So apparently barometz is based off a real European legend. Before they figured out that cotton was a plant, they thought cotton plants grew wool/sheep. Which is pretty funny.

Barometz is depiction by European of cotton plants since they never seen any plant that able to produce wool so they think it as sheep that bloom from a plants

Izutsumi is such an adorable cat. I love her so much because of her absolute cuteness, and also because she's really funny.

I like how Izutsumi even eats like a cat! She's the most cat-like anthropomorphic character in anime.

Nope Spoilers She had that because she was a slave bought by Shuro's dad and, understandbly, has been trying to run away and get her freedom ever since she got there as child.

i know a lot of people find izutsumi frustrating but imo she's really well done and makes a LOT of sense from her pov. she followed the party so marcille could undo the transformation that was done to her as a child. OF COURSE she would be wary of eating monsters and being altered like that again. the spell around her neck was done by maizuru so she wouldnt run away and toshiro disapproves of tade's gratitude toward his father bc the retainers are indentured servants and his father basically owns them. thats why he left izutsumi in the dungeon, so she would get to take her own chances in the dungeon as she wanted. OF COURSE izutsumi would chafe at being told to mind her manners. of course she hates being told that she has an obligation to a group SHE had to carry through a fight, of course she hates being told she should feel grateful to others- that when she DOES have reason to feel gratitude she would struggle to show or process it when she was expected to show gratitude for being owned. she was trafficked and mutilated and then told she should be grateful for being picked up as a branded indentured servant.

this second half felt like a lot was cut from the manga. like, how did no one notice that open, bright field just next to them? how did they get down? where was marcilles staff? where was izumi going? was she going back to where they came from? why did she go a seemingly different route then? werent they just right there?
