I've read and listened to many books and speakers on goal setting, and implemented with varying success. Your point about negative visualisation was like a bolt from the sky. Ah ha! Yes. How valuable! I recently read a book called 'You Could Die Tomorrow' (morbid, yes I know, but actually good) and one of the key messages was avoiding regret - going on the journey and achieving those things you'd soooo love to do. Also where you mention goal inputs, sometimes with no solid, quantifiable outcome. Thank you!

I have been learning Japanese, initially with books and audio files that are useful for the basics but language is about interaction, so I found a language exchange partner and we meet weekly for 2 hours on Skype. In addition we set each other writing assignments which are corrected live. My proficiency has accelerated dramatically with the live situation, and because it is at a regular time each week there is a huge incentive to study and prepare beforehand. Self study can be quite patchy at times with a busy life.

First, I was hooked by your beautifulness... When I saw the first video from you, instead to focus on the goal, focus on the first small step, just learning 5 Minutes of Mandarin... Don't become overwhelmed and this is from(Japanese) Kai Zen... we want too fast too much. I learned the entire Pimsleur Spanish language course to go to South America, could not go, because of the Covid- crisis, was over frustrated... Then I asked myself, Why I didn't learn Thai perfectly or really well, because I live in Thailand,... Sorry, what to do, Spanish is easy and Thai is not so easy for Western people... Wrong goal setting, - My Thai is not good ... But to speak 4 languages is for me too much, Still I beat myself up that I could not learn french, my entire family spoke french (I have french relatives and many french friends) perfectly,... French would be more important than Spanish for me...
