Ensemble Apex performs Haydn's 60th Symphony, Il Distratto.

I- Adagio, Allegro di molto - Leandre is introduced, an absent-minded bumbling character. He is about to get married.
II- Andante- a band interrupts wedding rehearsals
III- Menuetto- Trio- a wedding dance
IV- Presto- Leandre has gotten lost in a Balkan neighbourhood
V- Adagio di Lamentatione- Leandre's bride has been stood up, but a noisy brass fanfare calls Leandre back to the wedding.
VI- Finale: Prestissimo- Leandre rushes back to his bride- but the wedding band has forgotten to tune.

Brilliant - well done to everyone, and congratulations on an imaginative and worthwhile repertoire choice. Bravi tutti. One or two thoughts. Split the violins. Brass and timps a little too recessed. At end of 5th movement, attacca subito il finale - a break makes no sense. The symphony’s title is *’Il distratto’* and it’s best left in Italian and untranslated. If it is going to be put into English, then it’s: ‘The Distracted Man’ or ‘The Absent-minded Man’ or ‘The Inattentive Man’ or ‘The Muddled Man’. Take your pick, or as I suggested, just leave it in Italian which is widely understood anyway, and is the title used in the English-speaking world. Thanks for a wonderful half-hour’s entertainment, delivered in exactly the spirit intended by the composer. Subsequent note: it is good you have amended the title and now have the correct Italian name, but capital (uppercase) letters are not used like in English; it should be *Il distratto* (not Il Distratto).
