I was so depressed two years ago and kept trying to get out of Mississippi while making close to nothing. Ended up passing some certifications, finishing college then moved out of my moms house. I kept listening to this whenever I would study or drive home working overnight at a data center. 40 miles there and back at 5am then would wake up at 2pm to repeat the cycle again. I make more money now and I’m healthier but I don’t think I would have done it without Dilla’s music.

You are never alone, when the beat places you in a frequency zone, use your mind to find remedies fantastic, then surf the feeling until the last kick, that's it feel the smile cascade across your sacred space, spill the moment like a lush inability to make it waste, time waits for no one so stay in the moment, claim the joy that you desire to officially own it, waste no more time being stuck in the past, happiness is perpetual all you have to do is ask, to be in the spotlight of the love that's eternal, write a happy narrative daily in your journal, the greatest love shines eternal to heaven and back, love of self is real when you know where you're at, you are here with us, the children of light, united as one eliminating the fight.

J Dilla, certainly one of the Masters of music, I remember shortly after he passed, I visited James Yancey’s gravesite, and I said a prayer for him at his Tombstone... I’ve never visited someone’s grave like that, and I just sat there thinking about all the contributions Dilla made while he was still in this world with all his music that I love appreciate. I’ll never forget that day I visited J Dilla’s grave, it only made my appreciation and respect and admiration for Dilla grow even more to where I find a connection with Dilla every time I hear his music being played. It reminds me that there are music producers, and then there is J Dilla, who has that visionary ear to hear breaks in a song a certain way no one else can execute or perform at his level. Only producer to me that can come near J Dilla would be Madlib.

I’m 26 living at my mom’s house after a failed marriage and some hard years in the military… I’m almost done with my degree and I’m barely making enough to pay my bills let alone think about moving out. But these comments, this song, I know everything will be alright. I just gotta keep going.
@ducky7744 ай бұрын
Hey I wanna say that I just moved into my dorm at college away from home for the first time and your comment really helped me to realize I’m not alone in the struggle to get some headway in life. It’s really easy for me to get apathetic right now because I’m the first person in my family to truly try to commit to college by moving out and it’s been so hard to just try and be with people when so many of them take college so lightly… my mom and dad worked themselves practically to the bone so that I’d be able to see college at all. Hoping that things will get better once more people move in and I can hopefully find some people I can really resonate with. Right now I feel alone and confused and your comment reminded me that life takes us on many different winding paths but they can still be connected through beautiful music like this… anyways sorry for the super long reply I need to go to bed lol. I wish you all the best in finishing your degree and I hope that things will get better thanks to the work you’ve done. Take care.

In 2000, I originally bought Common’s “Like Water For Chocolate” LP solely for the song “The 6th Sense”. I was completely mesmerized when I heard the full album, specifically this song. Why can't get over Nag Champa, when is it going to get old for me??? I'm right bang smack in the middle of a pandemic and it's just after DOOM has passed😟RIP Villain... What am i doing? I'm listening to Nag Champa instrumentals, with verse that make Common Sense and with as well as without hook!!! Wow talk about timeless... OMG I've been playing it for over 12 years already. RIP 🐐 GOAT James!!!

Dilla is the man... I don't get why so many videos have the NY skyline though when dude was repping Detroit... but it's all good, I'm sure he had love for NYC too.

The everyday song* the record of all nuances, mapping your wins & fails, and the breath in-between * a rolling path of cold water, over smooth stones, twisting, turning, pure and devout* relentless in asignation* soul stories... * no listening, just feeling *

More of a cigar guy but having a smoke watching the sun go down with that bluish sometimes purple sky with this playing in the background is blissful. This the perfect vibe.

Looking at this photo of Manhattan to this beat, I can't help but think about all the people just getting up out of bed, (or those going to sleep), the millions of people underground in the subways, a New Yorker getting into a yellow cab, or an every-day Manhattanite hustling down the street, and all of those people with the same thoughts about their next move, their next destination.

Nag Champa was literally the scent of Melbourne house parties in the 90's haha ❤ First timing hearing this.
