Dilla was a better lyricist with his beats than most rappers are with their words. RIP

I love how the main sample of "The Light" comes back from what sounds like another dimension and is simply used as a sound effect in the remix. It sounds like when you meet a stranger that seems so familiar. It sounds like a past life coming back to you and resonating in the background of your own. It sounds like how you might sound resonating in the background of someone elses life. Good gawd, Dilla...

You hit the nail on the damn head. You're like, "damn I swear I know you from somewhere..." You know this vibe. It's not the same sound, but the vibe is... bro, I KNOW YOU!!! I don't know where I know you from, but I know you bruh. Then you go back and listen to the first one and you're like, it's really NOT the same sounds, but the sound is in the building somewhere. The vibe is still there, and it's hype-er. It's LIT!!!

I had never heard of Jay Dilla before sitting and listening to him with my youngest son. I'm an old school listener from back in the days. But music has always been something that I have loved from a kid. My Dad loved Jazz and played it in the home and Mom was always into Gospel and she played that in the home. So I guess the best of both worlds!!! At times I was around my Aunts and Uncles and they would listen to what we call to day's R&B. But this young dude Jay Dilla creates smooth Jazz. Believe it or not I can also hear a little gospel in his music being a musician myself. Bravo Jay! You left a lot of what you were feeling with us. Rest In Peace my Young Brother you are creating music now that you didn't know was possible. 🎶🎶🎶🎶🕊️🕊️🕊️

Wish I could share with the world some of the cassettes he gave to me in the early 80's... Blew my mind then that he was scratching and mixing then and we were only about 5 & 6 years old. I can still clearly hear the mix he did with a Run DMC song mixed with a children's nursery rhyme record, he was showing me how to scratch. Til this day I still edit music the way he taught me by splicing cassettes and matching the timing of the beat. Love eternal James 💞🎧🎹🎶

J dilla, the heala, the teacher, a preacher, a seeker, creator of a vibe not contrived, maker he synthesize, sounds synchronized, hear him around my body jives, makes me feel alive, wakes me up feeling energized, life is tough when you don't compromise, seeking something not contrived, won't live in the hive mind, feels like you get behind on the times when you align with the rhymes speaking truth, listening since I was a youth, this rap is my proof, get confused sometimes, feel used like a mime, some sideshow, ain't a sidehoe, though my flow be slow, to those who know, it goes deeper than bitches and hoes, listen closely and it'll show
