This conversation is a one between emotion and logic. As much as I HATE Mal’s takes, he’s spot on this. He’s not inserting any hypotheticals, he’s telling EXACTLY what happened. The rest of the crew just has confirmation bias. Euphoria didn’t drop for a couple weeks before Cole got on that stage and did what he did. He didn’t know where this was headed, the record just didn’t land like he thought it would and knew Dot’s pen was about to show out.. And people keep forgetting “7 minute Drill” came before all of Kendrick’s records.. Instead of showcasing his rap ability and how he had the better bars, he decided to diss Kendrick’s catalog. Not once did he try to prove he was the better “rapper” he just instantly started dissing. I move with so much discernment and Cole can’t fool me dawg. That man is not who y’all want him to be so bad and he knows Kendrick would’ve exposed that to the world. He did the same thing with NoName when she called him out as well. Once people remove their emotion, they’ll clearly see Cole is not built to be the greatest and that’s okay. Take ya L and move along.

And again.. the ball was in Cole’s court with “7 Minute Drill” Instead of barring Kendrick to death, he decided to start IMMEDIATELY dissing him. That’s on Cole. It didn’t land like he thought it would and he backed out before Kendrick dropped his records and is trying to make it look like, us as a people, was the reason for him dissing Kendrick instead of just rapping. Is that not pushing narratives? Oh so it’s just the extent to which u push narratives that u don’t like, again it’s hypocritical and sounds like he’s just coping with the idea that he backed out. J Cole for years has been saying he’s the best, from ‘album of the year freestyle’, to ‘first person shooter’ where he says he feels like Muhammad Ali, but he didn’t say expect that to get a response? And when it gets a response, u say u couldn’t sleep at night and it wasn’t good for ur soul… Ok then please don’t act like ur about that life then and that your the best in Hip Hop because for generations the best has been decided in the battle, is it toxic? Yes, is it damaging to careers and bad for the peoples mental health? Yes, but that’s what YOU KNEW WOULD BE A FACTOR WHEN YOU SAID U WHERE THE BEST. Overall I don’t have a problem with the song except for the posturing that he could do anything in a battle or that he could be the best or considered the best in the future, he’s exempt from that title and from what J Cole said in this song he doesn’t care what me or anyone else’s opinion on who the best is and he’s free lol, which contradicts his whole bravado before the beef took off.

Mal is right on this take. Cole has been making a case the last 3 years with all his features as to why he deserves a title shot. On first person he acknowledged the big 3 but said he was number 1. Kenny sent an open invite to Cole and Drake. Cole had everything to gain being as the vast majority of us viewed him as number 3 in the big 3. Drake had everything to lose because at that time he was perceived as 1 and Kendrick was just being a menace. By sending the first diss reply record and then recanting it Cole has forfeited his ability to ever compete for a title. He can still do him and make music which is dope but it’s going to be hard to digest those im the greatest ever bars! As for Drake he lived to fight another day! He took it to round 12 and got knocked out. As for Kenny…. Well he is the fucking boogie man. Not only the best but the best of the best.
