Something like that…You were able to move around for the beginning of the day but I say as the bigger acts started to perform it became impossible to move or go to the bathroom and get back to your spot. I’d say from before Charlie XCX’s sets you were stuck and standing the whole time. So yea about 7 hours. Except for the barricade ppl in front row. They could not ever leave their spots and had to take turns using the bathroom and getting food, but they were able to sit in the grass in their spot, they didn’t have to stand at first.

Lollapalooza announced that j-Hope drove more sales than any other ACT in the history of the festival. I was also at this performance - my first Lollapalooza at the age of 56. 😂 (to put that in context - my brother, who is 4 1/2 years younger than me, went to the first one) I went with my daughter (21) and a couple of ARMY friends we met at the LA concerts. We intended to stand in the back for hobi's set, not really wanting to be caught up in the crowds (the Travis Scott crowd crush had just happened a few months before that, so we were nervous). The reality was that we got there as the group with the actor (can't remember the name - sorry) was playing and hung out in the back left side, then moved up some to watch Charlie XCX and were maybe a third of the way back on the left, but then we got pushed up by the crowd behind us for The Kid LAROI as the Charli fans left, and then pushed up even further when the Kid LAROI fans left. There was no chance to leave at that point. One of our friends did leave partway through Kid LAROI's set for a restroom break, and she never found her way back to us. She just couldn't get through the crowd. We heard stories afterwards of security who were supposed to be watching the crowd who couoldn't help but look back at the stage, of non-ARMY who had never heard of j-hope asking ARMY if they could borrow their ARMY bombs for a minute because they were so cool, etc. The whole concert was beyond amazing...just incredible.

There was over 100k army in that crowd in hobipooloza. Jhope became the Highest Ticket-Selling Artist In Lollapalooza HISTORY! Also, jhope has been practicing english alot...so thats why he is getting alot better in english. The lightsticks are army bombs and all of that is army. Also, there was people wondering who jhope was and wondering why there was a big crowd..i saw a few of them posting on twitter saying "never heard of jhope before but he is awesome"

*Re: Military Enlistment* I'll start with recent events. June 14, 2022 - BTS announced they would pause group music and focus on solo work, with J-hope kicking it off. A couple of days later his album was announced. "More" on July 1, "Jack in the Box" on July 15, Lollapalooza on July 31. Then we got some solo collabs, then the Busan concert on October 15, and Jin said he'd release a single album. October 17, they announced they would all enlist and reunite in 2025, with Jin enlisting after his promotion activities concluded. His single on October 28, and he enlisted on December 13. J-hope enlisted on April 18. Now let's go back. Bang PD said they've been talking about enlistment in 2018 and that they would make that moment as a turning point in their career. The plan was to release "Map of the Soul: 7", which they did in February 2020, then a world tour, then military service. But pandemic stopped the tour and then they worked on and released "Dynamite" and "BE" (Nov 2020). Jin was supposed to enlist after "Be", but "Dynamite" was nominated for a Grammy. Then they tried again for a Grammy with "Butter" (Jul 2021). Then the pandemic was winding down and they had a chance to do a concert in Nov/Dec 2021, and Jin was supposed to enlist then, but then they got a Grammy nom again but lost. Jin planned to enlist in May/June 2022 after the announcement of their solo era. But then they had the Busan concert in October and Jin decided to postpone so he could see ARMY for the last time before he enlisted.

I would add that it was the Las Vegas concert opportunity (which they scheduled for just after the Grammy's which were being held in the same city - in fact, the BTS "spill over" venue (MGM Grand) was where they held the Grammy awards (can you say "flex"?) - as well that postponed Jin's military service. The city of Las Vegas approached the group after seeing what they did in LA in Nov/Dec about performing in Vegas and what the city could do to promote them (the borafication of Las Vegas - lots of purple lights on the strip, a Dynamite water show at Caesar's Palace, etc.).

I think the tech for army bombs is the same for a lot of kpop light-sticks (light sticks are standard in kpop but they're all different concepts/shapes ect). You can use the army bomb anywhere and make it glow white, you can connect it to their app and make it glow diff colors. The thing that's pretty unique abt it is that their production team have made it so that when army goes to a bts concert, you can connect it with bluetooth/wifi so that everyone's army bomb is synched up. It makes for some pretty cool light shows. Sometimes they make the bts logo or spell bts with the lights and when army does a crowd wave it looks insane. It's genius bc it makes for a rlly fun and interactive crowd experience, rather than everyone just having their phones out

*Re: Military Enlistment pt. 2* In the competitive world of K-pop, military enlistment could be a death sentence for a boy band. Being out of the public eye for 18-24 months is a long time, and a band's popularity can fade after enlistment. One way to avoid this is to keep the rest of the band active while one or two members are in the military, even releasing albums as an incomplete band. If the age range of the members is wide, it can take years until they have a complete band again, from the enlistment of the oldest member to the youngest. I think many ARMYs, including myself, was hoping that BTS would all enlist at the same time, then we would tough it out for 18 months, and then reunite. On the other end of the spectrum, if they all enlisted near their respective deadline of 28 of age, it would probably take five years from the time Jin started his service until JK concluded his. But the way they're doing it now is better, I think, staggering their enlistment like this and filling the time with solo activities (instead of being active as an incomplete band). The total time of their military service is longer than 18 months, but the actual period where they're ALL inactive is shorter. And it gives the members the opportunity to learn and grow, not just in creating their albums, but also through their other solo activities. J-hope was already a great performer, but after Lollapalooza, he was on another level in the Busan concert. Suga as well, we see him grow in confidence, concert by concert, in his current tour. In a recent interview, RM said that his social circle expanded recently. They're all growing and blossoming. I can't wait for their comeback as a group in 2025/6.

If you think about it, what BTS is doing is crazy. They're letting the group be inactive for around three years, relying solely on the strength of their solo members to keep the momentum going. It's their immense star power that allows them to do this. As we can see, the members are not simply filling in the time, but thriving and breaking records left and right.

*Re: band members* From articles on bandwagon: Lollapalooza: "the talented music director and bassist Asaf Rodeh, assisted by Jonathan Linav, who were joined by Clemons Poindexter IV on drums, Carrice Whitley on keys, and Jackson Shepard on guitars." Busan concert: "Led by music directors Asaf Rodeh and Jonathan Linav and held together by sound engineer Jung Wooyeong (all of whom also worked on j-hope's historic HOBIPALOOZA set), BTS' Yet To Come in Busan live band comprised Kenji Chan on guitar, Matt Hines on bass, Pierre Jamerson on keys, and Al Cleveland III on drums. These are also the guys you see laughing behind BTS when they're running and teasing each other on stage. "

@@LMBOatU J-hope in the box expands over several months before Lollapalooza (check the days count D-200, D-178, etc). Hobi started working on his album in 2021. Meaning by the announcement of their solo projects on the Festa dinner June 13th, 2022. J-hope’s album was ready. Even the promotions were ready to go public. Albums take months even years to be finished. Especially if artists takes the artistry of their album production seriously.

Late to the game on this, but love your reaction. Anyone can buy a BTS bomb, but ARMY shows up with them (similar light sticks are signature and unique to all Kpop bands now). There’s a concert mode that adds to the light show of live performances. It was so hot and humid in Chicago at this time, so as a performer it had to be rough! This was the first project/concert that occurred after they announced the members would be pausing to explore solo projects before mandatory military service. It happen a couple before Jin’s enlistment and the Astronaut was the song that followed this performance to say goodbye before Jin was the first to enlist. J-Hope is the second. J-Hope just had this project already prepared so he released his first. Although a darker exploration of his persona, it was still a hopeful look at the future for these artists before they started enlisting so it felt like a smart artistic move to start with this before the pre-enlistment songs.

So what the plan was as announced in 2022, was BTS announcing their hiatus to serve in the military but all also release a solo album, preferably before starting their respective services. Jin of course as the oldest could only record and release a single (though it's been implied a huge chunk of his album is done), but hobi was the first to release his album and it seemed from the documentary his lollapalooza debut was in the works at least 2 months before the final event. Not sure how they've planned the roll out of military enlistments but it's presumed next up will be yoongi (agust D/suga) very soon after his world tour, and RM to follow. Fun fact (or sad fact depending on your outlook): bts was originally going to announce their hiatus back in 2020 and for them to enlist and release albums as theyre doing now. The original plan was to do a world tour for Map of the soul 7 album to close out chapter 1 of bts... but then covid happened and cancelled their world tour. So they stuck around another 2 years because they didn't want their temporary farewell to be a cancelled world tour. At least they got to perform the map of the soul concert online I guess.

I can't believe this performance is already 1 year old (Agust 1, 2022 - Asian Time || July 31, 2022 - western) and the fact that JITB was released 2 weeks prior to this, so ARMY only got 2 weeks to memorize the lyrics.. June 14, 2022 - they announced their group break, literally a day after their 9th anniversary and a LOT had happened after that, we can barely even catch everything that is happening. (they released songs they were featured in August, September, November and January) October - they had their concert in Busan and announced Jin's enlistment 2 days after a week after that, The Astronaut was released December 2 - Namjoon released Indigo December 13 - Jin got enlisted February - they announced Hobi's enlistment March - Hobi, and Namjoon, released Smoke Sprite and On the Street and Jimin released his FACE album April - Yoongi released his album, Hobi got enlisted, Yoongi started his tour June - their anniversary July - JK dropped SEVEN now August, Yoongi just finished his tour earlier and Jin, Hobi and Namjoon were present (Yoongi was cussing so much in his whole tour, Jin and Hobi laughed so hard hearing him and laughed even harder when they heard ARMY cussing with him lol) now, we're getting ready for another military announcement (I'm sure I forget to mention some of their projects cause it's just THAT many lol now I'm so excited for Taehyung's album)

At this time, they had gone on hiatus to do their solo stuff so they could get that out of the way before the military stuff, but at this time, all of the military stuff was still up in the air as in they hadn't even announced anybody going to the military (from what I remember, I might be wrong). We knew the military stuff was coming because of Jin's age and whatnot, but there wasn't an announcement yet. They had just said that they needed a break (they were supposed to take a break after their world tour in 2020 after MOTS:7, but the pandemic happened and they never really got their break), and then they were going to work on solo stuff. The military announcement came after their Yet to Come: Busan concert. Hope this isn't too confusing and helps a bit!

There were army bombs being sold at the scene that day and sold out very early, everyone who bought and held the bomb became an army that day. Hobipalooza is the concert video I've watched most times. I like that those songs have been adapted into live performances, it really doubles the listening experience, and this band is also really awesome. Before watching this reactor, I just read the news that Hobi received rigorous training in the military, these days are the hardest stage I was emotion when I saw the pictures... I can't understand the general mentality of South Koreans who want bts to serve in the military, some of them want everyone to be equal, but the irony is that these people can't become shining stars on the stage with all their abilities, but they want the artists to temporarily give up all their talents and achievements, stay away from their majors, and take risks...it's just to satisfy the wishes of the vast majority of ordinary people...(provided that they know that bts who have received national medals actually bring benefits to South Korea far more than some people who are exempted from military service due to honor), of course we have no right to interfere in the affairs of other countries, but just from the perspective of employing talents, it is really wasteful.

I get the impression they are doing their own things in a lose kind of order before they individually enter their military service. (But they need to keep South Korea safe from another invasion they've a history of being invaded and they are techinically still at war with that Despot who rules North Korea. Also South Korea's population is shrinking really fast. ok back to the lads) RM did his one off small concert in Korea in the place he always wanted to perform. Then J Hope, Suga just done his in the USA but has 3 more concerts in Asia so who will be next? Will Jimin do his own tour or not. What will the remaining members do they all have contracts outside of music as well Brand Ambassadors for products etc. RM last Vlive talked about getting his new work finished before the military come get him. I think he's off end of May beginning of June. Not sure when Suga's going as he's already 30 but he might have filed to extend it slightly due to contract commitments Kpop artist's can do that but it's only a limited amount of times they can do that. The ARMY Bombs light sticks the shape, design is Trademarked. All Kpop groups have their own Trademarked light stick designs. I don't know of any other group that use the blue tooth so their light sticks can change colour when you take your's to a BTS concert and you turn on the blue tooth and give them your sit number so that BTS tech team can control them eg make them change colour in different parts of a stadium and spell our ARMY or BTS etc. However I do know they were the first to have the idea of using blue tooth to have that control to change the colour of the ARMY Bomb light sticks. The idea I believe came about because once purple became the ARMY and BTS colour. The fans got plastic purple balls and covered their ARMY bomb's to make a sea of Purple.

I work event AV. I can't be sure how this particular setup works, but you could replicate it by setting up a monitor and having someone offstage forward a slideshow for you, or else pre-timed vídeo files BUT that's more risky if anything happens that throws off your set.

20:00 Supreme Boi enjoys a producer role behind the scenes. Tho Jimin was actually there supporting Hobi, would have been epic to see rapping Jimin (but I think he just like to rap with Suga 😂) 🖤🥀

sundays are always hard to sell out for any festival. in fact lolla didn´t sell out many sundays for years. until j-hope was announced as a headliner. i think around a few hours all tickets was gone. it was suppose to be doja cat but she cancelled so j-hope was signed instead. big change in the last minute, but he had the biggest draw in lolla history one of the people working there told this to fans. Chicago major came out on stage before hobi came out and talked about him.

It's simple we use it in church you just have to have a good Technie team. The church I was with previously I was the only member of the worship band that was also part of the techie Team. We are were all very well trained had to go on a number of 'Out of House Courses' before being allowed any where near the equipment. Ohh and of course most churches in the UK live stream as well via KZbin

So this was all planned maybe not lolla since 2020. They were going to close out their book of youth with map of the soul 7 and do solo ventures while the members fulfilled their military requirements. However the pandemic hit, and changed all that. So jhope was talking about how he wrote a lot of jack in the box back in 2020. Lolla was in July 2022 Jin left on Dec 2022. But yes the majority of their solo stuff was planned. Bang PD (the chairman of the Hybe board) said in an interview w cnn money or whatever it’s called stating that the he and the members had been discussing their enlistment since 2018

Pretty sure HYBE has made it so that they own the rights to the design of ARMY bombs. They don't play with their money. Lightsticks are a kpop thing though so the general idea of it existed long before BTS was a thought in Bang PD's mind so they don't own the tech in that way. If we did live in a world where the design wasn't patented and another company put God outta their thoughts to use it, not to sound like a gang member. but that would be the last product that company ever sold.
