So the message behind this song is that he has stuffs he wants to do, he has desires he wants to fulfill, wants to cry in peace, wants to feel the excitement of love etc etc. Just typical daily stuffs that a human goes through. But he doesn't have to luxury of doing so since he is a public figure. So he fulfills all of these while daydreaming. Because once he wakes up, he can't do whatever he wants. This is just a brief explanation lol. This song actually has a sad undertone with a happy and upbeat surface. And he has personally said its the darkest track on the mixtape. There are wreckless things he wants to do like anyone in his twenties but has to respect his professional life. They travel thousands of miles annually as they run concerts. Also, he picked a retro feel and put subtle references back to ll cool j and rappers from 80 's and 90's. The rappers in this group do watch Western rappers and add their own flavor.

Daydream might sound like an happy and carefree song, but there is an underlying strong sense of melancholy that can be perceived in the lyrics. Hobi: ‘People know me, and I know I’m a person in the public’s eye. I wanted to show that behind this public figure is an ordinary guy named Jung Ho-seok. I wanted to use this as an outlet to talk about the desires and wishes that every person in the world has but I have to hold down and cover up because of having chosen this line of work. Daydreaming is, of course, dreaming while wide awake about things generally outside our reach. But even if these dreams might never become reality, lining these dreams up in my head still gave me comfort. I thought expressing this topic in the wrong way might make it sound way too heavy, so I wanted to showcase something bouncy and fun’.

actually in this group there are three rappers, just so happens they all have unique different types of their rap that shapes who they are. K. From what I grasp from watching the video several hundred times 😂😂😂 he's talking about a daydream to be free from all the restrictions of being an idol. I think the lyrics are about escaping reality and daydreaming as we're caught in a net with never-ending human desires, so the fish are a metaphor as well as his ability to do all the weird shit in the video, since he's daydreaming and out of reality, cause your friend was havin trouble finding the message in the lyrics, just an fyi :) and great reactions!

Also, I just want to say that there are 3 rappers in BTS J-hope, RM, and Suga. All three rappers J-hope, RM, and Suga actually wrote and co-produce a lot of the songs from BTS that are loved by so many fans. All three rappers have solo mixtapes that are pure hip-hop. For these mixtapes they each wrote and co-produced pretty much every song. J-hope, RM, and Suga especially RM and Suga produce the songs and sounds for a lot of BTS songs. So in my opinion they are unique in the boyband world since the group bts actually write, co-produce pretty much every song bts has out. I suggest if you get a chance to listen to each mixtape for the three rapers you will not be disappointed. ON youtube you will find lyrical videos for every song for every rapper so you can see the lyrics they are made by fans. Also keep in mind that although their mixtapes are amazing and bts songs are amazing lyrically we never get the full meaning because when it is translated from Korean to english sometemes somethings are hard to translate to make sense. Neverthless you have not LIVED until you hear the lyrics out of the minds of these three. Also side note: I have not forgotten the other members of BTS the other boys have over the years wrote and produced some amazing bts songs as well. We have 7 talented boys that can sing, rap, write and compose songs, act they can do it all. Thanks for reacting.
