Back Pack its not as easy as people see it. Sure you know all the popular combos like up tilts into up airs, but those arent combos are not as effective as others could be. Playing mario is like living in the moment; its about reacting to your opponents options. I was a normie mario at first, but as i kept playing him i realized that there were so many things that i wasnt doing, it makes me cringe today lol. My friends always tell me my movement and neutral is crazy, and it is. Just saying its frustrating when people say "oh mario is so easy just grab 70% combo then spam usmash haha" its not like that

I am a competitive Melee player who has never seen one of your videos before. I clicked on this video because when I do play smash 4, I play mario (I have mained him since since day 1 because I used to main mario in melee). Your editing, delivery, music, and information in this video is extremely high quality and you've inspired a greater interest for me in smash 4 with this. The DI info for opponents is really good, as it gives this whole series a double purpose. Thoroughly satisfying tutorial with nearly all the intermediate level tools for a Mario player. I'm sold! Subscribed!

DI: Influences the direction of the knockback your character receives after the hit Smash DI: Influences the position of your character in multihit moves So for Mario's utilt string, which is not a multihit move, isn't regular DI the only thing that is necessary? Here are some effective strategies for playing as Mario in the game: - Use Fireballs to space out your opponents and for edge guarding. - Always keep FLUDD charged. It is a great tool for pushing opponents offstage when you're edge guarding. - Use Cape to gimp opponents offstage and to help you recover. - Super Jump Punch is an excellent out of shield option. You can use it to punish opponents who are standing close to you. - Back Air is a versatile move that you can use to space out your opponents both onstage and offstage. It is also an effective edge guarding option and a great wall of pain technique. - Down Air is your main frontal approaching tool. It is very useful for pressuring shields and for killing. - Neutral Air is a very useful out of shield option. You can use it effectively for edge guarding opponents and as your main combo breaker. - Down Throw is Mario's primary combo throw. You can follow it up with moves like Up Tilt, Up Air, Up Smash, Up B, Forward Air, Back Air, Down Air, Down Tilt, Forward Smash, and Down Smash. - Up Throw is a great throw against heavyweights and fast fallers. You can follow it up with moves like Up Throw-Down Air-Forward Air, Back Air, Up Air, Neutral Air, and Super Jump Punch. - Back Throw is Mario's main kill throw. You can use it when your opponents are at high percentages. Mario Custom Moves: These are the most effective custom moves for Mario: - Fast Fireball - Shocking Cape - Gust Cape - Explosive Punch - Scalding FLUDD - High-Pressure FLUDD

After a down throw at low percents you should go for one or two down tilts since it's a lot harder for your opponent to SDI to the ground and shield. And once you think they'll pop out start to up tilt

Loved the video as always. A few criticisms I have were you not mentioning that his Fsmash can be angled up for better knockback at the cost of potentially missing the sweetspot and the general showing of the training mode combo counter which has been proven to be questionable. Simply stating how the Combos/strings were tested in the video should be enough. Anyhow as I said I loved it and just hope for improvement.

Izaw you forgot this: Fair: first active hitbox is frame 16, does 12% and launches the opponent away. Frame 17-20 will do 14% and spike, and frame 21 will do 12% and launches away. Super Jump Punch: Has a weird property; only land hit 2, 3, or 4 alone, the knockback is greater than getting the finishing 6th hit. (That's how Ally killed 6WX's Sonic at 0%)
