I'm a doctor in two years (nearly done with med school) and currently being investigated for MS. Waiting for MRI scan in two weeks time. Terrified. Glad you're doing well!

And taking lots of vit D (I'd recommend as high as you possibly can) is good. 5000IU+ if not even more. Also I've read almost every damn article the last couple of weeks that I can find on pubmed, cohort studies, cross sectional studies, case control studies and there seems to be a strong correlation between EBV infection and MS. Read this during my neuro rotation a year ago as well, and a neurologist also explained this link as some sort of cellular mimickery (the virus giving rise to antibodies that share structural similarities with the myelin in our neurons). Many theories. Even found a case control study of a medical student diagnosed with MS that herself started using high doses of antivirals (NRTI) to ''eliminate'' whatever herpes virus she was suffering from (probably EBV) and she saw some positive effects. With this said I don't think any of this is a smart option to do yourself but I strongly believe the MS research field is just a few years, tops a decade or two from developing either a cure or extremely effective therapies against MS. I think MS will be a disease of the past WITHIN50 years from now. EBV, Vitamin D, leaky-gut-syndrome...we're in the frontline of medicine and frankly it's an epic era to have MS in. Anyway sorry for my monologue, hope you're doing well!!!

And oh, 4 years ago I had extremely low vitamin D after taking a lab test (17!!, supposed to be over 50 at least. 25 or less is considered VERY deficient). I also had a SEVERE case of mononucleosis (from EBV virus) 3 years ago, was sick for 3 months. Lost 20 lbs. Still have swollen lymph nodes on my neck from back then. So I really do have all the risk factors for MS. Now just hoping my MRI comes out clean...

Always trust your body. That's the biggest thing I've learnt. If gluten free isn't for you then don't beat yourself up or care what others think. Everyone is different. Thank you for sharing :-)

I went to school to be a bread Baker. It's hard to not eat bread but I just look at it like a vassel. Like if I want avocado toast...it's not about the toast it's the avocado I started using rice cakes. But if I want to have a veggie burger when we go out to eat...I'm not about to get it on lettuce! Imma eat that bread! Not like it's an everyday thing. Also I'm so happy for your symptom free life now! I was diagnosed in like may and I'm on techfidera, I just have to deal with the fatigue !!!

Why are you off meat? The Wahl's Protocol puts an emphasis on the importance of organ meats, in particular.

How do you have aggressive MS when you can run so long?? I can only walk slowly for 10 minutes but then my legs give up. I've had MS for 4 years.

Lemtrada and a lot of hard work
@Megamehnaz
@Megamehnaz 6 жыл бұрын
Izzy MS I've had the first round of lemtrada and it didn't go well at all, I wouldn't say hard work is the only factor to stay as well as you. I think you are extremely lucky, not everyone is as lucky as you.
@IzzyMS
@IzzyMS 6 жыл бұрын
@@Megamehnaz I am sorry to hear that lemtrada didn't work for you - everyone is different and it is not guaranteed to work. I never said that hard work is the only reason... I said lemtrada AND hard work. I have been trying to run since October 2016 and it is only within the past couple of months that I have been able to run for an extended period of time. Trying to run for over 2 years and not getting anywhere has been hard work. I have also received 2 rounds of lemtrada in this time - which in itself has also been hard work. I think by bringing the concept of 'luck' into a discussion of MS or any other disease is extremely unproductive and negative. In this opinion - I have been 'extremely lucky' and I guess you have been extremely unlucky. What use is this comparison other than to bring negativity upon a positive video where I show people that despite an aggressive MS diagnosis I am able to run a 10k. What use is it to compare me and you? We have BOTH been dealt this MS hand in life, and comparing any two persons with MS is a pointless exercise as it is such an individual condition - no two people will have the same experience with this disease. There is so much negativity online concerning MS and I am trying to bring some positivity to the condition, especially for those newly diagnosed, and by classing my ability to stay well as 'luck' creates the impression that 'staying well' is an abstract concept dependant upon how 'lucky' you are - when 'luck' is intangible and there have been SO many other factors to my recovery from my relapse. For example, I got diagnosed at 22. I was having relapses at 21 but didn't have any physical signs. Having an incurable, progressive disease at 21 is extremely UNLUCKY, however being so young my body has been able to recover very well - which you could say is really LUCKY. Unlucky, lucky... I'm still in the same position - I still have MS and I'm just trying to make the most out of it and help people along the way. I really hope your R2 of lemtrada goes well for you - don't blame luck if it doesn't and don't ever give up. X

Izzy MS apologies for using the term 'luck' when everyones story is different and we are all on a different path. I could do exactly what you did to get to where you are but still not end up with the same result. Luck just seems like the only way to describe this. I was 19 when I was diagnosed, but that doesn't mean anything. I love watching your videos, regardless of how long they are, but I'm sorry it does bug me when you keep referring to your MS as aggressive but at the same time you can still do everything perfectly. I was diagnosed with severe MS but I don't mention 'severe' when talking about my MS because that was the past. I think if someone else your age, who currently has aggressive MS, saw your videos and heard you constantly saying that you have aggressive MS and saw how well you are, they would feel extremely bad about themselves and it would affect their mental health. Thank you I hope it goes well. X

I am so happy for you! Also your running is very inspirational to me. I use to run before my diagnosis but stopped of course. Now I try to go out everyday and walk a mile or two. My goal is to add some running back into it. The pizza looked really yummy. Also, I wouldn’t worry about going gluten free. If gluten does not bother you any. It is not the evil thing a lot of people think it is. I love this video! Please continue to make more.🧡🎄
