Hobi’s verse in #on_the_street is deeper than many people think. First, you have to know that the child in the mv is hobi. the kid is wearing Air Jordan 11s. Theyre the same pair Hobi owns now. Air Jordans are also known as J’s so “J in the Air” is a play on the shoes. Air Jordan’s (J’s) are significant bc j.cole mentions the shoes in his song “higher.” Meeting j.cole at lolla, hobi mentioned to him that he loves his mixtape Friday Night Lights, especially Higher & Hobi found a genius way to add it into the lyrics and MV. The child is wearing almost the same outfit as j.cole wears in the MV. This represents how much hobi idolized j.cole and found inspiration in him when he was young. At the start, you see j-hope help kid-hobi put his earphones on, pat his head, shake his hand, and wave to him as they both set off walking down their paths. It’s almost feels like he was comforting and assuring his younger self. Hobi’s verse starts “My two feet walk willingly, anywhere. J in the air” Hobi sets off on a life path that leads him to his destination “j in the air”, represented at the end by him and jcole on the roof. This is where “J in the air” takes on another meaning. He’s playing with the fact that they’re both J’s and they’re “in the air” now. He gave us a hint at his lolla performance “you can call me J” (also, “j in the air” is also a reference to his song Airplane which is about j-hope finding his success after so many hard trials.) “For the path I’m on to become one of hope, I give my all. Even my walk was made of Your love and your faith.” He’s talking about how he worked so hard and made many sacrifices to make sure that the path he willingly chose to follow, became successful. he tells us that it’s bc of our love and faith that all his hard work came to fruition and is what made this path possible. “To repay you even from afar, just like a butterfly” He references BTS’s song Butterfly in this line. His verse:“like a wind that gently strokes me, like a dust that gently drifts along, Youre there but for some reason, I cant reach you” bc hes leaving for a while, he wishes to give this song as his message for us to always have & to comfort us while hes unable to be with us. “Now, just walk lightly, whenever you want Go on hopefully, wherever you walk In these streets imbued with someones breath I leave my soul and my eternity Everywhere (I’ll be)” No matter what path we chose, he wants to always be with us to be our piece of peace. “Every time I walk, Every time I run Every time I move, As always, for us Every time I look, Every time I love Every time I hope, As always, for us” He goes through the mv walking on his path. It shows him as a kid that was inspired by j.cole to him working hard throughout his youth practicing his love of street dance, to eventually climbing up from the bottom to finally reach his destination at the top where he meets and shakes the hand of the man who inspired him from the start.

Also I hear the jacket was a trend going on when J-Hope was younger dancing in the street. There's a name for the jacket but can't recall what. 🤔

@@saiyongdawn7756 Bomber jackets period were popular in the early 90's but his jacket is an Avirex. During the early 90's hip hop, Avirex was one of the brands that was popular . We were wearing Avirex in my neighborhood in Detroit, but especially if you were from NYC.

This song is j-hope’s farewell-for-now song before he leaves soon to serve his mandatory 18 month enlistment in the South Korean military. If you’re wondering about why they paired up for this collab, it starts with dance. J-hope started dancing at 10 and was part of a street dance team by middle school. He lived and breathed dance. It was actually dance that led him to music, not the other way around as it is for most people. And it was J. Cole who inspired him to write his own music. In this video, while J. Cole was on the roof rapping, j-hope was underground singing along in his first language, dance, just as he had done as a teen. The whole second half of the song was, in some ways, a duet. His dance life started on the streets and his music life started with J. Cole. This song was j-hope going back to those roots and telling us, “For the path I’m on to become to become one of hope, I gave my all. Even my walk was made of your love and your faith.” He put absolutely everything he had into becoming someone who could give us hope and encouragement through his dance and his music, and in return we gave him our love and faith, which was energy to help him keep striving and pushing himself. (And this man PUSHES himself. I’ve never seen a human with a stronger work ethic than j-hope.) I’m so glad you loved the song! It was great to see you so enthusiastic about it!

It really surprises me that nobody mentions or seems to notice how perfectly timed the hand off from JHope to JCole happens. This is a great collaboration in just 4 days it already has over 16million views. Army 4 life… thank you JHope for this farewell. We will wait for you. Thank you JCole for making JHope’s dream come true. Thank you guys for this reaction.

J Cole is like a master of rhymes. Notice the flowers in the beginning of the mv like a memorial or farewell for now to 'Army' as J-HOPE prepares for military duty. Thanks guys. Enj🌞y your content. ☺️👌

There's a lot of back story to the track but I'm sure people will chime in on that!! Thanks for the reaction 💜🔥 Mac Miller is indeed an inspiration of his. If you check the track Hip Hop Lover Hobi refers to his inspirations and name drops Cole and Mac Miller

Hobi saying good bye to his childhood self. He will be called up next to serve his mandatory military service. The song is his gift to Army before he leaves. He is also reassuring us the separation is temporary. He will be coming back, but with a new beginning. This collab with JCole is a dream fulfilled. He loves and admires his work. BTS’ Yet To Come is the group reassuring Army that they will return as a group.

thank you for reacting to this song.i am so happy watching so many reactions from J.Cole fans and every time i get really emotional.as an army i am happy to see J.Cole fans praising our J.Hope, and at the same time I have memories of how this boy suffered at the time of his debut, in a live on his birthday he was so sad because he had not received any "congratulations" and at that time he also received many offenses for his look, calling him "ugly" , that when they debuted with "No more dream" they made him wear a horrible mask, and today, you see, he receives so much love and affection, God is fair, and just be patient that the time comes.

..i sense J Hope's passion in doing this video...J Cole seems to be a legend in hip hop nowadays..both of them form a wonderful collaboration...this video is celestial and wonderful, artistically speaking. J hope's dancing is also extraordinary..it reminds me of the film Dancing in the Rain with Gene Kelly.
