4:44 Shawn hit the nail on the head, fr. I'm still surprised and dissapointed that Cole would say an album like Mr. Morale was tragic because it didn't do crazy numbers. Kenny barely promoted it and the album has no "hits". That was NEVER the point of the album. DAMN. got hits upon hits cuz hat was Kenny's goal at the time, I swear almost half of DAMN. is singles (DNA., ELEMENT., LOYALTY., HUMBLE., LOVE.). That's 5 outta 14 tracks. Mr. Morale is Kenny's most personal album, his biggest artistic risk. It's a beautiful album and another worthy addition to Kendrick's INSANE discography. Honestly, the whole Cole diss was an L. He went against his own word and logic, multiple times.

It’s weird af how y’all can see that with Mr. Morale but NOT ONE SOUL sees that with 4YEO. Thats so strange and odd to me how y’all sit here and understand the depth and complexities of Kendrick’s albums, yet refuse to see that with Cole, who in fact has those same complexities and talents with his own songs and albums. It’s so weird. And I’m a Kendrick stan at that. But yet I see it with both.

If anything you should be wondering why Cole would go at an album like Mr. Morale and calling it "tragic" because it didn't sell crazy numbers or saying stupid sh*t like TPAB put people to sleep, which as a Cole fan, immediately makes his diss a complete L. Cole going against his own logic completely makes his diss nonsensical and a complete L, imo.

I think Cole did solid. Truly believe people are just more Kendrick fans and that dilutes the opinion on it. Cole had some dope bars in it, wasn’t a full on diss, more like a warning if anything (which I’m assuming the “7 minute drill” refers to). Kendrick also gets the benefit of the amazing production from Metro, Future’s incredible Melodie’s as well. One was a song, the other was a response at the end of the day. Kendricks verse is on what was already going to be a hit record and made it legendary. But I appreciate the classic hip hop diss energy from this Cole track.

Like Kendrick’s mmbs tour broke records. You can’t talk about someone falling off, when they are outselling you, that makes no sense. The fan made response was better than Cole’s response which is fucking crazy. Cole is a great rapper and normally really smart, How about you talk about Kodak Black eating up Kendrick on his own song, or how hypocritical it is that he talks so much about lifting the culture and then shit on someone who does the same thing. Spit facts not nonsense.

@@choccycow6823 I don’t quite understand this take. Cole is obviously going to critique his albums even if it’s a dumb critique because kendrick dissed his/their albums. Like kendrick even said “Prince outlive Mike Jack”, but you don’t really people say “wow kendrick just admitted Drake is like Michael Jackson” or “wow he thinks prince is better than Michael Jackson.” It’s definitely an unpopular opinion to say Prince>MJ, which he is alluding to. But it’s weird to say I’m the clear biggest out, and compare himself to prince instead of MJ. But we obviously aren’t having think pieces on that aspect bc it’s just his preference/opinion. It’s just weird to me that that’s what everyone’s critiquing about coles light diss. And I don’t think Coles aim was a full on diss, it was just a warning shot
@choccycow682310 ай бұрын
@@Akela_akilla I know it’s just a warning shot which is why I am disappointed that Cole managed to fuck it up by saying something stupid. I agree with what you said about the prince MJ thing too. But thats the point, you came up with criticism that made sense. You attack Kendrick, but you can’t attack someone’s album when it’s considered one of the best albums of all time, if you have none that are at that level or even arguably close. I gave a few examples of stuff Cole coulda said, you gave an example of what Cole coulda said, fans made a better response track than Cole did. Majority of it was hard but that part lost it for me in a big way. Good example is that when Jay-Z dissed Nas he didn’t try to trash illmatic. That would’ve been stupid, same way that Nas didn’t attack Reasonable Doubt. That would’ve been stupid. But still because Nas made Illmatic, and because Jay-Z made Reasonable doubt, they can actually diss whatever album they fuckign want because they probably made better. And if not it’s arguable that they made better. Dissing Kendrick’s Discography(specifically TPAB)which is his biggest strength is like tryna tell Deontay Wilder he punches like a featherweight. I just expected smarter from Cole. I am a Cole Fan, he was the first rapper I really fucked with yk. I expected better from him, something smarter.

What I honestly got from this is that Cole don’t wanna go back and forth with nobody, let alone Kendrick. Considering he probably starting writing, producing, and recording this song in the time frame of Like That coming out to today, he ain’t have too much time to figure everything out, I wouldn’t be surprised if his thoughts on the whole thing isn’t as sorted out or cohesive, that’s what this track feels like to me honestly. This is a situation of if Cole doesn’t say anything, he’ll be called a pussy, even though I would personally respect him coming out to say he don’t wanna drop a record on someone who brought his name up on rowdy type shit. cuz I honestly don’t sense real ‘beef’ between him and Kendrick, they might have these spats but it ain’t serious enough to hav a 7 mins record. But I would like to attest that to the pressure of the community only giving him one option, even if he probably sees this as pointless. Plus I don’t think a lot of what he’s saying in the record is correct, because some of the stuff he’s saying about Kendrick it can easily be said towards him so I was a bit confused in that second verse (my opinion ofc) yk, besides kdot being a short king😂the ‘disses’ just don’t hit as hard, and maybe that was the point, it just kinda appeases the community more than anything. But if Kendrick decides to make a response to this, that will definitely be something because I can only see Kendrick actually trying to go at Cole, which sucks cuz I think Cole is a great nice guy😭I’m packing this whole thing up by Sunday tho

Cole doesn’t take risks because he isn’t trying to grift in societal issues the way Kendrick does, all cole has ever wanted is to try to rap and get to the same level as the old heads, he is a classic rap enjoyer so that’s what he makes

I am a kendrick fan and i get it when people say TPAB is boring I don't think it is but you don't just put TPAB on the aux You need to be in a very specific mental space to listen to it And that's just not for everybody
