You should react to DDDANCE too! La Vien Rose has another dance practice which is a special choreo for the awards shows, I recommend to watch too. And, Secret Story funny fact, it's that choreo was taught with a choreographer only for 2 weeks because of the schedule and corona; so the rest of 4 month until the showcase the members themselves, with Chaeyeon and Eunbi (the leader) leading, learned all of the rest of choreo and the details.

I'm super late but the fact that they only promoted for 2 1/2 years is that they all come from different companies/labels. Yes these girls all wanna debut but most of them (definitely not all) come from smaller labels and these particular companies hope for some exposure by having one of their trainees in the debut group of, e.g. here IZ*ONE or even the survival show itself. The companies already have other plans and made new groups behind the scenes and wait til the contract runs out so the girls can redebut under their initial label(like Ive or Le sserafim, although those companies are already big on their own). It was rumored that IZ*ONE might renew their contract because of the huge success they had but in the end the labels didn't come to an agreement and they disbanded.

the survival show groups are temporary because companies send their trainees there in hopes of getting famous enough so that once they disband, they can debut a group from their own company's trainees with already famous members and a predebut fanbase. there are even active idols going on survival shows, so they can bring more fame for the group they are currently in (and they will usually take a hiatus with their current group if they end up debuting in the temporary grp). just look at the izone girls and how successful they are post-izone, all us wizones were always gonna support them wherever they go :)
